I sincerely doubt that these attacks were not orchestrayed by the 'powers that be'.
1) The media of Britain, from my understanding, are generally warm towards Brown. Except of course the right-wing papers such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Express, but they hate everything remotely left-wing. The media acknowledge his role as Chancellor in the Blair regime, but Brown has promised change, and at least the media are giving him a chance on the whole.
2) What do you mean? He's pledged to bring troops home from Iraq, starting a steady withdrawal. But he is putting troops into Afghanistan. The press are quite happy with this.
3) Brown is a control freak, and the concensus in the press is that he won't be quite as pro-European as his predecessor and fight for British, and his, sovereignty. That's one issue which Brown had over Blair in so far as he'll fight for British interests.
It's safe to assume that I'm just taking the piss.
