as (last script anyway) megatron doesn't speak any lines in english (its beneath him to lower himself to talk puny fleshbag language, as he taunts prime with..), i dont think it really matters who plays him

I had actually thought the same thing. His voice for Darkseid in the Superman cartoons was awesome. Granted it was just a lowered more gravely version of his own voice.

So he only speaks in dial-up/Cybertronian?

Ok that's just a piss poor way of handling the Megatron character. The more I read about this movie the more disappointed I become :(

Holy hell- I was watching Starship troopers, too! What a coincidence.

And Megatron doesn't speak? Perfect. And I'm being sincere. ^_^

ok sorry guys, he NORMALLY speak in cybertronian, and taunts optimus for lowering himself to speak flshbag language, and does acually say 2 lines to sam/spike along the lines of HAND IT OVER WEAK HUMAN YOU ARE NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO RESIST ME / / / YOU WILL HAND IT OVER, OR YOU WILL DIE

Ironside would be better off as one of the humans in the millitary in the film. Ironside uses some good body language in the films he's been in, so I feel he's better off as one of the humans.

Plus I was never too keen on holloywood celebs voice acting really.

Okay, a few lines are better than none, but this still applies:

 How can you possibly say something like that when it would kill all possibility of the tension with Starscream? It is not Megatron without either that or David Kaye civilizing up the role.

Actually if it doesn't speak, it'll be great, I can't imagine anything human coming out of that thing.

The script we read wasn't finalized. I wouldn't be surprised if he has more lines in English than first thought.

Yes, the script we read is really really close to what's in the final product, but we may still see a change.

Although, in a way...it does seem fitting that Megatron would stick to Cybertronian language. Especially considering he chastises Prime for "lowering himself".

Sometimes in movies they'll do it where the characters speak in another language, then all of a sudden they start speaking English to we get a better feel of what they are trying to convey. A good example of this is The Hunt for Red October. For those that don't know, the movie starts out on a Russian sub and the captain is talking to his first officer in Russian with subtitles. After a while, the captain is talking to the political officer while the political officer is quoting from a book. While he is quoting the camera zooms in on his mouth and he immediately starts speaking English. Now I don't know if they'll use a similar trick for Megatron, but it's just a theory....

If you make other suggestions, you give them a way out.

Is that what you want?

IS IT?

Well, I'm not expecting much from Starscream. It's perfect because if it's in an alien language, there'd probably be little need to hire Welker, and of course, it makes sense from a logical point of view. :P
