When it comes to quests for the series we like it's about the fun that comes from the search, the stories we're able to tell. It's about making friends and exploring the fandom. It's also about that feeling we got when we first saw the items we decided to pursue, because it helps keep the fire of innocence, purity and wonder we had as a kid and keeping it alive in our lives no matter what happens to us or how old we become. The quest for a certain toy is in part the connection to those that follow after us as well, and not forgetting that they too have feelings, and if lucky, maybe they too will have a grail.

Poetic, innit?

Yeah. But sometimes you search high and low for some figure and find it... Satisfaction = 100%, Rarity 0%. The graily-ness is also determined by the rarity. I had a rough time finding Animated Magnus, but it's about as rare as grass in hindsight.

I finally got my Fortress Maximus about 2 weeks ago.

Let's just say awesome and massive :-)

Cost a good chunk, but it was near my birthday and I had several large Transformer sales at the same time along with a Cerebros and Spike(both originals) to sell for $$$ towards him so I did it.

Other grails are damned near mint Headmasters,Targetmasters and Powermasters on both faction sides. Pieced, bought and bartered/bargained for them all. I am only missing Chromedome, Skullcruncher and Getaway.

Now.................... If I can only get a nice Scorponok(I have body only) and complete Stunticons(only missing Menasor for original gestalts)

Alright, so I chose this for my first post and I wanted to make it count. So I chose this thread.

The Holy Grail of my Transfomers Collection is easily the original G1 Ultra Magnus. I remember when it was new and actually receiving it as a gift. I cannot remember one I actually treasure more.

Thanks

Welcome.

Speaking purely from a position of extreme bias, I'd say that was an extremely good choice!

Welcome.

That is an awesome gift to have been given. It's one I hope to get myself some day.

my holy grail is not actually a toy but my absolutely one of a kind Transforers-ified postimpressionism leggings (designs by ninjaink) because with these I essentially get to walk around professing my love of Transformers to everybody :D

The thing I would call a Holy Grail that I have is Primal Prime complete with 5 of his 6 blast panels, 3 missiles, his gun and instructions from Value Village for $5.

May I humbly suggest a sexy but accurate G1 Arcee cosplay? You will hear our collective fangasm way over there. <3 <3 <3 <3

(Or be overly hardcore and do a RotF Arcee cosplay! XD )
Manual emoticons because they are so random....

Well... A mixture of shame and the remnants of dinner flow upwards through me now.

I also forgot to mention that a definite grail of my collection is my MOSC Erector. His entire card seems to be a gigantic pun.

 THAT IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA.

The ROTF version would be exceedingly difficult to draft a design of from Illustrator scratch, I might get to because that would be EPIC, but for now you inspired me to at least make a mock of what Arcee G1 leggings could look like.

Thanks for the inspiration, I'm super excited for my next pair of leggings now :D

Overquoting to point out how awesome it look! O_o

By the waw, a RotF Arcee (or any bike sister) cosplay would be quite epic... because, better start practicing riding and staying on an unicycle for hours on end!

I just ordered that shirt a few days ago and love the design. :) I got a kick out of the Superman/Autobot symbol in your sig. Looks pretty cool.

For me, I've gotten most of my grails. Brave Max, New Year Convoy and Powermaster Prime reissues (and recolors of the mold) top my list of some of my favorites. I regret not having the extra money to buy Botcon 06 Laserbeak when I was there. It's still a hole in my collection and the hunt continues.

I really want a Energon Wingsaber to combine with my Energon Optimus Prime.

However, he don't turn up often on Ebay. And when he do, he's expensive as hell and I'm always broke.

One day... One day...

g1 Optimus Prime. At least one with fists. I don't even need the trailer or roller or anything. I just want a g1 optimus with his fists. It's insanely hard to find one online for less than a fortune >.> especially since money's tight :(

mine too

by the way i have noticed over time that the click ratchet jointed combiner socket ports in my munitioner and the shoulder blox/missle pods add on parts was gradually loosing the ability to hold a pose due to the ratchet piece the joint clicks against inside the shoulderblox/issile pods and munitioners backpack ggrinding down due to friction over time

has it happened to your set yet?

so far i have had to cannabalize the core body torso block from each of my fansproject enhanced superion maximus stealth fighter jet limb figures to use as a set of bases to cobble together a set of combiner port shoulder blox stand in parts s for big bruticus

take a good look ath te missile pods for vortex

see that front wall panel with the missile rounds molded into it?

i had to salvage that part from each of hte original missile pods + the top wall of each missile pod with flaps also

as for the two classics superion stealth fighter jet limb figures

i had to completely remove the arms legs lower body chest and back pack parts with a dermil to make the jetbot body have a basic blox shape

with the missile pods front wall being moutned into place where the jetbot body bloxs head used to be and the top wall with flaps salvaged from the original missile pods with flaps beiung set up on top of the jetbot body blox

it aint pretty in the least but the new ratchet jointed combiner ports work liek a charm fro big bruticus new shoulder blox/,missile pods

to be honest it gives my bruticus a bit of a battle damaged makeshift repair on the spot sort of look

as soon as i get my ands on all 6 figures to tfclubs project hercules that will be my new holy grail

When it comes to canon toys, there's really nothing I want which couldn't be picked up on eBay or with a couple of words to the local fan club. Assuming I had the money, of course.

My grail is a toy which doesn't exist yet outside of my head and a bunch of 3D renderings. I have the designwork done on ten of the modes and most of the remaining two, and then I'm going to need to try some 3D printing to make all the parts work smoothly together. Finally, if it all comes to pass, I'd want to commission some of the rather spectacular kitbashers in the fandom to add interesting greeblies, surface detail, panel lines, and so on, and finally a detailed paint job.

THEN, and only then, will I have my grail.

(Honestly, if I could get this thing built, I'd really like to then scale it down to Deluxe or Basic size, get about a hundred printed off, and use them as armybuilders or interesting freebies to the fandom for anyone interested.)

fansproject needs to make the missile pods/shoulderblox for classics/rotf vortex/energon blackout and bruticus from a stronger more durable form of plastic

over time i have also noticed that the side panel flaps on bruticus's left shoulder blox for vortex have actually broken at the bottom corner of each flap with the plug stud hole

i have had toi repair the part with epoxy glue over time and even had to switch the flaps on vortex's shoulder blox with the ones from explorer/blsstoffs shoulder blox over time

it just got to the point that i had to slightly sand down the size of the plug nobs on the sides of vortexs body for them to properly fit the hoels on the missile pod flaps

the new shoulder blox exstensions i made for big brute explorer blastoff and vortex still work all right in combining them with onslaught as bruticus's arms for combiner mode

but hte pods no longer stay in place when i try to attach them to the sides of vortex's helicoptor mode

instead i have had to improvise a male plug/female socket 2 part connector system using parts from classics superion maximus's silverbolts shoulders so that one missile pod can be mounted into place on the back of munitioner/swindles trunk/roof in vehicle mode and the other can be mounted into place on the back of onslaughts extended trailer as well

ieven had to completely replace the ball jointed hip parts from explorer over time with ball socket parts salvaged from energon flat tops shoulders

I don't really have a holy grail because I haven't been searching long and hard for anything in particular, but one of my guys was a "crazy random happenstance" (to steal the quote from Dr. Horrible). I've been to countless antique places and consignment malls over the years and never seen anything Transformers related. On one particular occasion however, when I was marveling over one guys collection of vintage tin toys, spotted G1 Topspin with his gun for $8.

I had a geek attack in the antique mall xD Then spent two days fretting about his safety <.< I was on a road trip and the car was full. Lol. We'd stopped at the antique place to stretch our legs for a bit.

Best. Rest. Stop. Ever.

And in the end, he got to my house safe and sound :3

I recently started a family, so I've had to pare down most of my Transformers collection. I've sold quite a few on eBay. I've gone from literally having a hobby room full of TF's to a single china cabinet. But I don't really mind, the Transformers that I've kept are all ones I really like and I'm using the money I've earned to save for a down payment on a house. :ic$:

My collection is mostly G1-G2 and G1 related stuff, and my grails are mostly foreign Transformers. My grails are:

1.) Botcon Alpha Trion
2.) Transformers 2010 Unicron (Takara)
3.) Monstructor
4.) Road Caesar
5.) Liokaiser
6.) Star Saber
7.) Victory Leo
8.) Dai Atlas
9.) Road Fire
10.) Sonic Bomber
11.) Sky Garry
12.) Roadbuster (complete!)
13.) Nightbeat
14.) Circuit
15.) Windmill
16.) Deftwing
17.) Ironfist
18.) Clench
19.) Skyquake
20.) Shockwave (complete, works)
21.) Deszaras
22.) Bludgeon
23.) Darkwing and Dreadwind
24.) Stalker
25.) Gutcruncher (complete)
26.) Double Punch
27.) Overlord
28.) Trypticon
29.) Scorponok
30. ) e-Hobby Magnificus
31.) e-Hobby Sunstorm

My Holy Grail changed after I purchased my Fort Max. And again after Overlord. Right now, my grail is the DairyCon Pretender Convoy. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/dairycon-confirmation-packets-arrive-pretender-convoy-inner-bot-revealed/17998/

I mean, It's obviously Peter Cullen "pretending", with Optimus Prime on the inside. Awesome, exclusive, rare, and deeply meaningful. I want. Someone got one for sale? :D

My 1st place Extra Sacred Holy grail would be either be 2010 Battle Blades Optimus Prime because of his awesome detail work and he's the only movie Optimus Prime figure with a Matrix of Leadership.

My 2nd place ranked grail would be Dropkick because his pickup truck reminds me of my first transformer figure which was G2 Gobot series Motormouth

3rd and in my grail of figures is Classics Deluxe Prime because he's a G1 styled Optimus prime figure.

4th and final holy grail goes to my Cybertron Downshift. I just love both of his forms.
