How common was the corrected version of '74 BB??

I've been thinking about this for a while. I'm sure everyone know about the "defect" in the automorph function on "74 Bumblebee. I know a corrected version was shipped out, but I'm wondering how many went out. I saw one back in August and picked it up, but I haven't seen any with the correction after that and I know a couple of assortments have come out with that toy since then. I just saw two at a Wal-Mart today and both of them had the longer tab. Is the corrected version rare or did it just not get shipped to the Midwest?

Splain to me this long tab short tab phenomenon. I didn't join Seibs until long after discussion of that topic ended.

Yeah, I never had a problem with BB so I never understood the problem everybody else had with him. Are there comparison picks?

I got one of the first ones. He has an automorph on the front part of the car that if you didn't use it it wouldn't connect that's why I turned him into Battle Damaged BB

Here's a pic I took of the two versions. The one with the longer tab is the one with the "defect". The one with the shorter tab is the corrected version. Apparently the longer molded tab (which was supposedly a molding error) was causing the locking tab below it to break on some BB's right after the toy's release. If the locking tab broke, the car's nose would not stay locked after transformation. The shorter tab was supposedly made to reduce the pressure on the locking tab to reduce the chance of breakage. The problem I have is that the longer tab has been on almost every BB made (including all of the two-packs and on the clear window Japanese version), while I rarely, if ever, see the shorter tab version in stores.
