i can kinda relate to bays point.

i remember when film directors made films that had character devleopment, plots, drama, intrigue and followed a progressive naritave arc to tell a story which credibly transfered the core tennants of an already established universe into a new medium in order to facilitate whats defined as "an adaptation".

instead of just blowing shyte up around pseudo porn stars.

To be honest, i really don't like Michael Bay, but he is absolutely correct. Mr. Weaving's blatant disregard for the role is his opinion and all - i get that. But its like "he didn't hafta be an asshole about it." lol

IN the grand scheme of things though, it doesn't really matter. Theres plenty of people who can voice a very believable Megatron (or Galvatron for that matter).

And how was he doing that? He was being interviewed in relation to the movie Cloud Atlas and he had a question thrown at him about Transformers. What was he meant to do, lie? He wasn't going out of his way to trash talk the movie - he was merely giving an honest and polite answer.

It's not his fault the movies are pretty sub par due to Bay's directorial style (or lack thereof).

Wow! There are a bunch of lousy Bay lovers at the Yahoo forums :-B

They have this same topic in the entertainment forum section going on now.

I just tried to post my 2 cents of what I thought there and my comment was stripped in less than a couple of minutes. This happens alot with any unpopular left wing ideas you might have about anything there.

Huh,a topic about Michael Bay getting all butt hurt and acting like a petulant child when one of his actors didn't care for the movie role he was in? Tell me what's new.

Bay vs Scarlet
Bay vs Fox
Bay vs Shia
Bay vs Hugo

No matter the battle, Bay usually wins in the quantity vs quality department. Well you could argue he lost pretty bad with The Island.

Otherwise he's won pretty much all of these battles

Megan talks **** about him and Spielberg...DOTM goes on to make big coin when some thought the departure of the model was going to hurt business.

And I sort of think he's going to win the battles against Shia and Hugo because Transformers is too big at this point where Bay can simply change up the bots and add in a new cosmetic 'actress' and the movie will still make good coin.

Now im not a Bay fanboy. Just saying for all the PR battles...he usually comes out on top. That doesn't mean of course the movies are actually any good.

This will likely be irrelevant come summer 2014.

I don't think anybody has speculated that TF4 will bomb without Weaving. And that's not really what it's about. Bay vs. Weaving is much less of a battle than Bay vs. Fox or even Bay vs. Shia, where the actors were actually talking **** about him (not necessarily undeservedly) and he was publicly retaliating. In this case, Weaving made a much more professional remark that he didn't really enjoy the role. He didn't dig on Bay at all, and Bay's kneejerk response was quickly removed because he probably realized he was overreacting. We wouldn't even know about it if someone hadn't been in the right place at the right time.

I like you. Others won't though. But I like you. You and I? We can laugh at them together. Image

Can I join you?

If the first Bay directed Transformers movie was the only Bay directed Transformers movie then I'd agree with you to. But there has been two more since then with another on the way. So long as he keeps making them then 'haters' will have as much reason to complain about them as 'lovers' will have as much reason to praise them.

On topic, I wonder if we're giving Bay too much credit in saying he realised the error of his comments. I can't imagine someone who would make such impulsive, immature and borderline inappropriate comments would have the reasoning to so quickly realise the mistake. I'm going to give credit to Mike's agent or some other minion.

Back slightly off topic; why are Bay haters automatically classed as Geewunners or variation thereof? I'm not saying such people aren't fans of G1, but I'm sure many of them are also fans of Beast Wars, Beast Machines, the Unicron trilogy, PRIME, maybe even Robots in Disguise. I know I'm nitpicking but it just seems like an inaccurate label. ;)

Fair point.
You may very well be right, but for the longest time, the most vocal of opponents would tell you they were G1 fans to the core, through and through. While some of those opponents have changed, or come from a different generation, the most overwhelming negative opinions come from those who are G1 fans.

They usually cited how it's nothing like the TFs they grew up with etc.

I hate Will Ferrell and do you know what I do? I don't see his movies. I don't spend my time annoying people on Will Ferrell forums every time I hear his name mentioned. I spend my time doing things I enjoy, not bringing others down by shoving my hate filled opinion down their throats. I guess expecting the same courtesy here is too much to ask.

But this isn't a Transformers Movie forum, it's a forum for all things Transformers. It's not as though the people that dislike Bayformers are coming here just to whine about how much they don't like Bayformers. Bayformers news gets thrown their way along with everything else. Now, people are entitled to their opinions, and are entitled to speak their opinions. I think we can agree on that. I also agree, however, that hearing a bunch of whining and complaining every time Bayformer news gets posted is old. Of course, I could say the same for people that complain about Prime when Prime news is posted, or who hate on Animated, or bash the Unicron Trilogy, or the Beast Era, or whatever. So, where do you draw the line between "you have the right to voice an opinion" and "you should stay out of this if you don't like it"?

For starters ... it's a sub-forum dedicated to the movies, so close enough.

And we've had those people over the years. They sign up specifically to discuss the movies. They don't join in any other discussions outside of the movie sub-forum, and most of the time what they discuss is just negativity, and it's the same thing over and over again.

It's life though ... if you're positive, you tend to not make a big deal out of it. But if it's something you dislike, people will get up on their soapbox and holler and holler and holler until they're blue in the face and keep on going.

You really should have been here 4-5 years ago. You would have loved some of the "discussions".

Don't let my join date fool you, I've lurked here and there and everywhere since about 2005 so I caught bits of the discussion and the hate and all that.

It's not a big deal to me. Very chic of Hugo to renounce these roles. Time after time we hear of actors/actresses as I say, renounce there superhero/summer movie roles. Guess Elrond is in the clear with Hugo even though he could be classified as a-same-type-of-role. I mean, these roles all have Halloween masks.

I'm gonna annoy a lot of people here, but I thought the live-action movies were the best thing that's ever happened to Transformers.

It's a great shame he probably won't return to voice Megatron. He was my personal favourite voice for ol' Megs. If they decide to return Megatron as Galvatron, then I would love to see either Frank Whelker or David Kaye voicing him.
