So here's what this is for, post official numbers that people can use when calling their local store to find out if toys are in stock.

Please list the toy, the store, and appropriate number.

Example wrote:
CLASSICs Skywarp and Ultra Magnus two pack, TARGET, XXXXXXXXXX

As always please post your sightings in the sightings database.

I will compile a list by store for the toys when listed.

A few things I've picked up that might be of help...

o If you've got a 24 hour Wal-Mart Supercenter, check them out after 11:00 PM or so. This is usually when they put their stock out. This is one of the nice things about working a graveyard shift. This is actually where I've found most of my stuff.

o Target.com has a nifty feature that lets you check store availability for items, but there are a few catches. One, it seems to be based on SCU, and not DCPI. Also, this may show things like cases that are missing/stolen or just hanging around in the back room. Our nearest Target showed that Deluxe figures were Available for a week or so, and these turned out to be wasted trips.

o Don't go first thing in the morning to Target, Toys R Us or KB Toys. It's possible that these stores will stock things overnight, but more often than not, it's done during the day.

o In my experience, Tuesdays and Thursdays are good days to go looking, especially Thursdays. I'm not sure if this is because they're trying to get product out for the weekend rush or just a quirk of scheduling, but I've found most of my stuff on those days.

o For the love of Primus, don't just cut open boxes or go rifling through ones that are already open. At the very least, it's rude. At worst, I've known of vindictive managers who'll kick people out of stores. However, looking at boxes loaded on a palette isn't quite as bad.

o If you ask an employee to help you, don't be pushy, and don't be offended if they turn you down.

o KB Toys gets a shipping manifest. Toys R Us can look up item codes and see approximate arrival dates. They tend to do this for people who are regular, reliable customers who are nice people. This is why the previous list is so important.

And this is my personal rule... if I ever hear a kid in a store who is looking for something I have in my hands, I always give it up. This past Christmas, I snuck a Cybertron Soundwave to a mom after her son was upset they couldn't find it. She said it probably just made her son's Christmas, and that was worth more to me than having him on the shelf ever could be. (*end warm fuzzy moment*)

O Know your release dates (and keep as up-to-date
on them as possible).

O Call ahead with the relevant info, the more the better.

O Be on good terms with the regular employees in and
around toys.

O Get you friends to keep their eyes out.

O Use the tools at your disposal.
TFWIKI wrote:According to Hasbro, toys that represent flying characters are given more stringent drop tests and rounded/collapsible bits, as children (and the kind of adults who buy Transformers, actually) are more prone to throwing these figures around or ramming them into things (or people).

Wal-Mart:

They use UPCs, so any UPC on your receipt, or on the package itself can be used for tracking purposes. Here's a Bumblebee UPC to help you: 6 53569 23760 0 (Concept Camaro, Deluxe Class Bumblebee)

Kohl's does the same thing, UPCs and whatnot.

Target:

Deluxe DPCI: 087-06-0951
Voager DPCI: 087-06-1021
Leader DPCI: 087-06-1041
Ultimate DPCI: 087-06-1886

TRU:

Deluxe SKN/SKU: 774550
Voyager SKN/SKU: N/A
Leader SKN/SKU: N/A
Ultimate SKN/SKU: 879964

There you go. Anyone that has the info for the ones listed N/A, please could you give the information? Thanks!

Make friends, the more friends you have all working for the common good of finding the toys the better.

Form a group with local collectors and inform each other of what you find (since you can't always hunt, someone from the group may be able to hunt a bit more than you).

Wal Marts get trucks every day except Sunday. Now they may not shelf every day they get trucks all the time.

My tips:

-Always check the very back of shelves, and the tops. It's common that people will hide them for later.

-In understocked stores, ask if anyone can check in the back. If not, then don't push it, just check again another day.

-If you see the manager, ask about shipping dates. This is best applied in Toys R Us. Usually they'll have the info. I know the manager at my local TRU is a great guy, always knows.

-Check out-of-the-way stores, usually small toy stores.

-If you want a TF, and aren't picky, check local Flea Markets. I found mint G1s for dirt before. Now, boxes are no-shows usually, but it's usually the figure you want.

That's all. Not much, but a start.

QFT

Anyhow, I'd add:

- If you're serious about finding something, check regularly. Once a week does not cut it.

- For anyone in a medium size city like the one I'm in (or big one, this probably applies too), go to the next town over that's a little bit out there. You're more likely to find good stock, and in the case of Raleigh, hey, the scalpers don't wanna drive all the way out to Fuquay XD

Meh, it's a service for anyone with the gumption to use it. We can't limit it to those that 'we think' are not going to use it for personal gain, cause that's all of us! Just different levels. :-?

Frimal can we keep this on topic please? I love humor, but this is a thread with a specific purpose, okay? I don't want to invite everyone to start making jokes. I want people to seriously share what works. Yes, I know what you say 'will work' but it also is not something that any collector is likely to do.

Okay? Keep it to serious suggestions please. 8)

Hey, if anyone could get DCPI/UPC/WMN of Rescue Ratchet.... that'd be REAL nice.

I'm definitely on my toes for the WMN of US MP Starscream though. I want him bad. I'm wondering what the packaging's going to look like (similar to US 20th Prime Non-DVD?) and what the price is, though.
