yup. There are only so many ways to make a car or tank shaped thing become a humanoid robot shaped thing. Hell most of the cars in G1 had one of maybe 3 different transformation styles.

I know, right? Why do the other 3rd Party companies even bother doing their own original designs? ****, why does HasTak bother doing any new molds at this point when they can just copy their vast résumé of past designs? Just copying **** and charging out the ass for it = win! 8-}

While admittedly this guy looks cool...it's beyond weak that it's just a souped-up KO. I mean, if they want to pass on the savings of not having all those R&D costs and this fig is only $25 like a KO seeker...so be it, but part of what makes these 3rd Party figs worth the exorbitant price is the amazing design and engineering these no-name people are pulling off and in limited quantities. Count me in the minority that's glad I don't give two craps about the Wreckers and don't find this a must have.

*To be fair, we don't yet know the price of this figure...but I fully expect it to be in the $60-80 range (or even $100+ like their Arcee.) If it proves to be $25-30, then I'll happily retract my rant.

I bet 4 months back you'd never have imagined you'd be saying that about iGear.

4 months ago the "yea" would have been a "you" :P

iGear rather quickly went from "F*** them!" to "F*** yeah!" I will admit to the hate myself but the Kup head turned it around.

Though if nothing else it just shows that "Wrecker Love > iGear Hate".

I'm actually more impressed with the Minbots but if iGear actually follows through on all this stuff I'll be eating my words and buying pretty much the lot - sorry Fansproject!! I still love you too......

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I was saying. Exactly. :BANG_HEAD:

Oh, no, wait. What I was saying is that I don't mind different molds using similar transformation schemes.

Neither do I...provided they're the ones that came up with the transformation scheme...and it's a repaint/retool.

so you'd be against someone using the G1 Prowl/Smokescreen/everyone else/Micromaster/Minicon/bajillions of other transforming robot/car toys scheme of "hood folds down to be chest. arms come out of sides. back of car unfolds to become legs"?

the Seeker transformation scheme has been reused time and again by other toys since G1 as well. as I originally said, there are only so many ways to easily go from one shape to another shape.

Has there been any news on this? I have a feeling the project was scrapped. I know the official Impactor was just announced, but this guy looked amazing, and I was really looking forward to him.

Yes, there has been a lot of news on this figure. But we've decided not to post it anywhere on here just to annoy you :P

Seriously, if there was news, either this topic or another would be updated. This is the #1 Transformers news site for a reason.

Wasn't any harm in asking. These things go quiet for months on end and it's easy to get the feeling you missed something somewhere........

I still want one of these but i think it will never happen.

Yeah, that's what happened, I started thinking I missed some bit of news.

Thanks fellas!

Really hoping the Presser/Impactor still comes out. Was VERY VERY disappointed in the half-hearted retool... well, that whole set of Wreckers. (Mind you, I AM glad they finally are realizing we want those characters.) But since those were revealed — plus tbe mention of an upcoming club Ironfist (repaint with new head from FOC Swindle) — that leaves iGear wide open to deliver and hopefully nail those characters. Those head sculpts are spot on. Hoping they release those in a box to add to the Botcon set, or included them with their Presser release.

You know, I'm sitting here looking at my FOC Wreckers, and I feel the same way -

The retooling leaves a lot to be desired, but the head sculpts are PERFECT.

I think I'd still get a voyager class Impactor if one is made available.

Agreed.

I'm still planning to get the official Wreckers, but looking at this iGear Impactor, the Mech Ideas twins, KFC Perceptor, Mach 5 Ironfist, Roadbuster and Whirl kits, etc... I don't think any of the Hasbro versions will usurp the 3rd party versions on their Wrecker shelf space.

Mind you, I DO have to say the triple changers do a nice job trumping the third party toys, especially for the price. Springer and Sandstorm welcome to the club... and perhaps the upcoming Scoop, Swerve and Tailgate can stand among the wreckers proudly? Okay, maybe the Whirl, too.

Wonder if we'll be seeing a decent Broadsides (or better Astrotrain) in the years to come?

But I digress. Besides the upcoming offerings (including Impactor) I guess my outstanding Wreckers want list is most screaming for a decent... Guzzle, Rotorstorm and Pyro, plus Broadside, Roadbuster, and Overlord.

FansProject Broadside is pretty outstanding.

Also, what Roadbuster kit?

This one. Was a pretty short run, but I think it showed up on Shapeways now.

Pretty decent likeness in head and vehicle, plus the meched-out weapons of the original mold lend themselves to the character. Not perfect, but pretty good. Best option we have thus far, I think.

Mind you, this version is perfection — outside of the fact that it doesn't transform. Was really stoked to buy it... till I found out it's just an action figure.

Hey! I remember writing that. I can't believe it was 4 years ago. Upgrade kits have sure come a long way since then.

I still have that figure in the front line of my Wreckers shelf too!

I really feel that Has/Tak needs to step up their game with making more Wrecker figures. Fans love them and demand them, and the new Generations Whirl looks great.

I loved that Natobot Roadbuster! The only problem I had with it had nothing to do with the upgrade but with the Deluxe size of the figure so I ended up selling it to a fellow Seibertronian and replacing it with a custom repaint of Ultra class Onslaught with a Shapeways head. I still prefer the Warbot Defender for Springer I'd rather the iGear Impactor be a deluxe.
