I definitely wasn't trying to be, no. In fact, the last person I tried to be an arse to was a while ago in reply to something from Rated X, and he had to go shame me by being rather polite in his next reply. Image

Not to sound too judgmental (as I am sure there are plenty of times I am not a paragon of online virtue myself), but Rated X has come a long way in my estimation from someone who I used to have blocked, to someone I'm actually currently collaborating with on something, that being him doing a review of Hercules for my website, where I myself had previously featured Giant. (So that may have some relevance to this thread... I'd post a link to the thread about them, but since I update the thread title every time I update the review series, the link may not work anymore next time I do an update!)

On the other hand, someone else has recently become the second person I've ever blocked...

spinrut or Rodimus, if either of you are still thinking of Giant and want to save a little bit on him, there is a chap on the TFW2005 boards selling his for $330, shipped. Only downside is that he seems to have broken off the gestalt's waist piece.

I'll admit that piece can sometimes be a bit of a pain to get extended, but this guy must have used some serious force to do this! I've never felt any fear of this breaking on my Giant.

Pulling it out is optional, and just makes it easier to pose the gestalt's legs a bit more dynamically. So theoretically, I suppose this could be glued back on and just never pulled out with minimal loss of functionality. (After all, the ability to pull the waist piece out wasn't even an option on the original yellow version of Giant.)

Personally, I'd rather spend a bit more and get a brand new, unbroken one. But if this looks like something you feel you could fix, it could be a way to save $50.

(Pictures of the break are available in the above linked TFW2005 thread.)

I know this is abit of an oldish thread long story short I took a couple of Transformers to work for a themed marketing day When I brought them home I was transforming Maketoys not-Scrapper and I noticed this when mistransformed him.

I noticed that if you turn the shoulder armatures up it kind of looks like his back could work as his chest. Maybe it was an option Maketoys looked at doing and then changed their minds. I find it shows the details of his head more than what it does the correct way.

Hmm... Interesting in concept, but...

Well, not that he didn't already have a bunch of back kibble via his combiner port, but it does at least mostly tuck all together into one big chunk, where here it just seems to be hanging all over the place.

Also, and more distressingly: Aaaaahhh! Backwards fists!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'll stick with the official transformation. Although, if not for the fists, I could see a few minor advantages to this alternative.

I'm on the Hercules boat myself. I wish I could find him for a non-insane price...

That said, if they re-released Yellow Giant with the updated engineering of the Green version I'd buy him.

a quick ebay search shows a complete MISB set for 430 shipped. considering its six 3P figures thats not bad. and if i recall correctly thats about the same as i paid almost two years ago. for a figure like herc(misb), it doesnt get less insane than that.

even just compared to quantron. smaller, less figures, more expensive (unless you managed to get the early bird price).

Maybe wait for the Combiner Wars figures come out and see which sizes best next to them?

Hell, I saw an MISB set with Rage of the Hercules included for $350 + shipping a couple weeks ago. And it didn't even sell! Just gotta keep an eye out.

What is a Non-insane price? this thing cost over $600 plus shipping when it came out, as it is you can get it for half the price today, Hercules is the one combiner that is regularly still at retail and heavily discounted. do you want it for like $100 bucks or something?

I'm not bitching about "MUH 3RD PARTY PRICES" or anything (he looks worth his weight in gold) I'm just low on cash at the moment. Most of the places I've seen selling him have him for about £300 or so, which makes sense given his quality but is still a bit "Whoa!" for an 18 year old British lout with no job. TFSource had him in stock, but he's sold out now.

I'm thinking it might be a better idea to get the individual figures 1 at a time so I can spread the cost out over a longer period of time. TFSource has all of them except Structor and Dr Crank (who I might get via eBay). Not sure who to go for first- going by Vangelus's reviews I'm thinking Madblender/Mixmaster, although Neckbreaker does look fun too.

It doesn't matter, one way or another I'll get him eventually.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that Giant would look awesome done in Autobot colours with new headsculpts? I think every single vehicle mode in the Constructicons is shared by at least 1 Autobot (Scoop, Quickmix, Wedge...Erector...) and I think he'd look great in the orange and yellow colours the Autobot construction vehicles tended to use (especially Micromasters).

Don't do that.

Did you hear me? I'll say it again:

DON'T DO THAT.

You're way better off financially if you save a bit here and there and buy them all at once as a set.

The individual figures each go for $80ish, so that's about $480 USD for the set, minus Rage of the Hercules. I've seen sets go for $350 or less on eBay, including the Rage of the Hercules. That's $130 saved if you are patient, save the money, and wait for the right moment to pounce.

Think of it this way: the difference between buying piece by piece vs. saving & waiting is an MMC Terminus Hexatron :P
