Iacon - Autobot Command Complex: HQ Facility

Homeworld of the Transformers. Drained and ravaged by thousands of vorns of civil war, Cybertron is a mere barren husk of once beautiful and thriving cybernetic world. While recovered enough to allow Transformers to move on its surface once again, it is still plagued by ion storms and any Transformer unfortunate enough to venture there without energon supply of their own is certain to face a stasis lock.

Autobot Headquarters: Landing Pad Alpha

After making there way through the thin atmosphere of Cybertron the Ark-22 finally had touched down on the main landing pad of the Autobot Command Complex, which was conveniently attached to the main headquarters facility. Ultra Magnus had already descended from the landing ramp of the Ark-22 and was the first Autobot in many long cycles to set foot on his homeworld. It felt good to be home, but he couldn't be distracted from his work for to long. He turned to the assembled Autobots under his command.

"Alright, you all know your assignments. Kup, take everyone into the HQ and do your best to get it up and running." The Autobot field commander then walked over to Grimlock. "Alright. I know your not pleased with this scouting mission I have given you. But we don't know who or what is out there, but I know you and your team are the only ones who can handle any threat that might be on Cybertron. So I need you and your team out there, finding left over supplies, making sure the planet is safe, killing any threat that there is and finding the Decepticons. Understood?"

The hard optics of Ultra Magnus bored into the visor of the Dinobot commander as he spoke.

Kup nodded at Ultra Magnus before he waved to his group. “C’mon lads and lass, lets start cleaning up this base.” The elder Autobot lead the way to the entrance of the base. He walked up to the door controls and, after brushing some dust and debris off of it, punching in the entry code. When nothing happened he cursed to himself. He produced a portable charger unit and attached it to the door controls. This time the panel lit up and opened after he entered the code.

“We’re gonna need to reenergize the whole base or we’ll be doing this everytime we want a door opened. Hot Rod, Springer, start siphoning off fuel from the ship into the base. Once we’ve got enough juice in it go ahead and seal the landing pad dome. Last thing we need is for some slaggin’ electrical storm to fry the circuits of our ship.”

Springer smiled, “Sure Kup, no problem. Come on Roddy, I’ll wrestle the fuel hose over and you can work the pump controls. Maybe if we hurry up we can find something a little more exciting to do.”

Hot Rod shot a smile back at Springer. “Sure thing Springer.” The two Autobots walked over to the external fuel access hatch and went to work.

Kup pulled his musket out as he peered into the base. He looked back at Howlstrike and Arcee. “Alright, we’re going inside to clean up the place. Keep your optics open and you weapons ready. This place has been abandoned a long time so who knows what might have moved in while we were gone. Lighting won’t be great either, probably just some emergency ones still powered, so watch your step. We’ll head for the command center and see if we can get some systems activated to speed things up a bit.” The old Autobot led the way in, carefully stepping inside the base and making his way down the corridors.

*

Grimlock stood on the landing pad with the rest of his team. He had kept quiet during their trip back to their homeworld, taking in the sight of the ruined planet and now the ruined city in silence. Once he had heard about how the war had gone in his absence he knew that Cybertron would look bad. He’d been a part of fighting and war for a very long time. Seeing the ruins of his home might have stirred some emotions in him deep down, but there was no sign of it on the surface.

He stared right back at Magnus as he reminded him of his ‘duty’ on Cybertron. He wasn’t happy about the mission, or being put under the command of Prime’s number one lackey. It meant they would go about things they way they had been since he was gone, a way that was losing them this war. They didn’t want him to fight his war on his own terms, the messy, dirty way that would actually win the war. Things had become too much about following rules and protocols. He would have to change that or simply break away from the Autobots all together. He wasn’t interested in leading his Dinobots on a side that didn’t even want to win.

But that would wait, for now. Now he would play the good little soldier, or, as close as he could come to that. The Dinobot leader stared at Magnus for another moment before speaking. “Come Dinobots, we see if there something left worth fighting here.” Grimlock then walked off for the patrol, assuming the rest of his team would follow him.

Autobot Headquarters: Landing Pad Alpha

Arcee couldn't help but feel a little disorientated, the pink tinted Fembot stepping down upon the surface of her home world, memories from her past clashing with the present. This had been the place, the very spot upon which she had boarded the shuttle that had taken them all away, the last Autobots to abandon their Home world. It had been barely controlled chaos then, a mass exodus from a dying planet, hundreds of Autobots pounding the pavement, and several thousand tonnes of shuttles, equipment and resources being taken with them.

The last day of occupied Cybertron had been an overwhelming hive of activity.

Now there was barely even a whisper.

Ghosts on an absent wind.

And yet, the Autobots had come home, their home, finally.

Iacon was alive once more.

"Try to stay out of trouble..."

Arcee smiled as both Hot Rod and Springer split from the group to complete their assigned task. It was somewhat needless, the odds of anything going wrong during such a routine assignment were slim to none, but then again...the two of them were involved. She was certain they would manage to find something.

In either case, she couldn't afford to lend such matters more thought, not as she fell into line behind Kup, and headed towards the central hub of the Autobot Capital. Howlstrike came with them, an Autobot she didn't know, and one that seemed to be spending a lot of time with one of her most respected peers. The pink tinted Fem trusted Kups judgment, perhaps even more than she trusted Primes, and so she possessed no hesitation in trusting her back to the stranger.

As Kup prepared his musket, the trio heading deep into the darkened tunnels, Arcee pulled one of her energon blades free from its harness across her back. With a flick of a switch, it hummed quietly into life, its scant, Sapphire illumination casting shadows along the ancient walls.

It seemed a little odd, to be heading deep into the Autobot stronghold with weapons at the ready, but right now, they couldn't afford to not be careful.

"Do you think anyone could have survived here...anyone who was left behind?"

Howlstrike stepped out of the Ark-22 and onto the landing pad. He was finally back on the surface of Cybertron after what seemed like endless vorns of exile for himself and his race. It was still a shattered version of the world that he once knew and called home, but that would soon change once the Autobots had secured the planet. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be so easy considering the Decepticons would surely be here and attempt to retake Cybertron for themselves. Howl would do everything in his power to prevent that from happening. But, he was only one mech. It would take the entire team for this mission to be a complete success.

Howlstrike watched as Kup approached the main doors of the base and opened them with the help of a portable charger. On the old mech’s orders, Hot Rod and Springer then went off to transfer energon into the base so that it would look alive again instead of the empty husk it currently was. Howl then followed behind Kup and Arcee as the trio entered the base and made their way down the long dark corridors. Some dim lights were still functioning, but only barely. They would have to rely on their memory of this place to guide them through to the command center. Howl’s memory was sketchy at best, however, having only been at this base a couple of times before Cybertron was abandoned. He had switched sides not long before the planetwide exodus began and never had the chance to get to know the Autobot headquarters like the others did.

That would now change as Howlstrike cautiously moved through the base with his long time friend and the pink femme. He made note of the different passageways, so he’d be able to find his way through again at a later time. It was then that something caught his attention, something in the darkness ahead. He wasn’t sure what it was, but there was something not right.

“Wait,” Howl said quietly. “I sense something.” He moved by Arcee and Kup, lifting his head up. He sniffed the stale air as he kept his optics focused ahead. The scent of something caught his nostrils and he swiftly pulled out his energo sword and held it at the ready. “I don't know if anyone survived here,” he replied to Arcee’s comment, “But, I think we’re not alone.” Howl kept his optics ahead for several astroseconds, expecting something to happen or to come at them.

Nothing. No movement.

Howlstrike slowly lowered his sword and looked back at Kup and Arcee. “Perhaps it’s just the stale air I smell.” Just as he said that, a small mechanical creature leapt from the darkness, coming from the side instead of the front. Howl instinctively moved to intercept before it could latch on to Arcee’s head. The Autobot hunter quickly slashed at it with his sword, cutting the creature in half. It fell to the floor in two motionless pieces, sparks flying.

Howlstrike stood over the dismembered attacker, looking down at it. “A cyber-rat! Disgusting creatures.” Howl then looked at Kup and Arcee. “We should be careful. Where there’s one....” His warning was interrupted by the sound of more things moving in the dark. About a half dozen pairs of glowing, red eyes then appeared several yards in front of the Autobot trio. “....there’s usually more.”

The Autobot hunter then took a defensive stance as more cyber-rats emerged from the darkness ahead.

*********
Sludge followd Grimlock and the other Dinobots out of the Ark-22 and onto the landing pad. The last time he saw Cybertron, it was a living, breathing world full of cybernetic life. It had taken some damage from the long war, but nothing like what he witnessed now. It saddened Sludge to see his home in this sorry state. Perhaps if the Dinobots had not disappeared for so long this could have been prevented.

Sludge listened as Ultra Magnus reminded Grimlock of his orders. It was something the Dinobot Commander did not need to hear. He knew full well what needed to be done. Grimlock was, in the Jungle Warrior’s opinion, the stronger leader present. Grimlock said nothing to Magnus in response. He simply told the Dinobots to follow him as he then walked off. Sludge looked at his teammates. “Guess we should go now,” he said simply and then followed his commander. Where Grimlock led, Sludge would surely follow.

Autobot Headquarters: Corridors

Arcee had to admit, she was somewhat startled as the Cyber-Rat flew and screeched towards her head, especially since her attention had been directed elsewhere. Fortunately, Howlstrike had been on hand to swiftly, and cleanly, slice the rodent clean in two, a shower of sparks erupting from its split torso.

Ordinarily she would feel remorse over the senseless loss of life, when creatures who wanted nothing more than to live and be left alone were cut down and left to suffer. The pink tinted Femme, however, found it difficult to summon sympathy for the sparking creature at her feet, the Cyber-Rats possessing few qualities that were deserving of it.

Cruel and vicious little beasts, all teeth and claws and cruel intent. If the Decepticons did not exist, Arcee believed that the Autobots would have been drawn into an endless war with these nasty little critters instead.

Something that, somewhat surprisingly, could still happen, given that Howlstrike pointed out what every Protoform soon learned. Where there was one, there was always more…

With lighting speed, Arcee pulled her second energon blade from its harness and hummed it into lethal life. With grace and speed, the Femme ducked low and brought both sapphire blades sweeping outwards, a wide and perfect arc as two of the vicious creatures leapt and snapped towards her.

With a flash of sapphire light, and a burst of blinding sparks, both of the offending rodents were severed clean in two. It was a fleeting, yet lethal moment, the pink tinted Fembot preparing herself for many more…

Autobot Headquarters

After giving Grimlock his orders Ultra Magnus walked into the base and looked around. The place was a mess, it would take a lot of work to get down. Tagging along behind him was Wheeljack, carrying in each hand a case load of equipment he had brought with him. The pair walked towards Kup, he was overseeing the restoration of the headquarters.

"Kup, status report?" Ultra Magnus order.

Wheeljack meanwhile set to work on getting his equipment set up and running.

"Just let me know where you need me and what you want me to do."

Howlstrike readied himself as several more cyber-rats charged directly at him. With a quick slice of his sword, two of the creatures were down, but there were still more coming. These things are tenacious, Howl thought to himself as he decapitated another rat before it was able to latch on to his shoulder. He then turned to the pink femme, who had just taken out a couple rats of her own and saw more approaching her from the side.

“Look out! To your left!” Howl shouted to Arcee. He moved to help her, but just then another cyber rodent leapt at him from the darkness. The Autobot hunter spun around, but not in time to avoid being tackled by the larger critter.

Howlstrike landed hard on his aft section as the cyber-rat clawed at him with a mindless ferocity that he had only seen exhibited before by some of his former Predacon teammates. The creature’s red eyes stared down at Howl as its jaws snapped at him repeatedly. This one was much bigger than the rest. It was possibly the alpha male of the pack. Howl knew of that hierarchy mindset all too well. Take down the head rat and the rest will then run away.

Howlstrike tried to bring his sword up, but was unable to as the cyber rodent bit into his right forearm. “Arrrr! Slaggin’ pest!” Howl quickly brought his legs up and pushed off against the creature, propelling it away from the Autobot hunter. “You wanna play rough do you, vermin?” Howl then transformed into wolf mode and leapt at the cyber-rat. The two mechanical beasts tangled with one another, clawing and biting at each other until finally Howlstrike grabbed a hold of the rodent’s head within his wolf jaws and crushed it into a mangled mess of scrap metal.

Returning to robot mode, Howlstrike peered down at his latest kill. He then let out a deafening howl to signify his victory. Now that the largest cyber-rat was out of commission the rest would surely flee, or so he hoped.

(OOC: My apologies for not posting here in so long. The past couple of weeks have been extremely busy for me)

Autobot Headquarters – Corridors

Kup glanced down at the remains of the first dead cyber-rat. “Nasty little critters, although if you cut them up just right you can get a bit of useable energon out of ‘em. It isn’t the best tasting fuel around but if its all you’ve got it isn’t too bad. I learned that the hard way at the battle of Altihex. My unit was holed up in a bunker surrounded by Decepticons. We had the defensive advantage and the Con leader wasn’t willing to send his guys against us to get massacred. He figured he’d just starve us out. It was then that we had to start turning to the cyber-rats that were…”

Before the old timer could finish his story several other of the creatures emerged from the shadows and converged on them. With an annoyed growl Kup leveled his musket at a group of them and fired. The acid splashed on the group of them and the sounds of their death shrieks began filling the corridor. A few more shots took out several more as Kup spared a glance at Arcee and Howlstrike. “You kids and your fancy blades, always liking to get up close and personal. Let me tell ya, if you ever meet an angry Battle Bear, then you won’t be so excited to get up close and fight with your knives.”

The veteran soldier looked over as Howlstrike tangled with a monster of a cyber-rat. He wanted to help the young Autobot, but he knew that he was probably enjoying himself in this little battle. It was good to let him blow off some steam now as he imagined things were going to be a bit slow in the times to come. Moving supplies and cleaning up weren’t exactly the most action packed or exciting things to be doing. He looked over at Howlstrike and smiled. “Feel better now lad? We should be able to get a good amount of fuel at of that one. Remind me to show you how to do that later.”

Kup didn’t wait for a reply before turning and continuing down the corridor towards the command center. He reached the door in short order. Producing the portable charging unit he pressed it against the door controls and punched in his code, unlocking them. He reached in and pried the doors apart the rest of the way and stepped inside. He was moving towards the main control panel when Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack joined them.

“So far so good sir. Had a little excitement on the way here but nothing we couldn’t handle. Now if Springer and Hot Rod are done pumping the fuel into the base we should be ready to power this place up.”

>>”Hot Rod, Springer, are you two done pumping fuel into the base?”<<

Hot Rod’s voice came back over the comm. Line. >>”Roger that Kup. We are starting up the station pumps now. You should have power in a few seconds.”<<

>>”Good job lad. Now both of you get your afts in here so you can help clean up. Don’t think you’re getting out of it.”<<

Kup turned back to Ultra Magnus. “Power should be coming back any second now.” Even as he spoke the main lights began to flicker on and control panels slowly lit up. Kup clapped his hands together. “Alright Autobots, lets take up stations and get Ultra Magnus here a real status report.

*

Iacon – Near Autobot HQ

Grimlock leapt off of the landing platform, landing on his feet with a tremendous crash on the actual surface of Cybertron. He glanced around at the downtrodden state of Iacon. The worst part was knowing that this was likely one of the most intact parts of Cybertron, being the Autobot capital and ultimate stronghold. It was probably untouched compared to what the rest of the planet looked like.

The Dinobot leader turned to look at his team. “Dinobots, we move to secure base for now. Can’t launch missions without staging and fall back point. Even Magnus know that, and he know we strongest Autobots around. Let others spend time cleaning and repairing.” He glanced out at the surrounding area. “Still though, me not want to waste too much time securing base, hunting whatever creatures and empties might still be around here. We scout perimeter of base, then we move to get some supplies me hide here long time ago.”

If he were capable of it Grimlock would have flashed a smirk at his team. He’d made sure to form a few stashes across the planet back in their more active days. With Prime constantly threatening to have him thrown in the brig or out of the Autobots, it paid to have his own little munitions and fuel dumps scattered around. Of course after all of that time some of them had likely been discovered, but he had a good feeling about the one in Iacon.

“Swoop, take to skies, circle base and look for anything that might cause trouble. Rest of us will spread out and circle base together, form a nice perimeter around it for little Prime so he feel nice and safe.” With that said Grimlock drew his rifle and began marching around the base, looking for signs of movement or other activity.

Inside Autobot Headquarters

Howlstrike watched as the smaller cyber-rats began retreating as he had hoped they would since the big one was now dead. As they disappeared into the darkness, Howl couldn’t help but smile as he looked over to his friend, Kup. “As a matter of fact, I do feel better now,” the Autobot hunter responded, looking back down at the alpha rat. “Fuel, huh? From that thing? Don’t know if I want that rat’s juices inside my servos, but whatever keeps me going, I guess.”

Howlstrike then quickly followed behind Kup as the old timer led the way down the corridor to the command center entrance. Once Kup had the recharging unit in place, Howl stepped up and aided his friend in prying the doors apart. “Let me give you a hand.” With the two of them at work, the doors were easily opened.

Once inside, Howlstrike waited and watched as Kup approached the primary control console. At the same time, Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus entered the command center. Howl stood at attention, displaying the appropriate respect for a commanding officer. He did not know Magnus very well, but he did know that Magnus was one of Prime’s most trusted commanders. Kup had also spoken highly of Magnus in the past, so Howl knew that he was fully capable of leading this unit.

After Kup received a brief update from Hot Rod and Springer, the lights in the command center began to come on one by one, illuminating the large room in a refreshing glow. Simultaneously, the many computer terminals began coming to life for the first time in countless vorns.

Once the power was up and running, Kup gave the order for the Autobots to assume a station. Unsure where to go at first, Howlstrike paused a moment before he finally sat down at the security station. Not being technologically savvy, Howl had some difficulty in accessing the base’s security systems or perhaps they were not functioning. Either way, Howl needed some assistance.

Turning to the old timer, Howlstrike grumbled. “Hey, Kup, I’m having trouble accessing the system. It won't respond to anything I do. Can you help me out?”

Iacon – Outside Autobot Headquarters

Sludge followed Grimlock off the landing platform. He looked around at the ruins of the once great city of Iacon. The place was in disarray, but still standing at least. It had been a very long time since the Jungle Warrior had last seen Iacon and that was back when it was still a functioning city state that lit up the Cybertronian skies and was bustling with activity. Now, it was dead and dark, a far cry from its former glory.

Sludge listened as Grimlock gave his orders and then nodded in response to his commander. Sludge was obedient almost to a fault, but that was because he believed so strongly in Grimlock’s ability to lead the Dinobots. He knew that Grimlock was not perfect, especially after recent events brought into question the Dinobot Commander’s overall judgment. But, Grimlock was still the strongest in the Jungle Warrior’s optics and he would continue to follow him.

Sludge drew out his laser rifle and followed behind Grimlock as the Dinobots began to spread out around the base. He kept a reasonable distance from his leader, not wanting to shadow Grimlock too closely. As Sludge plodded on, he moved further away from the Dinobot Commander before turning down a darkened alleyway to check for anything suspicious.

Autobot HQ

Ultra Magnus watched as the power slowly began to pour life once more into the long dormant headquarters that at one point had been the nerve center for the Autobot war effort on Cybertron. Old memories came back to the Autobot field commander as he recalled walking these halls, full of activity, as Autobots came to and fro as they were deployed to battles all over the planet, or delivered valuable data. It was odd to him to see this facility so empty and devoid of life. The large mech walked into the large command center as he heard Kup bark out orders and the others of his team take up their stations. Just behind him was Wheeljack, his tool kits in his hands. No doubt the engineer was going to be of critical important getting this place up and running again, and on line.

He stood silently for a moment as he gazed out over the large room. It was two tired. The bottom level was ringed with many control stations, most were for gathering and organizing data from field sources from sectors all over the planet. The operators of those stations were meant to sort through the data they received and to organize it for their superiors. On the second tier was the position of the commanders who were responsible for giving out orders that moved armies. This was where all of the major Autobot battle plans were devised and organized. Often Optimus Prime would man this station as he oversaw the entirety of the Autobot war effort. In his absence as he lead critical operations himself other members of the Autobot high command would man this post.

It had been a very long time since Ultra Magnus had last been here, and it felt almost dream like as he ascended the steps to the upper command tier. The field commander stood at that post, nostalgia washed over him from the early days of the war, as odd as that felt to him. He gazed over the ruined command center and wondered if this was the beginning of rebirth for Cybertron.

"Alright, so far so good on getting this place secured. Once we have established control over the systems here I want to see how much of our information gathering network is operational." He turned to the venerable old Kup. "Kup, have Hot Rod and Springer do a sweep of the building to ensure that there is nothing hazardous in here. This includes inaccessible areas, areas flooded with toxic or radioactive contamination, and anything large and nasty like our cyber-rat friends." He then turned to the other Autobots in the command center. "Arcee, Howlstrike I want you two to check on the command centers monitors and consoles to see what ones work and what ones don't. Wheeljack, see what you can do about accessing our information network so we can work on that once we have this place straightened away."

Down below Wheeljack nodded at Ultra Magnus' command. He walked over to a near by station he knew was used to monitoring the status of the various satellites and automated listening posts that had been established all over Cybertron. The engineer dropped into the seat and tried to get the console working. It was operational, but it kept flickering on and off. After several failed attempts to get it working Wheeljack gave the underside of the console a good, hard kick, a loud bang echoed through the command center, but it did the trick. Working quickly he did his best to try and access any incoming information, he didn't have high hopes that a lot was still on line.

Before the evacuation of Cybertron there was a battle that was waged between small special opts teams who would be constantly striking at enemy listening posts and satellites in orbit to try and knock out the other sides eyes and ears. It was a constant struggle to keep the Autobot information gathering network on line as Decepticon strike teams kept locating and eliminating hidden listening posts and satellites. After eons of no use and maintenance Wheeljack had no idea what was left. As information began to trickle in as long dormant posts and satellites began to pump back information he could see many of them had gone off line. With the satellites he could see many had fall out of orbit and crashed, others had floated off into space, others had collided with each other, and even more still had suffered fatal malfunctions. A few were still on line, but it was going to take time to get them operational again. The situation on the ground was a bit better, but not much. So far less then a quarter of the land based listening posts had responded back, and most of them were running on emergency power. Seems the years of neglect had take its toll on them as well.

Wheeljack knew he had his work cut out for him.

* * *

Snarl had followed Grimlock off the landing pad and listened as he gave the word to spread out and begin a sweep of the immediate area. The desert warrior was a little releaved to have the chance to get out on his own as he was still uncertain of how he felt about the new arrangement for the Dinobots. He had little faith that Grimlock had really changed that much and he was certain it was only a matter of time before the self serving Dinobot leader did something that endangered them all. He drew his long ranged laser rifle as he began to spread out from the other Dinobots.

The lumbering Snarl picked his way through a ruined street. It was clear that one of the large buildings that had once lined this road had collapsed and destroyed the structure just across from it, as well as partially collapsing the building to its left. Smashed glass and twisted beams and metal once part of the building were strewn all about and the Dinobot warrior had to carefully climb up the massive heap of rubble. He wondered just how much of the city was in the is condition? Iacon had not seen any major combat before the evacuation. Sure Decepticon air raids were common, but they were common in all of the Autobot rear areas, and those raids never truly accomplished much other then fierce dog fights. Though Snarl was sure that this collapse, like many of the others he was sure had occurred, were more the result of neglect and exposure to the elements of space After so long with out and atmosphere to protect it Snarl was sure Cybertron had suffered several strikes by commits, meteors, and other such space based objects.

Once at the top of the fallen skyscraper Snarl stopped to observe what he could see from his higher vantage point. He didn't see anything surprising, just ruined buildings that were in various stages of collapse given the long years of neglect. However, he did spot something unusual further up the street. He slid down the other side of the rubble heap and made his way cautiously up the street, weapon at the ready in case anything jumped out of the darkness. He reach the spot, an intersection up from where he had stopped and looked down. A massive crater was there, it could very easily could of been made by a meteor, but at the same time it looked as if something large could of burrowed under the surface and could now be making a home under the streets of Iacon.

>>Snarl to Grimlock. I am north east of our origin point by a few kliks. I have found a large crater that does not appear to have been caused by any natural body. Do you wish me to investigate further or mark it for further inspection later?<<

Howlstrike was becoming increasingly more frustrated with the computer terminal he was sitting at. Due to his lack of technical knowledge, he was unable to gain access to any of the security systems, assuming they were still operating. Howl had asked his friend, Kup, for assistance, but before the old timer could respond, Ultra Magnus issued new orders. Howl turned around in his chair and gave his full attention to the City Commander. Once Magnus had finished, the Autobot hunter stood from his seat.

"Yes sir! I'm on it! The security station seems to be working properly. I'm just unable to access the internal system, itself. But that's probably just because of my inability to work a computer properly. I'll go check the rest of the terminals as you command, sir." Howlstrike finished speaking as he moved away from the security station. He was relieved that he no longer had to struggle with system access. Just checking to see if monitors and consoles worked was something a bit more Howl's style and capability. After all, it doesn't take much to simply turn them on to see if they are functional.

One by one, Howlstrike moved to each computer terminal around the entire command center and switched them on. Most seemed to be functioning normally, but there were a few that had damaged screens and only projected static or nothing at all. The majority of the consoles, themselves, were all responding well enough, but it was hard to ascertain their complete functionality when some of the screens didn't work. Regardless, Howl did his best with his minimal computer knowledge as he continued to move around the large room.

Once Howlstrike was done checking each station, the former Predacon approached Ultra Magnus to give his report. "Sir, I've check all of the computer consoles and display screens. Monitors 3, 6 and 9 are inoperative. The rest are functioning normally from what I can see. Only one console is seriously damaged, and that's #6. The rest are fine with only a few broken keys here and there. Nothing major, though." Howl kept his optics locked on Magnus, waiting for any kind of reaction or response from the commanding mech. "Is there anything else you need me to check, sir? Perhaps I could start looking for replacement parts for what's damaged?"

Autobot Headquarters: Command Center

There is nothing like stepping into the past to understand the relentless march of technology, it was a feeling of both nostalgia and a little sadness that washed over her as she stepped into the Command Center of Iacon, the very mind of the Autobot Resistance. Arcee had only been in here once before, the one time she had been granted clearance during her earliest years, ironically then, as it was now, it had been at the side of her first mentor, and father figure, Kup.

The pink tinted Femme had been fresh faced then, barely more than a Protoform, having almost only just resigned her commission as a medic to serve along the front lines and had only seen a handful of battles. She had only been granted admittance as Kups aide back then, at least in an official capacity, the rookie soldier allowed a glimpse into the heartbeat of the Resistance, the upper echelons of her cause, the heights to which she had hoped to achieve.

Optimus Prime had not been present, commanding his forces from the dais, but that wasn't who she had wanted to meet. No, back then, while the supreme commander was deep in the trenches, it was Elita 1 at Iacons Helm, the entire reason Arcee was who she was today.

The pink tinted Fembot had never forgotten that day, especially now as it reflected back at her.

It was so quite, like all of Iacon, waiting for her children to come home. The Autobots had marched on, the means they possessed to fight their never ending war had done so with them, Iaon on the other hand, lost and abandoned, had not.

"No school like old school..." she whispered quietly as she marched past the consoles, a small smile upon her features. The monitors, the interfaces, she couldn't believe how much they had changed, they seemed so...clunky, nothing like the streamlined mechanics and aesthetics that had replaced them.

She was amazed Wheeljack was able to contain himself, no doubt inundated with ideas on how to update and upgrade the old girl. Iacon deserved no less, to be the best.

Still, she admitted, it had its charm.

Almost from the moment Howlstrike admitted defeat at the seat of the security, moving on to check other system, Arcee took his place. The pink tinted Femme, more familiar with the aesthetics of its design, was able to negotiate the more redundant systems with greater ease, getting to the heart of the network without much hassle.

>>"New Protege Kup?"<<

Arcee opened the private line to her own, long time mentor as she worked, quietly amused by the realization that much of what she was doing now had been taught to her by the very same Mech. She had noticed how Howlstrike stayed close to the well respected Mech, and clearly held him in high regard, and she was curious as to what the connection was.

>>"You haven't been missing Hot Rod have you?"<<

Even as she spoke across the secure channel, she achieved success at her station, pleased with her progress enough to report it, turning in her seat to look upon the Command Dias, and Ultra Magnus.

"The Grid is on line and operational Commander...barely, I'm afraid time has taken its toll".

Autobot Headquarters – Command Center

Kup nodded at Magnus’ command and swiftly opened a secure comm. link with the cavalier. Thankfully the lad couldn’t screw this mission up; he had Springer with him to keep him under control; this made the elder mech much more calm with giving the order as Ultra Magnus had requested. >>”Hot Rod, you and Springer need to perform a thorough sweep of the building. And before you ask that includes everything. Make sure this place is free of any more vermin.”<< It didn’t take long for the young Bot to respond.

>>”Will do Kup. “<<

Kup then made his way over to Howlstrike and placed a reassuring hand on the former Predacon’s shoulder. It was then that he received Arcee’s comm.. >>”I ain’t missing anything that punk has offered me. As for Howl, he’s a good kid. Former Pred. He made his way over to us and I took him on as a…..well, I felt for him. No one seems to think he can be trusted, but I for one have mo reservations about having him on our side.”<< He closed the link and looked over to the femme and smiled.

Autobot Headquarters – Pumping Station

Hot Rod cut off his link and looked over at Springer. He offered a crooked smile and waved his hand in the direction of the building. “Kup wants us to do a sweep of the entire building. I’ll tell you this, we come across any small spaces you’re going in. I’ll watch you try to wriggle your way in and out.” He chuckled lightly as he moved past his friend and began making his way into the building.

Autobot Headquarters: Command Center

A Predicon?

Arcee had to admit, as her sapphire eyes, for the briefest moment, widened in surprise, that was unexpected. It wasn't unheard of, for a Decepticon to switch sides, and as much as she hated to admit, it was just as common for Bots to flip as well, but a Predicon? From what she had heard, they were a pretty savage group, even more bloodthirsty than the average Con, the idea that one of them could secretly possess the qualities and desires of an Autobot?

That was oddly reassuring.

Even a cauldron of the darkest sparks could produce a potentially noble spirit, there may be hope for the universe yet.

As Kup offered her a smile, a sign of affection from a father figure she had spent years earning, she smiled back with a small nod, returning her primary attention to the rebooting Security Grid. Despite Kups frequent demeanor to the contrary, this was hardly the first time the respected veteran had taken a fledging Autobot under his wing, and Arcee was pretty sure that he enjoyed it.

>>"If you vouch for him Kup, that's good enough for me"<<

She confirmed over the secure line, adding just one final bit.

>>"...and Hot Rod missed you too"<<

With her curiosity concerning Howlstrike satisfied for the moment, the pink tinted Femme had little trouble finding the Caviler in question, and her also long time friend and ally Springer, roaming about the halls on the Grid before her.

"Behave yourselves boys..."

She transmitted over the comm.

"...I can see you".

Weapon: Energo-Sword
Iacon – Outside Autobot Headquarters

Grimlock stalked down one of the roads of Iacon, his head swiveling back and forth as he looked for any sign of danger. He turned down another road and paused for a second. In a flash he lashed out with his energo-sword, cleaving a cyber-rat in half. The Dinobot leader grunted. Is this what he was reduced to now, scout missions and pest control? No, this wouldn’t stand. As soon as this bit of their mission was over he was going to take a more personal spin on scouting. It would be a bit more like looking for trouble. The best defense is a good offense, after all.

The Dinobot commander was interrupted from his thoughts by the message from Snarl. >>”Mark it and send coordinates back to base. Let other Autobots worry about that, we here to look for trouble, they can worry about holes in road.”<<

The Autobot warrior continued down the road until something caught his optic. He walked over to a pile of debris and began carefully sifting through it with his deactivated sword. Soon he was heaving large chunks of collapsed building and other wreckage. Underneath it all lay one of the numerous flying freight vehicles the Autobots had used to move munitions when the war was still being waged on Cybertron. Even though as a race they mostly possessed faster moving alternate modes it didn’t completely erase the need for other vehicles.

Grimlock pried open the hatch and stepped inside the vehicle. The windshield was smashed in and there were several dents and some corrosion, but it all appeared to be intact. Likely it had been abandoned at the last minute before the evacuation. If he had any luck at all it might still be running. He dropped into the pilot seat and activated the vehicle’s generator. There was a whine as long dormant systems slowly started to reactivate. Just as he had hoped there was still some fuel left in it, enough to make it useful, for now.

He activated the engines and with a creek and groan the vessel lifted up into the air. It was a hovering vehicle, fortunately. A wheeled or even tracked vehicle would probably have problems with the ruined roads. He slowly steered the vehicle out into the road and began traveling down it, still looking for anything of interest. >>”Dinobots, me think me found us a ride. Meet me at these coordinates when done scouting your sector and we find something more interesting to do.”<< He passed along the coordinates after he finished his message.

Autobot Headquarters – Pumping Station

Springer snickered at Hot Rod’s comment before giving him a light punch on the shoulder. “I don’t think so kid. I’m sure it’ll be me throwing you up through some hole in the ceiling looking for some nasty critter that decided to make a nest up there. Or it’ll be me trying to pull you out of some hole you get yourself stuck in. I’m not even going to try and do any of that rooting around. It’s obvious that’s why Kup is having you stick with me. You do the dirty work and I pull your after out when you get in trouble.”

The triplechanger shot Hot Rod a smirk to make sure he knew he was kidding. “Alright Roddy, lets see what we can find in this place.” He keyed open the door and walked inside. “I doubt we’ll find anything more interesting than some vermin to kill though. Maybe we’ll find someone’s secret flask of real energon or some weapons or something. I’d rather not just be a glorified exterminator here.”

He looked up at a nearby security camera and smiled and waved before activating a wall comm. to talk back to her. “Don’t worry Arcee, I’ll make sure none of the nasty rats or vermin survive the wrath of mighty Springer and Hot Rod! We wouldn’t want that pretty pink finish of yours getting scratched up.” He chuckled to himself before poking Hot Rod in the chest. “Isn’t that right Roddy?”

Iacon Alleyway - Outside Autobot Headquarters

The cyber-rat was upon Sludge before he could do anything to avoid it. It came at him from the darkness behind him as the Jungle Warrior was busy scouting around the ruins of his sector. The mechanical rat latched on to the back of his large shoulders and began gnawing at him with a ferocious intensity.

“Ow! Get off me, vermin!” Sludge shouted as he brought his sword up over his shoulders and head, attempting to slash at the cyber critter. It wasn’t doing any good, however. The rat was just out of reach thanks to Sludge's big wings in robot mode. The huge Dinobot then tried to shake the creature off, but that was even more useless. The rat was holding on for dear life, and Sludge wasn’t exactly the quickest mech around. It would take a lot more than a few slow motion shakes to loosen the grip of this metal beast.

Sludge then placed his sword away and tried reaching back with both hands in an attempt to grab a hold of the cyber-rat and pull it off of him. This try was met with his hands being bitten several times by the vicious rodent. “Ouch! That it! Me no play anymore!” With that said Sludge ran backwards as fast as his big legs could carry him and slammed his back directly into a nearby wall. As a result, the cyber-rat’s body was crushed into a pulp between the wall and the Dinobot.

As Sludge moved out into the center of the alley again, the rat’s limp form fell off his back and landed in a heap on the ground. “Stupid rat,” the Jungle Warrior muttered as he heard more vermin moving around somewhere nearby. Sludge was about to ready himself for another round when he received Grimlock’s transmission and the coordinates at which to meet him. The Dinobot quickly opened a comm link to his commander:

>>Me Sludge hear you, Grimlock. Me got coordinates. Will meet you shortly.<<

Drawing his energo sword out again, Sludge turned and made his way out of the alley and onto an open road where there was more light. The damage he had sustained from the cyber-rat was minimal, just a few scratches and dents. Nothing his internal systems couldn't take care of. However, he still had to be more aware of his surroundings in the future just in case more of those things decided to attack him. Keeping his optics peeled for anything small and nasty, the Jungle Warrior plodded along, heading for the rendezvous point.

Hot Rod smirked back at his best friend and placed a hand on his shoulder. He moved into the camera’s view and offered Arcee a broad smile and mock salute. “Aw, don’t worry yourself over us, Arcee, we’ll be fine. Besides, Springer’s going in first.” He swiftly moved his hand off of the triplechanger’s shoulder and slapped him on the back. He looked back to the camera and spoke to the pink femme again. “Of course if you’re that concerned about the two of us you could always come down here and join us.” He chuckled lightly as he he motioned for Springer to follow him.

Autobot Headquarters: Command Center

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up boys..."

Arcee sighed following Springers remarks concerning her paint job, he wasn't serious, and the pink tinted fembot knew that, but still, that didn't mean he was getting off the hook. It had always been like this, with the three of them. She had known Hot Rod first, a raw recruit, just like herself, and then there had been Springer, already experienced, the trooper who showed them the ropes.

She'd had friends before she joined the war, mostly medics like she herself had been constructed to be, but now she couldn't imagine any others she would value more, she couldn't imagine a life without them. Even if they did leave her feeling exasperated more than once.

"...just remember, I already have a Homecoming score of seven, and widdle me is sat up here".

Then it was Hot Rods turn to pipe up, the caviler effortlessly moving into the line of sight and making a less than serious salute. She sighed again and smiled a little, despite the fact that they could not see her, they were hopeless, both of them.

Hopeless.

"This won't end well"

Arcee commented quietly before turning in her seat to address Kup more directly. Ultra Magnus was occupied with enough affairs, so she turned to the security chief instead.

"Sir..."

The pink tinted Fembot opted to use official formalities in public.

"...might I suggest I join the others downstairs, there's not much more I can contribute up here and...well...you do know who I'm talking about..."

Kup turned to look at Arcee when the pink femme had spoken up. Her suggestion to join Hot Rod and Springer was a good one. He nodded in agreement as he spoke to the young warrior. “Good idea, Arcee. Head down and meet up with those two and show them how a good Autobot does the job.” He then turned back to Howlstrike and addressed the former Predacon. “Make your way to the maintenance room and see if you can scrounge up as many replacement parts as you can. Once you’re back we’ll both have a look at the downed consoles.”

Iacon Headquarters: Command Centre

When Arcee had made the most fateful decision of her life, back during her earliest days, opting out of her training as a medic to instead become a soldier, the pink tinted Fembot had suddenly found herself faced with several goals, few of which initially seemed achievable. Respect was something she had been forced to earn, not only from herself, but from everyone around her. It had been hard, almost impossible in some quarters, but she had done it, she had proven that she deserved to be where she was.

The respect of some was, and still is, considered more valued than most.

Kup was one of those Bots.

“Yes Sir!”

Arcee saluted crisply following the comments of her old drill instructor, and first commander, ensuring that her station was in order before heading out. She wouldn’t let him down, she had made a promise, years ago, that she never would.

Almost from the moment that the femme left the infamous chambers, the heart and mind of the Autobot resistance, did the slim line femme transform. With a shifting of gears and turning of panels, her tires hit the ground and the engine was ignited, Arcee speeding down the halls to meet up with the terrible two not far from her position.

It wasn’t that they couldn’t handle things, they were both more than capable warriors, but they had a knack for finding trouble. Worst of all, they had a knack for making trouble bigger.

In review, she should probably find herself some more responsible friends.

>>Don’t wonder far boys…<<

Arcee opened the line to Hot Rod and Springer.

>>…I need to keep a closer eye on you two.<<

Autobot Headquarters – Corridors

Springer smirked as he deactivated the communicator. “Eleven what, piles of dust? There isn’t anything left in here worth fighting.” The triplechanger kicked a small pile of debris as he walked down the corridor. “I think the old mech might be pulling a prank over on us Hot Rod. Surely there is something more important to do in this base then hunting for vermin. You didn’t do anything to give Kup a blown gasket and now I’m getting punished along with you.” He gave the younger Autobot a glare before shifting into a smile and continuing to explore.

The Autobot warrior stopped at the entrance to the medical bay. That was probably a room that they should check out for…whatever it is they were looking out for, he still wasn’t too clear on that part. Still, a mission was a mission and he wasn’t about to blow it off just because he didn’t quite understand it. He quietly drew one of his swords before he stepped into the room, the door sliding open for him. The lights slowly flickered on and Springer caught a bit of movement out of the corner of his optic. He hurled his sword at the source of the movement. It struck its target with a brief electronic shriek and a few sparks.

Springer walked over to wear his sword had landed and frowned. He pulled it out of the floor and held it aloft. A cyber-rat hung impaled on the blade. He glanced over at Hot Rod. “I thought you were kidding when you said we were hunting vermin. Seriously, what did you do to get us this assignment?” A smile formed on his face as he received the signal from Arcee. “You must have done something. Now the old mech is sending Arcee to protoform-sit you.” He chuckled to himself.

>>”Oh we’ve already gotten into trouble Arcee. I just bravely slew one of those terrible beasts you were talking about. It just about deactivated me. Next time I’ll have to keep my optics open and just have one of my arms tied behind my back before I fight it.”<<

*

Iacon

Grimlock continued to steer the freight vehicle down the broken and occasionally debris filled roads of Iacon. In the back Slag and Snarl tried not to stumble and fall as the vehicle swung from side to side as Grimlock tried to dodge holes in the road. Up above Swoop flew escort, keeping his optics open for anything of interest, but finding little other than more wreckage.

The Dinobot leader had picked up Swoop on his way to the rendevouz point, the flier able to spot and reach him long before he got close to it. He’d met up with the other two Dinobots shortly after that. It didn’t particularly come as a surprise to any of them that Sludge was the last one to show up. He was slow and plodding by nature. In battle he was like a slow avalanche. Maybe you could outrun it for awhile, but it was relentless and practically unstoppable. Once it overtook you, it was all over.

Unfortunately right now they weren’t in combat and his slow speed was becoming a nuisance. Finally Grimlock spotted the last of his team approaching. He opened the hatch to the vehicle and waved Sludge on. “Come on Sludge. Me tired of walking and me think we do enough scouting of Iacon.” His visor flashed. “Me think it time to find something much more interesting to do. Something more our style.”

Autobot Headquarters – Command Center

Howlstrike turned and looked at his long time friend and comrade, the venerable Kup, when he told the Autobot hunter to find some replacement parts for the damaged computer terminals. “You got it, Kup. I’ll get right on it!” Howl was not one to waste time. The sooner they got the command center back to full operational status the better off they would all be. Howl looked back at Ultra Magnus, who was very busy with his own important tasks at hand, and gave a salute. The former Predacon then turned and exited the command center, making his way down to the maintenance room at the end of the corridor. Along the way, he grabbed a discarded hover cart, which he would need to carry the parts required.

Maintenance Room

Entering the room, Howlstrike was faced with a multitude of parts and accessories to choose from. He didn’t know what they all were for, but he did know what monitors and keyboards looked like and those were the main things that needed to be fixed. Howl began loading as many intact consoles and other spare computer parts he could find around the room, dusting them off as he went. The room was in slight disarray with some shelves having collapsed long ago. However, most of the equipment was in surprisingly good condition.

Once he was done filling the hover cart to capacity, Howl left the maintenance room and headed back down the corridor.

Command Center

The doors slid open and Howlstrike entered the command center, pushing the hover cart in front of him. He made his way over to where Kup was standing where he stopped to address his friend. “I got everything I could find, Kup. I mainly focused on consoles and monitors, but I also grabbed some other technical looking stuff just in case. Where should we start?”

*********

Iacon – Outside Autobot Headquarters

Sludge plodded along, making his way to the coordinates that Grimlock had previously transmitted to him. It was a long hike for the Jungle Warrior, who was slow and clumsy but still managed to be an asset to the team and get the job done when needed. He kept his optics and scanners on the surrounding area, so he would not be surprised again by another cyber-rat. His internal systems had already repaired the minimal damage that big vermin had done to his back, but it still ached a bit, reminding Sludge that he needed to pay attention and be more careful. Cybertron was no longer the place he remembered so long ago. It was very different now, and much more dangerous than before.

It was then that Sludge spotted the freight vehicle rumbling down the broken roadway with his leader at the helm. The vehicle pulled up and Grimlock opened the hatch, waving to the Jungle Warrior to come inside. Sludge nodded and climbed up into the freight vehicle. “Me, Sludge, also tired of walking. What you got in mind, bossbot?”

Autobot Command Center

"Nothing but rust and cyber rats."

Ultra Magnus said as he watched the flickering command screen. So far there had not been much for him to do, he was in command yes, but he had given out all the tasks he could and now all he was able to do was wait. He didn't like waiting in situations like this, it gave him time to think and reflect. Unfortunatly he couldn't help be look back upon his life, and to dwell upon his perceived failures. He was considered one of the best Autobot commanders, and yet he always managed to fail, at least in his optics.

"Seeing this place now makes my laser-core ache, Kup." He said turning to his old friend, and trusted adviser. "This command center was the hub of Autobot Command, it was our beating heart. And it was situated in the middle of the one city we held up as being the center of our society. But look at it all. Crumbling into nothing. Is this the fate that awaits out entire civilization? Can we rebuild after what this war has done to us?" Magnus shook his head. "It saddens me greatly to see what we have become. Before the war we were peaceful, and just. We were scholars, and engineers, all perusing our own intellectual agendas. War was merely a tale we told to the protoforms, stories of our great heroes in the past. But look what this war has wrought upon us all. Misery, destruction, chaos. Our once proud homeworld lies in ruins, the first victim of the many that this war has claimed as it sprawled across the galaxy... how many more will be reduced to cinders?"

The frown on Magnus' face seemed as if it were etched in stone. A small reflection of the inner pain he felt at seeing his old homeworld again. Iacon had been his home before the war, when he had sought a different path then that of a solider and general. It was a simpler time, when his talks with his brother Optimus were intellectual debates about a historical point, or an issue that had arisen in the Senate. He remembered those days fondly. Now it seemed they rarely had a chance to even talk to each other, unless it was to discuss battle strategy or to plan out some new campaign to root out the Decepticons in some corner of the galaxy that they have over run.

"However," Magnus began, the heavy tone of his voice changing, lightening somewhat, seeming to grow stronger. A wave of confidence spread over his face. "even looking at the decaying remains of our home I think I am drawing a sense of confidence from this place. It makes me want to over come the short falls that have befallen us of late. I want to see Cybertron rebuilt, restored to the paradise it once was." He looked back at Kup. "I think old friend that we can do this. I will not allow the Decepticons to stake their claim here again. I will see the Autobot banner raised over our cities once more, and from here we will go forth to drive them back. Earth will be the first step." He said slamming his clenched fist into his open palm. "I will see the humans freed of the threat of the Decepticons. I do not know the humans as some of our comrades on Earth do. But I do know that they are living beings, just as we are. Sure they are small, and soft compared to us. But they have no less right to exist and find their way then we do. I have grown tired of the genocides the Decepticons have brought down upon the galaxy, and if it is the very thing that will see my spark extinguished forever, I will see that the evil that Megatron has risen upon all life is snuffed out forever."

Magnus sighed heavily after his exposit to Kup and then smiled at the old mech.

"Sorry about that. I just felt I had some things to get off my chest. Seeing Cybertron again, and in this state has roused something deep inside of me. I feel... stronger, more determined now. Somehow, I feel confident we will succeed here. Shockwave, what ever he is planning, what ever doom he is going to set loose on whatever world, I will not allow it."

Before anyone could say another word the silently working Wheeljack sprang up from his chair.

"Magnus! Kup! I got the main command data feed working again!" The engineer was very excited. "Not a lot of our satellites and listening posts are still operational, but I got enough going to give me a partial feed from all over the planet. Looks like most of the planet is much like Iacon, in ruins. But from what I can tell the atmosphere is starting to recover. It is patchy to say the least, there are still large swaths of the planet still uninhabitable, but that will change. Radiation levels are lowering to safe levels everywhere. I would say Cybertron could sustain a full planetary population with in two or three vorns."

Magnus nodded. Thins indeed were looking up. He then keyed open his com. unit, so all of his units on planet could hear him.

"Autobots, this is Ultra Magnus. I want a status report from all of you as soon as possible."

Weapon: Energo-Sword
Autobot Command Center

Kup listened silently as Ultra Magnus pontificated on the state of Cybertron and their race as a whole. The old timer was a little worried that he was going to have to pull Magnus out of one of his patented funks until the Autobot did it himself. Sometimes it was easy for him to forget how much some of these young Autobots had matured. Young? Slag, Magnus was probably older now than he was when the war started. Where did the time go?

We won’t allow it lad,” Kup replied, putting an emphasis on the first word. “We’re all here to start fixing up the planet, don’t think you have to carry the whole thing on your shoulders.” The old warhorse glanced around the room. “We’ll have this place running like clock work in no time. Not that we need it mind you. Remind me to tell you about the time I commanded a squad of Autobots against a Decepticon division armed with nothing but some sharpened metal rods and energo-knives. After that having even a partially working base is like a vacation.”

Before the Autobot warrior could say anything else he was interrupted by the news from Wheeljack and the return of Howlstrike. He smiled at the news from both of them. “Alright, now things are coming together.” He looked over at Howlstrike. “Neither of us is a tech wizard lad, so we’ll just stick with the basic stuff. I’ve learned enough over time to replace some monitors, patch up some cables, basic repair work. I’ll show you what little I know, but Wheeljack there can handle the more complicated stuff.”

Kup walked over to the nearest non functioning monitor. “We’ll start with the monitors. Pull them out to see if the connections are still working and if they aren’t we do a patch job on them. If they are then we just go ahead and replace the whole thing.” He scooped up a power wrench from the cart of odds and ends the young Autobot had gathered and went to work removing the panel around the monitor.

As the Autobots went to work Ultra Magnus received a signal from Springer, >>”We’ve cleared out the Medbay. I’m thinking we should clear out important areas first and work out from there. Any suggestions as to where we should head to next?”<<

Iacon – Outside Autobot Headquarters

Grimlock would have smiled back at the other Dinobot if he had a mouth. Instead he simply jumped back into the driver’s seat. He could always count on Sludge. Sure, you had to take into account how slow he was, both physically and mentally, and sometimes he needed to be carefully guided in the right direction, but he rarely questioned that direction. He was the one member of his team he could always rely on.

The Dinobot jumped back into the driver’s seat and sent the vehicle speeding off. “Well Sludge, we sent here to deal with Decepticons, even Magnus know that. Me thinking we need to be more proactive. Best way to keep Cons away from Bot base is to hit them in their base. Best defense is good offense. So, me thinking if Cons back on Cybertron they either go to Kaon, on other side of planet, or Polyhex. With Shockwave back, maybe they go to Polyhex, his old tower. Maybe he tell them he has something valuable there. Me hoping that the case at least. We have score to settle with them, and me not feel like driving us all the way across planet to fight in Kaon.”

Autobots: Corridors

"Oh haha Springer..."

Arcee commented without the need for a secure channel as she turned the final corner to reach their position, her voice emerging from the dashboard of her veichal form. For a moment there was a skidding and a screeching of tires, a drastic stop and small spin as the pink tinted femme activated the command to transform. With a rapid shifting of gears and sliding of panels, the Fembot fluidly converted from one form into another, standing before both Hot Rod and Springer with a hand upon her hip.

"...and for the record, the ones that ambushed us were bigger..."

Arcee added, pausing for a moment before feeling the need to clarify.

"...and I'm still ahead seven to one on the homecoming score..."

Not that she was being competitive...much, that was more the domain of the terrible two that frequently needed to be watched. No, she wasn't being competitive, she hadn't felt the need to prove herself in years.

...Much.

"Not that it matters anyway...but if it did, I get bonus points for..."

Suddenly she was cut off, a transmission from Ultra Magnus echoing across each of their private channels. Dutifully, she made her reply.

>>"I have rendezvoused with the clearance team and...sir..."<<

Arcee was unsure at first, but decided to take the chance, how often was she going to get a one on one with Ultra Magnus, or, at least, a close approximation of it? She reached into a small compartment attached to her hip, pulling out a folded package of fabric, unfolding it so that both Hot Rod and Springer could see.

She had found it a few rooms back, kept in storage so that the Cyber Rats could not ruin it. It was old, Arcee knew that, possibly even older than herself, but the unfolded flag that embezzled the symbol of the Auto bots was no less glorious today as it had been on the day it had been woven.

It was something that was missing, something that no longer flew above the ramparts of Iacon for all to see. Arcee was keen to fix the oversight.

>>"...I have discovered one of our banners, from before we evacuated...permission to raise it on the tower sir?"<<
