We've known for at least a month, if not more, that Megatron will be joining the Lost Light.

I don't care much for iDW's newer stuff, but I actually like the design of this Rodimus. I might start reading MTMTE. Hopefully he wasn't made out to be a total douche. Is the Lost Light in MTMTE or RiD?

Even though Regen didn't meet a lot of my expectations, I will still be sorry to see it end.

It's MTMTE you want for the Lost Light crew.

Why do I feel like it's Tailgate that's going to tell Megs (ok.....cover may have made it a bit obvious to me in a way), yet Megs is going to give Tailgate more respect for being the one who was straight up, instead of "too scared" to face Megs himself?

Assuming those covers are indicative of the designs for the rumored leader Optimus and Megatron toys... well, money saved I guess

I have to. But who is this "we" you speak if. That is a huge spoiler. If you are avoiding them, you don't look for them. But it makes it awful hard when you make it front page... Other Transformer fan pages have the common sense to put the spoiler material in the post. Not fly it around as the main picture of the post.

Can't say I dig megatrons look too much, its a bit regular and not tyrant looking enough. But then I didn't like his bomber concept art until I saw it in action in the actual comics. They def gota drop the pistol deco on his chest, looks out of place unless he still turns into a gun. Also, I didn't know he was joining the lost light.

The cover does seem to indicate that it's Tailgate but I would have bet money that it would have been either Whirl or Swerve since neither of those two seem to have the good sense to know when to shut up.
Although it does seem to make a certain sense that it's Tailgate. I mean, he had the stones to push Cyclonus when it was obvious (to everyone else at least) that he just wanted to be left alone but we all saw the end result of Tailgate's insistence. He wound up with quite possibly the most bad-ass "partner" out of the entire Lost Light crew, winning Cyclonus' respect and loyalty. A fat stack of energon cubes says he wins Megatron over the same way.

i'd love to see tailgate get megs under his thumb. looking forward to any kind of THEY HATE ME MORE showdown between whirl and megs though.

(And to be fair, I had no idea that was going to be the spoiler, I was thinking more of the solicitation descriptions than any of the images. I do apologise if any of you felt I robbed them of a surprise though. )

Going by IDW's tradition of changing design to fit Hasbro's toys (or even shoehorning in ugly fan characters 'we' apparently came up with), these are probably the leader Megatron and Optimus designs that were on that list of generations figures from a while back.

Shame they changed big OP's design, I'm not really digging all the changes that have been done to make him look more G1, though it's really not so big of a departure that I'd outright pass on it like my brother would.

Honestly, after having gone through a whole bunch of copies of the original Classics Prime, repeated transformations really started to show just how brittle he is. A robo that's brittle is a pet peeve for me, it's why I've passed up on a number of cool figures just because they made stupid design mistakes, like using translucent plastic on joints. I mean yeah, of course they're mainly meant for display at this point in my life, but if I can't fiddle with them on my desk from time to time there's no point in them being anything other than statues... Also I have uneven floors, so if a toy can't withstand being tumbled onto the floor once in a while, it's pretty much screwed.

Edit: What if they actually try to market the new Megatron as an Autobot toy?

Who's to say they aren't doing that already? Plus Hasbro said that leader class decepticons don't sell very well. Especially Megatron.
Solution: Make Megatron an Autobot. Course, they could always give him the insignia switching feature Universe Dinobot used so he could be either or depending on the owner's preference.

I would not like to have to make that kind of judgement call until I see it in plastic, once again ASSUMING the cover art here is indeed indicative of the rumored leader Optimus. Even so, with as much as characters like Prime, Megs, Bee, and Screamer get put out in toy form every damn year, can one not afford to be picky about what one wishes for out of them?
