Do you have proof otherwise? That's what each group tends to work on so of course they'll be typecast as such.
ILM does a ton
of organic stuff. Far more than WETA probably, although WETA has only been around since '87 and their digital offshoot since '93. I'm sure WETA will add more robots to their credits in time but you have to remember WETA has only been a major player in the film industry since the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Before that they were pretty much relegated to syndicated television.
Examples of ILM's organic work:
-all Star wars films
-Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3
-The Chronicles of Narnia
-Fire In the Sky
-The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
-Harry Potter films
-Jurassic Park 1-3
-The Mummy, The Mummy Returns
-The Mask, Son of the Mask
-Men in Black 1 and 2
