Impactor - 'CHUG' Style

Hi all, ever since Impactor lost half of his head during the epic TARGET:2006 I have been eagerly anticipating a figure of him. After waiting over 20 years I got bored, and was about to call it quits until it was announced that Impactor would get a figure for the first time as part of the Fall of Cybertron range. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the figure so I decided to make my own. The base figure is Universe Tankor (the other one) and I airbrushed the green and red areas purple. I also shortened the cannon barrel a little and finally donated the head of a spare Ironhide I had. And, lo, Impactor was born. I toyed with replacing the claws with fists but there was no real way I could see to do it, plus the claws are needed to shore up the alt mode. So I thought that, as he is renowned for having a harpoon hand, I could imagine him having other hand configurations. These are his 'brawler' hands!

Is your one second hand? I have seen quite a few without them, they are very brittle clear plastic parts. I had to repair and reinforce mine, because they split when I pulled them off the balljoints. They can be aligned to sit alongside the shoulders or in front of them.

I actually just bought one on eBay I haven't received him yet but looking at the pictures when he's in robot mode he doesn't have anything on his shoulders

Ahh, it sounds like you might want to complain if you've been told he's 100% complete. The panels could still be there but oriented differently so they are harder to see. They are originally clear and red plastic so may not show up so well. If they are not there, you should see exposed 'stalks' on the shoulders. Can you grab the photo and post it here?

Fantastic!! May attempt this myself. Would you feel okay divulging the colors and brand of paints you used for the purple/yellow?

Thanks if so! :-?

They are games workshop paints - I mixed and colour-matched the yellow myself using yellow/red/black/white. The Purple has some funny name, I will have to dig the paints out bu tin the process of having a spring clean at the moment. I mixed both with about 1 fifth Tamiya thinner so I could use my airbrush.

regarding paint removal on this guy, don't even bother trying alcohol on it because it don't work. I use rubbing alcohol and it works a treat on all TFs I have tried it with, apart from this one!

Sincere thanks for the tips! I've had oddly mixed results using alcohol myself. Weird.

Anybody have a good place online to buy Games Workshop / Tamaya paints? I'm in Arkansas, which sadly has no decent hobby stores.

Also curious about Gundam markers, which I've never used. But I digress.

Again, thanks for the input and help. Impactor looks AMAZING. Way better than the official toy or any other attempt at him I've seen.

Cheers pal. Games workshop has an online presence in the US - use the link below to order stuff.

A word of caution regarding the headswap - If you want to keep the 'collar' then you need a long 'neck' - I gouged up into Tankor's head to make the neck longer, because Ironhide's head is recessed.
