Improvements for Transformers 4

Michael Bay has been confirmed to direct Transformers 4. The first three were decidedly flawed. Here are some of the improvements I'd like to see made in the fourth instalment.

-Don't make the robots look so complex and mechanical. Giving the robots a simpler look will make the robots more visually appealing, the action sequences will be easier to follow, and it will cost less per frame to animate the robots; meaning that the robots could have substantially more screen time.

-Make the story about the robots. The thing which has upset me the most about the first three films is that they were essentially about the humans who were running around screaming while the robots fought. A transformers film should be about the conflict between the transformers, and not about Shia Labeouf's love life. Transformers: Prime has demonstrated that it is possible to inject a human element into Transformers fiction without allowing it to overpower the story of the robots.

-Give the robots discernible personalities. Transformers has arguably been such an enduring franchise because people liked the characters. Optimus is noble and brave. Prowl is logical and efficient. Starscream is ambitious and treacherous. Soundwave is unwaveringly loyal. Ironhide is headstrong and tough. People have enjoyed the Transformers media over such a long period of time because the robots, in all of their incarnations, had these clearly defined characteristics which made them more interesting. The personalities of the robots were not terribly well conveyed in the films; the robots simply fought each other while the humans ran around screaming. Take Shockwave as an example. In the G1 cartoon Shockwave was a brilliant and ruthless tactician who was loyal to Cybertron. In the films, Shockwave simply made gurgling noises as he wandered around in search of enemies. Another example is Starscream; whose desire to overthrow Megatron has not yet been conveyed in the live actions films. Giving the robots clear and distinguishable personalities would make the film a lot more interesting and would improve the story enormously.

While this is what I would like to see, it probably won't happen. Michael Bay's formula for Transformers has proven to be commercially successful, so I doubt that anything will change in Transformers 4. Nevertheless, one can always dream. What would you like to see in Transformers 4? Post your thoughts below.

I'd like everyone who had any involvement with the first three movies to be fired and banned from ever working in Hollywood again.

Then, I'd have Joss Whedon, Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Ronald D. Moore, and J. Michael Straczynski each write a script. I'd pick the best one, add the best parts from the other 3, and hand it to Peter Jackson. Daft Punk would do the soundtrack and the special effects would be handled by the same team that did Firefly and BSG.

Presto.

Never actually thought about this but I really like the idea.

Nail on the head

Less drones as well. The 2007 movie was cooler without the use of a faceless 1000 man decepticon army

It was not. All the Decepticons got killed off in 10 minutes. More Decepticons = more of a threat. TF Prime does the same thing.

One improvement of mine: More explosions.

Your angry fanboy is showing. You should cover that up, or take meds for it.

Not who I'd chose, but new script writers are a good idea.

Bays style of directing is just fine for the movies, it's the writing that needs fixing. Jackson would be terrible for a movie of this type.

Daft Punk would do the soundtrack and the special effects would be handled by the same team that did Firefly and BSG.

God no. The scores and the effects are the two things the majority agrees were good about the films. Why would you change that?

Of course you hate everything about the films to the point that you can't be taken seriously.

wow... just wow. So the costumers, make-up people, lighting personell, audio technicians, producers, cable guys, stunt men, pyrotechnicians etc weren't doing their job good enough for you? I know you hate the films with a passion, but you and I both know its problems are solely at the storyline and look of the film. Keep the hundreds of hard working people out of this.

The general prediction at this time is that we're going to see a near future setting post Dark of the Moon, much like G1 post animated film.

I thought TF4 was going to be a reboot, as if the last 3 movies didn't exist. I'm getting really confused now.

Michael Bay confirmed a few months back that TF4 wasn't gonna be a reboot. You could probaly find information in the forum without much scrolling back.

-The robots should give away from the mechanical look, and look more fluent and high tech. All I see in a robot mode is grey and a splash of color.

-Less humans, more bots. I don't care if I sound like a fanboy but it's called The Transformers, not The humans.

-Bring back the decepticons. Michael Bay made Optimus kill them all, why! Now we can't have a proper sequel.

-UNICRON BABY

-Bring back classics to appeal to those annoying fanboys, but don't add rodimus, no one likes him but me.. :-(

-finally, don't make the humans have a big role, Sam's allspark issues made him the star of the show, at least sari was a robot at the end of the season.

Thanks for taking the time to read these suggestions.

Prime having a "what's my motivation" skit with Bay, or maybe the outtakes making a few pot shots at the films haters. That would be worth the price of admission.

Have moar explosions. And more sword fights too. The forest fight in ROTF was hype because of that. Optimus vs Sentinel in DOTM was close, but too short.

Exactly! I just feel this is a really missed area they could run with.

07 movie
Ever see America’s most wanted when one person talking is all blacked out and voice changed to “protect the innocent” This would be hilarious to have Starscream talking about Megs death and a new leader needed.

ROTF movie

with Skids and Mudflap when they came apart chasing sideways.... Could have had a couple outtakes there.

Wheelie…… come on…. This one could almost have an entire 30 min dedicated to him.

…. Soundwave could have called the wrong number first instead of Sams mother.

Optimus death scene could have had megs and starscream standing around like now what? This has never happened before….. weve never thought this far ahead?

DOTM

Some over drama over acting by Ironhide and his death scene.

Prime hanging by the wires waiting on the wreckers…. He could have been playing fruit ninja while he was waiting or something…..

Okay someone make a stop motion video of all of these things. I think this would be REALLY funny to see.

I hope the writers of Transformers 4 just do a good story, as with it comes good characters both Human and Mechanical. Bay gets alot of flak, however it's the writers who should be on the firing line.

Love the idea of Robot Out-takes as that's where all the goofy humour could go.

My Wishlist for Transformers 4
*No more Ancillary characters
*Redesigns as mentioned earlier (will cut down on studio costs meaning more robot screentime)& more robot character development.
*Good comedy where needed within the story - less is more.
* I'd love too see some more Alt Mode battles, for eg:- an aerial dog fight between aerialbots and seekers
*Make it so humans can't kill Transformers. The Decepticons are like cannon fodder when there supposed to be baddest army in the universe. I would like to see them more of a threat, making the Autobots fear them, giving the films a more sense of danger.

I just hope they make this more of a Transformers film 4th time around.
