You know, the whole thing looks a lot better if you mistransform Blastoff so that the linkage is centered in his torso (his head peeks up a bit, but it's worth it), and put Onslaught, Blastoff, and Vortex's guns on Bruticus's back. Swindle & Brawls' guns make a fine rifle by themselves.

Wait, does the Takara Onslaught have a Matte paint instead of Metallic? That would look really good with the rest of the SDCC components...

I'm digging the molds (Blast Off's giganto-arm doesn't faze me anymore, since I found a way to extend Vortex a little bit more to be on par) and the colors, but since I already have the retail versions, there is no need to get this. Now if they do a Generation 1 deco... I'm automatically sold.

Mental note... Buy a Vortex to repaint in actual G1 colors, since Hasbro and Takara have struck out FIVE times in a row. (counting the upcoming Whirl version.)

That said, the rest of the gang look pretty good. Onslaught with the green details looks nice, and the glow effects on the wheels looks best on this set over all the USA versions.

My instruction sheet didn't have Vortex pictured with Whirl's head.

Yes.

And yeah, seriously. Who makes the decisions in the chain of command to color the majority of the characters like OATMEAL. Stick with the G1 colors. Grahhhhh. Agreed on the punch-in-tha-face.

I gave this figure 2 tries already (G2 and Hasbro versions) and I sure as hell am not going to think 3 times will be the charm.

Give or take, all of them are a G1 deco except for Vortex. Ive been calling for a grey and blue Vortex for awhile, but these damn video game fanatics seem to like him colored like vomit mixed with period blood.

Screw the game. judging from the G1 based colors of the rest of the team, I honestly think Activision coloring team was delivered the wrong artwork. Energon Stormcloud maybe ?

The regular retail figures use the Energon colors for the most part.

Now FoC Vortex... I think we can blame his colors on one of two culprits:
