I'd also wager that the myriad bright crayon colors targets a younger audience... whereas Takara is aimed at a slightly older collector audience. :-?

This thing looks like crap. Better color scheme can't hide the fact that the arm looks jacked up and doesn't change the fact that the combined robot mode is less than impressive. I had these PCC molds when they were released years ago, and the arms and legs would all fall off at the lightest touch. Definitely not worthy of the number of repaints that they seem to be getting.

Ooops, sorry about that. I'm just so used to hating Hasbro, that I automatically think any bad idea is theirs. x3 And I know all about the difference in cultures looking weird, I'm an Anime fan. ;3 It's just the toy itself that bugs me, I like the color scheme just not the toy.

And yeah, I know, it's easier for computers to do multiple things at once (that's the theory anyway, in practice it doesn't always work like that xP), but minds are hard to split like that. I know their minds work differently, but still the input from four other sources would be a little confusing; especially in the middle of a battle. Now, if they were on the sidelines simply directing the drones, then it'd different. But they're in the middle of battle doing this. Idk, I just don't like the toy. x3

If these would be priced at regular PCC prices, I'd hit it.

Really? Seriously?? So we're trying to pull in the little girls, now? What's next, they all settle their differences over a tea party?
It's blind, nonsensical remarks like this that really get under my skin. :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD:

Did you even read Hydra's comments? It would be completely wrong for the Tenth Drone to NOT have some rainbow-themed attack.

Uniform colors are cool, though I always liked how individualized colors made it instantly obvious combiners are made up of multiple units.

I do kinda wish Takara made up "new" combinations instead of reusing the same ones Hasbro did, just in different colors. Ah well, not that I was going to import them anyways...

Read who's comments? Who's Hydra, and where are the comments I'm supposed to have read? O.o And it makes absolutely no sense to me why it would be firing a rainbow-colored beam. Then I realized that this is Japanese, and it suddenly doesn't bother me anymore. I read that as coming from Hasbro, and my hatred for them momentarily blocked out the fact that this is from Takara. I'm used to Japanese stuff being weird, so it doesn't bother me coming from them.

The story of the Power Core Combiners will be continued on the back of each package, focusing on that character's/characters' interaction with the plot.

As can be seen, there are a number of references back to the G1 cartoon shows, both US and Japanese. Perhaps easiest for US fans to pick out is the return of the Autobots' human ally, Chip Chase! Now a professor, it seems that Chip has graduated from tearing up computer disks with his bare hands and moved onto creating massively powerful armaments for the Autobots.

Jetmaster originally comes from the planet Zone (which was once known as the planet Micro, before extensive defense systems bulked up the planet's surface), the home planet of the Micromasters in the Transformers: Zone anime. As an extension of this, the limb drone names are also taken from Zone; there's Zone Drone and Micro Drone which have already been explained. Then there's Feminia Drone. Feminia first appeared in The Story of Super Robot Life Forms manga, then again appeared in Transformers: Headmaster cartoon. However in Zone, Feminia became a battleground between Violen Jiger's Generals and the Autobots, as the heroes tried to stop the Decepticons from finding the Zodiac Energy source. The Tenth Drone takes its name from the Tenth Planet, a planet in the Milky Way undiscovered until Zone. It was the birthplace of Violen Jiger, where the souls of many deceased Decepticons merged together to form an immense evil. Later with the Zodiac Power, the Autobots defeated Violen Jiger with their "Rainbow Powered Attack" and transformed the Tenth Planet into a paradise. Which would be why the Tenth Drone has a rainbow-colored attack.

So then just who is Jetmaster? A blue and gold expert spy from the Planet Zone, and a story title like "The Mighty Bolt", would have one thinking that he just might be Tread Bolt from the Micromaster Sky Patrol Team.

In case anyone wonders, the Tenth Drone having a rainbow-themed attack is a reference to the final chapter of Zone. When the Powered Masters destroyed Violen Jiger with the Zodaic-powered "Rainbow Powered Attack", said rainbow transformed the Tenth Planet into a paradise.

Obscure, but that's what we all love.

No, I didn't read that, or I wouldn't have posted what I did. I haven't slept yet, so I didn't bother clicking that link just to go through I don't know how many posts, all for the sake of finding out every single detail about a toy I don't like.

Was it explained in that article? Yes. Did you need to be snippy about it? No. You could've just told me to click the second link, and it gets explained there.

Hahahaha..

I don't understand how some can get so animated about lore.

Either way, these figures look rather nice - and much better than the Combaticons, however the price is still ludicrous.

According to Hydra, the story of United EX takes place concurrently with Operation Combination. 8)

I had a feeling about that, since battles with "Novabots" was mentioned (albeit simulated). That instantly reminded me of Dark Nova and his Novaroids.

That was the intention, what with their similar design and all. ;)

So in a sense, the Micromaster Six-Combiners and the Japanese Power Core ones can be considered the results of the same type of research? Tread Bolt and Jet Master seem to be linked.

I wouldn't say that, since the Six-Combiners were originally born from their Seiberdroid forms in the early 1980s. And even then, Sixliner was around before this story in the Return of Convoy fiction.

Jetmaster is Tread Bolt. ;)

If that's the case, can we expect most, if not all Commanders to be Micromaster characters?

They will be pre-existing characters, yes. But, well, Hydra put best:
All of the characters appearing are based on pre-existing characters, but not all of them necessarily come from the G1 cartoon. Not all have been given toys before, either.
