Dammit! Between that and the fact that he looks pretty awesome even without any stickers applied I'm having a real hard time not pre-ordering him now.

Yep, definatly getting Grimlock. Now I'm wondering if Takara is gonna give him game-accurate colors since Hasbro is having trouble handling that with the FoC line.

But Grimlock is lacking some red! He's too yellow/gold to me. It looks as though I'm gonna have to take up a repainting lesson just to give Grimlock that red waist he needs and some blacker theighs and hands.

Well IMO Grimlock is not bad looking. I'd guess those that are disapointed with the current representation of this Dinobot would rather have a animated version or a classics version over this...?

It could have been much worse though I can't imagine how. Someone did mention a G2 homage would look alright I think. But as usual I'm curious what Takara's will look like and if it will out-shine Hasbro's. :-? :VEHI:

I just cant believe people want a voyager Grimlock so badly they are blind by the ugliness of this figure. The robot mode looks like animated Grimlock with a classics style head. And the dino mode looks deformed, kind of like a retard Barney with a skinny body, fat head and fat tail. I know some people are going to disagree with me, but this figure is not that cool. Blaster on the other hand is really awesome. Maybe a 3rd party add on kit can save Grimlock by giving his dino mode.

Me Grimlock awesome!.

He's Game accurate, and he's a Voyager. What more do you want?

He's bound to share similarities with animated Grimlock since they are both based on the same character will have certain identifying features that are the same or very similar. He looks awesome and bad-ass as he should.

Totally a buy.

And for the record I really like animated Grimlock. He was one of the better molds in that line.
So the fact he looks like him is a good thing.

We're aware of it's flaws; we're not stupid.

Because his toy's robot mode looks nothing like the game. Nothing. At all. Nope. Totally different.

No argument about the tail, but what's wrong with his head?

His chest/dinosaur head glows.

:michaelbay:

Man, he just towers over FOC Optimus!

With that said, can't wait for Grimlock and Blaster to hit shelves. Fantastic additions to my classics shelf!

If anything, FoC Grimlock is by and FAR the best Classics Grimlock we've gotten so far. It SHAMES the actual Classics mold by ACTUALLY looking like Grimlock should (obviously MP Grimlock is in a class of his own, being amazing in all respects). Truly, aside from the tail, I fail to understand how people are having issues with this beyond those who have to bitch for bitching's sake.

But come on people, it's a transforming toy, you have to make a concession somewhere! Would you rather have FoC Grimlock have stupidly skinny legs? Aside from the tail (and the gaping hole in the chest, but you'll never notice that while he's posed on your shelf and you know it), the beast mode is spot on, and the robot mode is literally perfect. Maybe it could use a little panel lining here and there, but there are a ton of really nice paint apps already! His torso is spot-on and that LED gimmick is glorious!

This. This so much.

If there is truly a problem to me, it's because it looks top heavy with no heels. And we all know what happened with the first MP Starscream...

I really don't care about the voyager soundwave mold.
I wish there was a deluxe soundwave to be in scale with optimus.

Is there any news on a megatron?

Breaking news! There were Deluxe Soundwaves and Megatrons in the original WFC line back in 2010! :KREMZEEK:

And considering you didn't know about them, I'm assuming didn't know about these fellas either:

That's because FoC is a cheaper, smaller, crappier set of figures. Very few of them are actually worth it. If you want a Deluxe Soundwave or Megatron, WFC is your only option. If you have a probelm with FoC Optimus' scale, get the WFC Optimus.

P.S: You triple-posted.

There -is- a Kabaya version of War for Cybertron Optimus in the latest wave. :) I ordered it (and the other two kits in series 5) for myself just yesterday! They look interesting enough and I've been wanting to get a few of these Kabaya kits in hand for awhile now. Got them from a fairly new store, Captured Prey. Their stock isn't huge, but it's priced really well! I guess I'll have a full opinion of them when I get the package, but I'm impressed so far.

Yep he looks nothing like the game in robot mode. The game image is nice and stocky and the toy has a slender waist and legs closer to the animated version. Plus the exposed shoulder joints look annoying to me. They could of hid them better and made the arms closer to the gold part of the torso. Alot of people like me dont really care about the WFC/FOC continuity and use these figures as stand ins for a classics collection. Thats why the shared aesthetics with animated Grimlock turn me off so much. As far as the Dino head, its too big for the neck so it looks goofy to me. I wonder if he could same me hundreds of dollars in car insurance...

They got every last detail on the robot mode right. The problem is his proportions, namely the shoulders and legs. If he looked "nothing like his in-game robot mode" then he'd be a Starscream repaint. >:oP

I can deal with having somewhat skinny legs because his tail is already fat as hell. If his legs were any bigger, the tail would be twice the size of the rest of the figure in T-rex mode. And honestly, this works just fine as a classics Grimlock. It has Grimlock's build, his colors, that perfect head, it has the timeless Grimlock transformation, and it's BIG. It turns into a more modernized robot T-Rex with a light-up gimmick in his mouth that you can pretend is him blowing fire. I haven't seen very many people here besides you, Rated X, who say they only care about classics-style figs, and even then, Hasbro's target with this figure is squarely kids. He's the most likely of any of the FOC Generations figures for kids to want, because he is a freaking robot t-rex. You don't have to play the games to appreciate that. That screams "cool" to pretty much any boy over the age of 4. So the goal with this figure isn't to appeal to the lucrative adult collector market as much as the Classics and first Generations line were, and thus the ideal of a Classics-style aesthetic isn't the priority. I'm sorry you don't like it, but I think you're being entirely too hard on it. If this figure doesn't fill your Classics Grimlock needs, get a Masterpiece.

From the images that Sabrblade reposted, it looks as though the accessories can peg onto his legs in dino mode, but not under his chest as people would like.

Hm. More food for thought.
