Internet Longevity

It amazes me at just how long i've been an avid internet surfer and forum poster. I've had my share of bumps and from it and today i was poking around looking to see what a google search of my handle would produce when i found this gem: http://www.network54.com/Forum/47155/thread/987429988/last-1001115448/what+happens+when+you+swallow+a+space+marine-.....read+on..

I ended up putting together and fully painting a 3000pt Slaneesh Chaos Space Marine army, but sadly, i had to sell it and all my original space marines to pay an electric bill 7 years ago. I did keep the aforementioned space marine tho. Hes all glued up, painted up, and finished sitting in a the back room of my apartment. lol

I started using the net in 1998, and it's been a very enjoyable ride, but I don't do much online anymore. Most of my internet time is spent poking around on these forums, because they're the only place where I've ever felt the community is worth my time. You guys are all awesome, it's true. (Frustrating and a little silly too, but I like it like that. ;p)

Sometimes I marvel at the fact I'm still around at all considering the enormous number of times I've embarrassed myself online, because I struggle to keep my emotions in check. It's especially bad when I'm excited... I look back at some of my rather enthusiastic rantings and wonder how on earth I manage to get so giddy.

Things aren't so bad these days though, I'd like to think I've matured and learned to conduct myself a lot better than I once did. I still see myself lapsing on occasion though.

I started on a local BBS in 93 (played majormudd a lot), I started using the net sometime around 94 (mom in law had the net).. I started on a forum type of "area report" toy reporting board in 97..

Yeah, i hear ya there. I do the same. I get into a debate with someone and i just can't let things go. And its usually over personal opinions, which you just can't change that in people. I think i've been kicked/banned from 4 websites over the years from arguing with people. And of course, over the dumbest sh_t possible too.

But the newer generations of kids coming out and getting on the net now a days put anything i've ever done to shame, so i don't feel so bad. lol
