Not to mention that generalizations are a bad idea, X. I certainly liked her, both as a character and as a toy. Which means that your statement is a faulty generalization. And the fact that Iron Factory is putting this out must mean that, logically, some people must want her. So, back to shajaki's question, eh? O_o

Well I know Windblade has garnered some love from the fandom. But I know I'm not the first on these boards to dislike the geisha head. I think it was just going too far. Did she really have to look like a geisha just because the fans chose a sword over a gun ? I could see the same artists drawing a transformer with a George Washington wig based on the fact he is a faction leader. It would be on the same level of silliness as the geisha head.

Is there anyone on these boards who DOESNT comment on products they have no intention of buying ?

It seems to be a tradition around here. I'm not the first and I wont be the last...

That is true. However, some of us tend to comment on dislike of products without belittling the people who actually like the products. Some actually avoid commenting in every thread about every product. Personally, I like constructive comments that point out flaws so that I can decide if a 3P product is worth it, especially at these prices. I also like to see positive comments people have made, and sometimes they help nudge me in a direction as well, especially depending on who is making those comments.

Not everything on the Internet needs to be hyperbole...

All that said, I agree with the initial comments about this being adorable. I also agree with the *ahem* "large... ...tracks of land" comments too, which is a bit hard to rectify in my mind... I'm still very much interested in getting this.

Hey I never started calling out names of anybody who likes the character. The only actual name I called out was windblade. What we got here is a pink prototype with no final pricing. Theres nothing here thats really gonna help those on the fence make a decision yet. Im not the devil because I came on a windblade thread and expressed the reason why I hate the character. We saw plenty of that on the hasbro threads and nobody got crucified. I think we can all agree that the concept of the character herself is very niche. Windblade is like jar jar binks. You either love her or hate her. She is way too bizarre to generate "meh" comments.

X, I think my point was missed. But, it is obvious that continuing this discussion only serves two negative points: 1) continuing off-topic discussions about a personality aspect that does not appear will ever change, and 2) detracting from the discussion topic at hand.

Speaking of which, indeed, the price of this figure will ultimately determine my interest. But, overall, I like the character, particularly as she was written into the recent comics. I like the concept of an avatar or speaker for Metroplex. I like her overall design in all three renditions, comic, deluxe, and this Iron Factory offering. I can understand the dislike for her head design (though I think Saberblade has pretty much put to rest that this is not actually a geisha head), but really, there have been worse head designs. It is what it is, and it doesn't bother me.

In all seriousness though, comparing Windblade to Jar-Jar is ridiculous. The Kabuki head takes getting used to, but it's not like it's outright badly designed or poorly sculpted. And to the best of my knowledge, almost everyone who actually reads the comic loves her character.

In any case, posting on a thread about a product you liked the sound of but didn't like the actual product is one thing (so say I saw a thread on 3P Seacons, saw the pics and was disappointed, that would be reasonable). But when the thread is about a character you don't like at a scale you don't like and generally has no interest to you in concept or execution, you have no reason to post there, and just posting "hurr this character sucks and this scale sucks lolololol" is utterly pointless. It's nothing more than flamebaiting.

I missed that conclusion. What does he think it is ? Even if Saberblade somehow managed to prove the face paint isn't geisha inspired, the comb in her hair would pretty much shoot down his argument. (not to mention the hair itself)

But I do agree with you that there has been worse. I put this guy on the same level as Windblade. They should be a couple.

The hairdo is fairly common in ancient Japan is definitely not exclusive to geishas only. And while I can't find a link, but i remember the artists themselves had confirmed that WB's face is based of Kabuki-style and not the common geisha. Just FYI

i wonder if theyll be able to get all her finer points (in the face) painted properly, being such a small figure.

Over at TFW, Some forum members. Seem to think Hasbro's inspiration for the Windblade character design, colors, face and hair came from, Nijika. I've also always thought so.

It seems very possible. Although I would prefer Hasbro/Funpub to stop turning G1 era human characters into robots like Serpent O.R.

There's really nothing in common between the two. I think they just have the same inspirational source.

Not that I've seen the episode she was from, but isn't Nijika a robot anyway?

Honestly I think one of the problems with Deluxe Windblade's headsculpt isn't the design itself, it's the execution. I feel the sculptors made her look much too serious and stern- kind of "American Kirby is Hardcore" syndrome. From what I've seen of the comic art she has a very gentle, feminine face, quite rounded and soft looking, and generally fairly "cute" as opposed to the more angular and stern face the toy gave her.

Compare and contrast the toy head, which whilst cool and well-sculpted/painted, looks a lot less adorable:

Compare to the takara release where the paint apps are much closer to the comic art:
