Everytime I see his post, I instinctively check it out (Due to be internal wish to give myself an ulcer). Each time, I say to myself "I'm not going to reply," and yet, it's always so immature and stupid that I feel compelled to reply.

It's very weird.

I'm trying to kick the habit too, but not today apparently. Okay, time to implement Seibs Movie Forum Tactic #1...

But they are aliens. You don't know how they are created. Unless you've seen the movie. Have you seen the movie? If you have you are so cool. But if you haven't you're just making things up. That's not good. Makes you look silly it does and your arguments empty.

This "new generation" bull is by people who don't like Transformers as it is and want to change it. The copyright stuff is bull, too, because Bay can use anything Hasbro has used before because with the rights to make a movie, he got the right to temporarily use Hasbro's material legally.

Just because he can doesn't mean he should.

Transformers are getting a modern day make-over. Kinda like the Classics line. But rather than going with the ol blocky look they tried something else.

Heck it even works on some of them.

Oh and battle masks? They had 'em in Beast Wars so there ya go, Bay's gone back and used stuff from the past! Personally though I don't care about them one way or another.

Oh and one other thing ...

Okay, derailed enough.

I don't really understand the point of battle-mode heads. Perhaps they give enhanced vision and protection, but aren't really good outside of combat?

very well.

***DISCLAIMER: DESPITE ANY POSSIBLE APPEARANCES TO THE CONTRARY, I DISAGREE WITH BLUEBULLET.***

personally, i feel that the whole two heads thing is pretty pointless. i really don't see why any advantages which a battle head may provide would be disadvantageous in non-combat situations. i wasn't a big fan of the idea on the bw toys either (thankfully it never made it to the show), and honestly, of all the things from the various past series which could potentially have been recycled, i think this idea was a rather poor choice. i would greatly have preferred each character to have one face which (here's where the danger of sounding like i agree with bluebullet comes in) was reminiscent of that character's namesake's classic face. not necessarily identical, mind you, but similar enough that you can tell by looking at it who it's supposed to be.

Given that we haven't really seen much in the way of facial expressions, the whole battle helmet thing might just be there to represent the "Battle time! Let's get ready for action" serious facial expression.

Or they simply needed a gimmick. I dunno ... ask me again in 129 days.

i forgot to mention one possible problem with using the "battle head" idea in this movie. this movie is intended to introduce these tfs to the general public. and we've already seen how much merchandising this movie is getting; come july, all sorts of products are going to have these new tfs' faces plastered on them. with that in mind, wouldn't it make more sense for the characters to each have one face that the audience could more easily become familiar with, rather than two alternating ones?

That'd be true if they were trying to market both faces. However they seem to have picked a 'promotional' face for each character. Bumblebee's is non-battle mode where as Prime's is battle mode, to give examples. All of Prime's promo materials, from posters, books, and toys have the faceplate. None of Bumblebee's promo material has his battle mask.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, btw. I've more or less stopped paying attention to promo material at this point. I've seen enough to know I wanna see the movie. I'm going off the top of my head here.

that's exactly my point; if they're going to use one face each in the merchandising, wouldn't it make more sense for each character to use that face throughout the movie as well, so that people who've seen the movie will be more likely to recognize the face on the merchandise?

I'd say it's fairly safe to assume that whichever face is most prominent on the merchandise will be the one the character uses for the majority of them movie.

That said, I don't think anyone is going to mistake Movie!Bumblebee, Movie!Prime, Blackout, or Movie!Megatron for anyone or anything else. The designs as a whole are rather distinctive, in any mode.

see that's the whole point, why have the battle face plate, or battle helmet in the first place. Like Optimus, or Megatron? It just seems like a complete waiste. They are robots who battle each other for milenia, and they are constantly at war, why have a down side face? It really serves no function at all.

If the helmet improves their vision or gives a heads up display, then why have that on part of the time, when it makes more sense to have it on all the time. I just cringe when I see bumblebees face, and though I do prefer the original designs, i wasn't suggesting the new designs become the original at all. I merely was stating that the whole "battle mode" sequences or concept all together is dumb, and don't really know why it became such a hot item to include in this movie.

If its to make them seem more human, ummm helllooooo they have 2 arms, 2 legs, one head, and hands or claws.. but still very much human. is a kibble face really necessary. I prefer the battle helmets over the faces underneath. and seeing prime with a freakin mouth defeats the purpose of him being that type of robot versus the others. What's next change shockwave to having 2 eyes and a mouth under a helmet with one eye? or making Jazz's visor retractable, why can't his visor just be his one large eye? he's a freaking robot!!What about soundwave, his face plate is just a battle mask and not his real face? it's like people can't accept that that's just the way their faces look. or should look.

I like the new megatron face, but if given the choice between the regular face and him in battle mode I would choose battle mode. It just looks better on him. Bumblebee looks like a Ro-Bear face from the 1980s Thundercats show, just put fur and hair over the helmet part.

Are the battle mode helmets made from the same emtal as their normal faces? Because if they are then surely they wouldn't help much. That would be like a human soldier putting on someone else's human face to protect them from gunfire, etc.

I think the "helmets" are just extra layers of protection for the mouth, eyes, etc.. Which makes sense to me.
