While I actually did like Age of Extinction, I would like to see another director take up the helm, just to see how they would do it.

I just like a bit of variety sometimes, nothing against Bay.

And he does. he said so himself just recently. He knows people will pay to see his movies, especially the TF films, even if afterwards they trash it and him. And in the end, sadly that's how success is measured in show business anymore.

I'd love beast wars but in reality, mostly fans would flock to see it. A general audience might really want to see Magmatron and and optimus primal fight but no a giant mouse like rattrap. and it also depends on if he makes them look like an actual gottila or a cybertronion gorilla. TBH id rather have the cubertronion version in my opinion with the same color scheme. BUt i have already written out what characters i would want in each movie if there was a beast wars movie saga

Interesting read. Film-making is all a business, after all, and Bay knows what sells and how to sell it.

Well he has his fans, I mean come on, he's hardly the worst out there. Also looking back, we as fans owe him some thanks (the same as we owe thanks to everyone who was a part of the movies...even Shia...) afterall thanks to the movie more fans were created, and to be fair we did get some pretty awesome toys out of it :)

:HEADHURTS: u can thank him dude!

i personally was disgusted with what he did with TF. I mean am i seriously supposed to think hes a good director cuz he made money?? come on! TF has one of the biggest built in fanbases since the 80s, these movies were gonna make money no matter what, he got lucky doing them........

As for the toys.......the movie toys were horrible expect for brawl and 07 leader prime and ROTF prime, the rest of the movie line was brutal! the AOE stuff is made with cheaper plastic and the leader figures are smaller but they expect us to pay 60 bucks(i live in canada)

its all about money to these morons thats it

if u can make a movie outta a guy dressed as a bat and make it as bad ass as the dark knight, then u can find another director that understands TFs and can make a seriously awesome movie, with characters u care about and have personalitys.....unlike the dinobots, ironhide, sideswipe, jazz, soundwave, shockwave and the list goes on, i loved those characters but in bays movies, they were basically nothing......

Of course it's about the money to Hasbro and paramount, they wouldn't of spent the money to make it otherwise.

The script problems weren't bay's fault, so you can point your finger elsewhere (though he finished RotF script, but with the writer's strike on at the time, he kinda had to, lest the movie be pushed back which I highly doubt paramount would of wanted). Also Spielberg pitched the initial pitch of the TF movie (boy and his first car) so he shares some of your opinion on the movies.

So in your opinion there was only three good movie toys? There was tons, what about Wreckage? Skystalker and Mindwipe, Stockade, Bludgeon even Evasion mode prime from AoE along with the new Dinobots. Other people believe these toys to be fantastic. You can't make statements about things like this as if it was fact, there will be plenty of people wanting to jump on you otherwise.

My main point with my last post is simple hindsight. Transformers as a brand is far bigger since the film series started, there are more fans in the collectors and definitely more fans in the main target audience, kids. So, because of that Hasbro has provided us with fantastic toys and new things.

I...wasn't impressed with Nolans batman movies, yes he took out all of the campy stuff that plagued the last two movies but he grounded it too much. Some of the fun about batman is that he is more or less a human in a world that has gods, aliens, intergalactic policemen and supermen in it. There was no sign of that in Nolans movies, and Bales batman...no thanks. Heath Ledger was good at bringing out parts of the Joker, but Jack Nicholson/Mark Hamil are my favorite movie/animated Jokers. Rambled on a bit too much there but in a way it shows something. If Nolan did Transformers I wouldn't be interested. Thus Paramount and Hasbro wouldn't get my money, remember, they want the TF movies to have mass appeal, not to the fans but to the general public and you know what they say about pleasing everybody...

Okay that was...a bit longer then I thought it would be :P All I'm saying is you don't have to like the moviverse but you still owe them some thanks for the brand existing as it is now, besides the films will be rebooted within the next ten years or so:)

I don't know if Michael Bay is the most important director, but I'd say his contributions shouldn't be ignored. Some of his work has been groundbreaking, at least visually. He's gone places and done things other directors might not be willing to.

He's a risk taker, but he puts in the work and it pays off. If nothing else, at least respect the man on his work ethic. I don't know of any other director out there right now that works as hard as he does. Is all of his work agreeable and does it make everyone happy? No. That's fair, but his work should at least be respected on the level of effort put into it. Physical, mental, etc. He works himself, his crew and his casts to their breaking limit and never gives up until it's finished.

As for this year's contributions, as of right now, he's helped to save the US box office from complete and utter disaster. X-Men: DOFP and GOTG will have bigger domestic takes than AOE has, true, but if AOE had been a disaster, it probably would've pulled the rest of the year down with it. This is not the best year for movies, and even analysts have admitted that this is one of the worst in recent history for cinema. Part economy, part offerings, US audiences just aren't turning out like they have in past years.

Bay's usually pretty good about getting people's butts in the theaters. If nothing else, you have to give the guy credit for getting people to spend money, regardless of the content.

I was not impressed by far with the AOE towline. Fro me it ws because all of the interesting characters are in the kids toyline one step changers. And there has been no character that wasn't in the movie that was a toy. Also, there could be a lot of option. They could sell very color trax, lockdown henchmen, lockdowns ship, steel jaws and so on. Anyway I don't think he is the most important director, but I think he should get credit for what he has done.

I care more for Bay as a Action director so yes I would say he is important to the Action genre in Hollywood. No other director can come up with more grandiose set pieces and all kinds of action combine. See the only problem is Bay needs a really good screenwriter to go with his expertise.

This is what I've been saying since 2007. Bay does well with what he knows how. Action. But if there's no good story backing it up, it's no use. Orci and Kurtzman are hacks, and Kruger is only slightly better.
