They'd probably very politely laugh in your face. The movies have made an obscene amount of money for everyone involved. Quality is debatable, of course, but companies never stop doing anything that's raking in loads of profits.

Not to mention all the merchandising. We may just think of the toys, but there was also birthday supplies, games, costumes, clothing, food, bedding, personal care items, and on and on.

But still there wasn't enough to make me happy in all the movie. Good enough to go watch, but not enough to say that it met my expectations. I'll still watch it but would enjoy a G1 accurate reboot better. Who wouldn't really?

It's all about the benjamins. Even though his films are less than stellar, you can't say that he hasn't made Hasbro a ton of money off of this.

A petition to get Michael Bay off of Transformers? Yeah, that's going to work. Good luck.

I've got a great idea for you. Don't go see the next movie in theaters, don't buy it or rent it when it comes out, and don't buy the merchandise. Go watch the '86 movie and buy some G1 reissues. There. It's that simple. No one's forcing you to watch the damn thing or pay for it.

Now if you don't mind I can't wait for Transformers 4 directed by Michael Bay to come out in two years. I will be very unhappy if you ruin it for me, and so will the millions of other people who are highly anticipating it.

eli_5 wrote:But still there wasn't enough to make me happy in all the movie. Good enough to go watch, but not enough to say that it met my expectations. I'll still watch it but would enjoy a G1 accurate reboot better. Who wouldn't really?

I wouldn't. It would be trite and uncreative. I already watched the G1 series. It's fun and retro, but I don't need more of it. If or when they do a reboot I hope it's something completely different from this movie series and every other Transformers continuity. Transformers doesn't need 80's retro to thrive. It's time for everyone to just move on.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

Why all the Michael Bay hatred? I, for one, LOVED the trilogy. Yeah, they could've been better but the same could be true no matter who made them. Not everyone is going to be happy with the finished product. I didn't like some of the things that were done, but to me, the good far out-weighed the bad.

There are twomain problems with Bayformers: 1) Giant Robots seems to be only a decoys here. Everything is centered about Humans. 2) Despite the fact Decepticons have adventage in any possible way, Autobots wins any possible fight(maybe without Forest Battle) - even if enitre team of Optimus(Even Prime himself) seems to be as pathetic as it only could be.

That's because humans are easier for audiences to relate to (Considering the majority of the movie-going public is human) and giant robots are expensive to render in CGI.

How is this a problem with the movies? The Autobots rarely ever lose in the cartoons.

Sigh. Sometimes I feel like I really am the only entity in existence who appreciates his work with the 'formers.
PLEASE contact me if you have any of the following, or know where I can find them:
  • Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime's wings
  • "Softimus Prime", an Optimus Prime plush toy who seems to have vanished from eBay
  • G1 Optimus Prime's left arm, preferably with the long smokestack

Thank you.

You're not the only one. These forums are just a poor place to find people with similar opinions on the matter. Transformers fans aren't exactly known for being accepting of those with differing opinions. Just look at, well, every new iteration of the franchise. They always spawn levels of fanboy rage that should be considered mentally unhealthy.

Well, like it was said in diffrent topic: Bad Guys have their moment of glory. Also, considering all facts about this Universe (Decepticons are bigger, stronger and better armed than Autobots, also they are created from warrior class, also, they ountumbered Autobots) it's really hard to belive that they can't do much. It is like Autobots won only because they are the "good ones" and because they are our allies.

...I don't actually know what this means.
The only time where Autobots seems to be strong side is in the DotM game. Outisde it, Optimus Prime team seems to be rather unspectacular.

I don't know, Iron Hide and Sideswipes killing of Crankcase and Crowbar was pretty awesome. And also Bumblebee's judo/cannon blast killing of Soundwave was incredible.

It's hard to deny. But actually this is one of the main problems of the movies: It is like each Autobot must do something awesome, even if he supposed to be a friendly like scout, or a inceribly dumb brothers. For Autobots, failure is not a option, yet still it seems like they supossed to be family friendly and be less badass than Decepticons they defated.

Shadowman wrote:Everything you just said still applies to all other Transformers media.
In G1 Optimus was the one created to defend Cybertron (Alpha Trion upregade Orion Pax so he can stop Megatron) and seems to be superior in hand-to-hand combat. In Bayformers Optimus is a former archeologist and Megatron was military leader, even more in first movie it seems that Optimus is someway underdog in this conflict, and Megatron is always one step before him, I don't think Megatron even take him serious. Also in G1 and Animated usually Decepticons are he outnumbered ones. In Bayformers Autobots are ountumbered, they do'sent have acces to the most impresive toys of Cybertronian technology, most of Bots are canonically weaker than their Decepticons counterparts, yet in the end it simply won't change anything. Just give them few peoples for protect and endless limit of lucky shots.

New ideas?

"Ok, what if we have Transformers....but ANIMALS!"

How is that different from:

"Ok, what if we have Transformers...but as a LIVE ACTION MOVIE!"

Transformers has always been shallow. Don't delude yourself.

Orion Pax was, depending on the series, either a dock worker or Archivist before becoming Optimus Prime. Megatron is typically portrayed as a miner-turned-gladiator, but in the G1 cartoon was shown to have been created specifically to lead the Decepticons.

Not in Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy, or Prime.

If you listen to the commentary in the TF1 DVD, the US military was very generous and cooperative in its involvement with the making of the TF movie. The unspoken condition, of course, was that Bay portrayed them in as spectacular a fashion as possible. Representatives of the military also closely monitored the filming process to ensure they were being portrayed accurately.

It's partly the reason why the US military seem to be so heavily involved in the fights, to the point where they seem to be winning the fights for the Autobots.

Honestly, I'm fine with the Autobots winning against almost insurmountable odds; it's almost a tradition with the TF franchise. It's that the military seem to be fighting most of the battles FOR the Autobots that I don't care for. Yes, Optimus got to win some battles, but when it came to the big "free-for-all" battles, the Autobots were just background decorations while the military did their thing.

In any case, the advantage of numbers don;t seem to be doing the Cons any favors. Most of the Con's were simply shown firing blindly before getting shot in the chest. The worst has to be a scene in ROTF where Megatron was shown firing at several tank at POINT BLANK range and MISSING, while the tanks pummeled him with explosive rounds, making him turn tail.

That said, DOTM was a step in the right direction, where military involvement was toned down to an acceptable level. Guerrilla tactics was a good idea--the humans take advantage of their miniscule size to ambush the Cons, making it much more believable.

I also like the greater involvement and interaction between the human soldiers and the Autobots (Bee training with the NEST soldiers, and Ratchet directing a mortar attack in the final battle.)
