I last updated this thread 3 1/2 years ago. Time flies, huh? Well, I've decided that today is the right day to update my collection thread for two reasons: First, I won't be making any additions for three or four months - for positive reasons that I'll keep to myself - and #2, I was also taking pictures for insurance purposes. Might as well share them.
Over the years, as spring cleanings came and went, and so did my Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Mask, Thundercats, Silverhawks, etc., I managed to hold onto 100+(!) Transformers from my childhood. They were always my favorite, and I'll be damned if they ever get thrown out.
I've since doubled up on some of those G1s with reissues and toys in better shape, so with that count, I'm easily at 200+ G1 toys in my collection, even though a good chunk of them aren't out on display. At the moment, I'm not actively buying G1s, though I will pick up missing parts when I feel comfortable doing so.
The shelves are 2x IKEA's Billy bookcases with Morebo glass doors. The one on the left has glass shelves, while the one on the right does not. When I first purchased my glass shelves, they were $5 a piece whereas they are now $10 a piece. Next time I'm at IKEA, I'll probably be buying another set of 4. Also, the bookcases are $70 each, and the doors are $45 each. It's expensive, but it definitely classes things up. Plus, it was the best option to fend off my destructive cat.
I just found Slugslinger's partner hidden in a Gobots power suit after taking this photo. I thought I lost him years ago!
Seacons: Not a reissue
It's obvious here, but some parts are missing. I recently replaced Waverider's axe, which can't be seen at all
That Shockwave is way broken, and can't even stand, which is why he's up there and not with the other 84-85 G1 toys.
Soon to be added, Wheeljack, Gen TC and FP Bruticus upgrades all in my BBTS POL. Also, that's a Renderform Lucky Draw gun in Red Alert's hand
I collect paperwork and packaging as well, which I keep in binders like so.
I've also got this Zone animation cel that I bought before toy collecting became a thing for me to do. It's pretty beat up, but I've always found that endearing.
This is how I store my parts. I've got individual bags with each characters name on them, otherwise, I forget who's part belongs to whom.
FIN.
