I remember the day I made the harsh decision to get rid of my DW reissue boxes. I took out the inserts, stored them away, and threw those badboys out. Crazy times there...crazy times.

That's...MADNESS!!!!

Anyway, great collection It Is Him! :APPLAUSE: Nice selection from a the greatest Genereations (except I didn't see any Energon/Cybertron..perhaps you're G1-centric). Good stuff! I use the same strategy with all my packaging too, it works out quite well.

Thanks! It's true what you said about Energon/Cybertron, I'm G1-focused. Ultimately, my budget is modest and I've found that I enjoy that old stuff the most, so that's where my money is going. Maybe one day I'll add Superion Maximus to my collection, but not anytime soon. :P

On a budget, that's a great choice to make, nothing beats the old-school goodness of G1! I stick to characters I like, so I'll never be a completist. As it is my collecting is rather expensive...

I'm jealous of your PM Prime Reissue, it's next on my big list of figures to get. I still have the old busted up one I got for Christmas when I was a kid, but it's time for a replacement. I think I'll still display the old truck cab in my collection though, as a nod to my well-loved original. :)

Can I get this thread moved to the collections forum? I'd like to update it eventually.

In bumping this thread, I never realized I completely overlooked this post.

Thanks Kirbenvost! (I know it's late) I too got my PM Prime for Xmas, and then beat the living crap out of it as well! He's easily one of my collection favorites. Nothing beats nostalgia. B-)

That's one reason that I don't keep boxes. I know it increases the value of the toy, but I also feel that not playing with it at least a bit is somewhat of a shame. Would you buy a book and not read it? A toy's purpose it to be played with.

My biggest problem in regards to cleaning, is keeping the dust off. I use plexiglass covers, but that only slows down the dust. The most effective thing that I have found is to use Aero dusters, but you have to be careful on some toys because the pressurized air can damage some parts.

Later this month I'm heading to Ikea to get new display cases with glass covers. If I'm spending thousands of dollars on my collection, I want to take care of it. Besides, buying new furniture comes with the territory of moving, I suppose. I still haven't bought an aero duster yet, but my only excuse for that is laziness. Thanks for the tip (by the way, I'm still completely humbled by your collection, and somewhat by your taste in literature as well :D ).

Great collection, man! I recently did the ceremonial disposal of excess packaging as well. Your PM Prime looks great. I've still got my G1 original on display. Picked up the guns I was missing at BotCon, now I just want a new set of stickers for him.

Also, I'm totally digging the G2 stuff. G2 never gets the credit it deserves.

Thank you! Though the photos are a bit dated now. (:

Agreed. G2 repaints have really grown on me, as well as the new molds. I'd like to add more if I come across good deals (mysteriously, I've noticed that some of the G2 combiner repaints sell for as much as G1 combiners MIB on ebay -- go figure).

I love the RH Ultra Magnus standing on G1 UM's shoulder. It's adorable.

I last updated this thread 3 1/2 years ago. Time flies, huh? Well, I've decided that today is the right day to update my collection thread for two reasons: First, I won't be making any additions for three or four months - for positive reasons that I'll keep to myself - and #2, I was also taking pictures for insurance purposes. Might as well share them.

Over the years, as spring cleanings came and went, and so did my Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Mask, Thundercats, Silverhawks, etc., I managed to hold onto 100+(!) Transformers from my childhood. They were always my favorite, and I'll be damned if they ever get thrown out.

I've since doubled up on some of those G1s with reissues and toys in better shape, so with that count, I'm easily at 200+ G1 toys in my collection, even though a good chunk of them aren't out on display. At the moment, I'm not actively buying G1s, though I will pick up missing parts when I feel comfortable doing so.

Image

The shelves are 2x IKEA's Billy bookcases with Morebo glass doors. The one on the left has glass shelves, while the one on the right does not. When I first purchased my glass shelves, they were $5 a piece whereas they are now $10 a piece. Next time I'm at IKEA, I'll probably be buying another set of 4. Also, the bookcases are $70 each, and the doors are $45 each. It's expensive, but it definitely classes things up. Plus, it was the best option to fend off my destructive cat.

I just found Slugslinger's partner hidden in a Gobots power suit after taking this photo. I thought I lost him years ago!

Image

Seacons: Not a reissue :D

Image

It's obvious here, but some parts are missing. I recently replaced Waverider's axe, which can't be seen at all

Image

That Shockwave is way broken, and can't even stand, which is why he's up there and not with the other 84-85 G1 toys.

Image

Image

Soon to be added, Wheeljack, Gen TC and FP Bruticus upgrades all in my BBTS POL. Also, that's a Renderform Lucky Draw gun in Red Alert's hand :D

Image

Image

I collect paperwork and packaging as well, which I keep in binders like so.

Image

I've also got this Zone animation cel that I bought before toy collecting became a thing for me to do. It's pretty beat up, but I've always found that endearing.

Image

This is how I store my parts. I've got individual bags with each characters name on them, otherwise, I forget who's part belongs to whom.

FIN.

I really like the way your collection is setup. Very clean and I like how you have the each faction facing each other on different shelves. Really cool setup and the way you put your cards in binders is genius. I am going to have to borrow that idea now.

I love those display cases. I was torn between the Billy cases and the Detolf cases for display. This is making me lean more towards the Billy (with glass doors). May be more expensive, but it looks REALLY good.

I also noticed that you put ALL of your movie stuff up. You must have lots of figures in storage. That kind of sucks. I always feel bad when I look at my display and know that a hefty chunk of figures are stuck in a box in my closet.

The biggest perk of the Billy cases is that my girlfriend doesn't mind them. Detolfs are great, but I was afraid that my toys might be more vulnerable to UV light. :-B

I felt the same way about having things in storage, which is why I started selling my entire Animated collection (every Hasbro Deluxe, Voyager and Leader), and large chunks of the movie collection. I have several bins for toys, and I'm always trying to economize that area. My space for storage is fairly limited.

They're 8 1/2 x 11 sheet protectors. You can get low quality packs in a box of 200 or so at Office Depot for $12ish, or a nice quality set of 25 by Avery for $5ish.

And Sixshot rules. Phase 6 officer all the way! :KREMZEEK:
