---------------

NOTE: This thread was formerly called "It Is Him's House Cleaning Thread" or something like that, and was about me taking control of my collection and throwing out a ton of boxes and reorganizing stuff back in early 2008.

It's been an odd experience collecting toys this past year. I've collected comic books, video games, records... but until last May, never toys. It started innocently enough, and maybe it got out of hand (I can admit that). But I've had fun and that's all that counts. Right?

That said, I've been using my closet shelves to display my TFs. It was a terrible idea on so many levels. Plus, I kept ALL the boxes. #-o

This past weekend came time to reclaim my closet.

How about a tour?

Image

Boxed TFs I will probably never open in the left corner. Marvel Comics (I have all of them except #80, The Universe series and GI Joe crossover series). Valentines cards  and opened cards in the Titanium box.

Image

Some more boxes. I think I did a neat job of "Tetris"-ing them together.

Image

Music Type C. Game A.

Image

Come on, four lines...

Image

Just give me a long one...

Image

And Tetris! Woo!

Now it's time to throw them out. Here's my attack strategy - keep all the bios and instructions. That means carded figures, well, keep the cards... boxes, cut out the backs. Hold onto the more collectible boxes (Unicron, Best Buy Voyager Movie Megatron, etc.). Now get to work.

Image

Image

It may be hard to tell. But those boxes are taking up half of my couch! :-x

Image

And SUCCESS! The results were better than imagined. Initially I didn't plan on cutting up the Classics boxes, but when I saw the results from my Movie collection, I had to give Classics the same treatment. And the best part, I feel like I've accomplished something. Very satisfactory.

Special thanks goes out to my foot for making a cameo in this photo.

Now to take out the trash...

You've got some nice stuff, that blue G2 Grimlock and G1 Computron have me alittle bit jealous.

You get extra points for the Genesis games.

Looks like UnicORn :o) only just fits. I've only just got a complete one - it's amazing how much better he looks with chest and stomach plates.
Nice to see some RiD in there - but you seem to be in need of UM to make your Omega Prime!

I remember the day I made the harsh decision to get rid of my DW reissue boxes. I took out the inserts, stored them away, and threw those badboys out. Crazy times there...crazy times.

I like the collection pics...very nice figures there. The only thing I can say is that you need some Beastwars figures. The Transmetals are freakin awesome and compliment any collection quite nicely.

I don't see RID Prime anywhere in there though Counter. But I agree, if you have RID Prime, you need RID Magnus for Omega Prime (one of the best looking figures out there). I got RID Prime and Magnus together, then found an extra RID Prime cab part (missing the armor), so now I can have RID Battle Prime and RID Omega Prime standing next to eachother.

Holy Friggen crap on a stick!

I KNEW I had seen those before with those stickers on them!

You got them from that little backwater Comic Shop on like...23rd?, right off of 13th Street, didn't you!

That guy had more shit packed into that tiny little store than he ever should have. It was a bloody fire hazard. They were like, in the back of the store mixed in with a bunch of other crap on a rack.

Ha ha...Gator Nation for real!

You shouldn't be jealous of my G2 Grimlock. The thing's a turd. It's got chrome wear, a loose leg and horribly misplaced and pealing stickers. The Computron I'm extra proud of though

Those Genesis games I was trying to get rid of a while back. I sold a bunch of stuff, like a Sega Nomad, to help pay for a guitar. Technocop is actually one of those worst games ever made. No joke. It's awful :P

Beast Wars stuff is awesome, but I'm trying to focus on G1 and related-G1 stuff for the moment. There's so much out there, I can't have everything

But I do want an RID Omega Prime. I'm just being patient.

Whoa. You got me :APPLAUSE:

Hoyt's comic book shop on 23rd. It's a cool little place where comic books go to die. The guy has more crap than he knows what to do with. I was able to argue him down on those G2s because he was more interested in unloading stock than turning a profit.

He also cut me a deal on Transformers comics.

Once again :APPLAUSE:

That's...MADNESS!!!!

Anyway, great collection It Is Him! :APPLAUSE: Nice selection from a the greatest Genereations (except I didn't see any Energon/Cybertron..perhaps you're G1-centric). Good stuff! I use the same strategy with all my packaging too, it works out quite well.
