I have been a little of Transformers Headmaster "saga" from Japan during the 80's on YouTube (if this illegal please warn me). I noticed the English translation of this song other than words "Head On," that there is a lot reference to "fighting to end war." I am not well versed in Anime, but one series I did watch was Gundam 00, which focuses on an organization (Celestial Being) that uses robot to eliminate war via combat.
Is it a common theme in Japanese Anime for there is to be "a big war to create peace", or did I just happened to stumble upon the two shows that have references to "fighting war with giant robots to end war."

From my own experience with anime, fighting to end war is a relativly common theme. Most Gundam series have this as an overal story arc.
