It was bound to happen eventually. Now Shia LaBeouf has said he won't be back for another Transformers movie, the rumor mill claims that Rosie Huntington Whitely's boyfriend Jason Statham is set to take over...
According to Showbiz Spy, Jason Statham is being lined up to take over as lead character in the next Transformers movie. Apparently, the fantastic box office takings since the movie opened last Wednesday have convinced Paramount to move ahead with a fourth instalment, and the British star is their top pick! As usual, take the following (along with the apparent plans for a fourth movie) with a pinch of salt...

"One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Statham," says a Hollywood insider.

"It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction. Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be an added bonus in marketing the movie."

And for that reason I couldn't see it working, a complete miss-match IMO.

Yeah, even though I liked those movies I don't think he's a good fit for Transformers.

Don't think they should try replacing Sam, let Shia like make a cameo and let it take place in the same story, but have it about a different civilian, or just do a reboot.

They could set it 10-20 years in the future and recast the role.

I don't care if they get Weird Al Yankovic to play Sam/Spike. I just want a good director and an awesome story.

Jason Staham is a cool choice. I always like his acting in action movies, even if the movie itself is corny (Crank/ Crank 2). I also believe he is friends with Chester Bennington from Linkin Park as he was also in both the Crank movies as a cameo role. So Jason is a good fit all around. I figured the box office numbers of DOTM would greenlight a fourth film sooner or later.
