The engineering and transformation schema for this toy is a bit disappointing, but the upper torso and the way it folds up is quite ingenious. Too bad there is no waist articulation.

I'll hold judgment until I get a copy of this toy.

Not a bad toy. Not bad. However, I do agree with Baltmatrix, the accessories do need some more paint than just red chrome (which does look cool I'll admit). I wish the face could transform into the battle mask and back again. I would have been a lot more happier.

The transformation reminds me of RotF Leader Starscream. especially the arms.

Jetfire is freaking AWESOME! Without the gaudy chromed outy accessories. Seriously, that chrome look out of place.

I may buy it anyway.

Super excited for Jetfire. I do like him weaponless, so I don't mind the straight red chrome, and I imagine Takara's version will fix the issue.

Also, I don't find the engineering to be sub-par at all - for yet another plane that simply has robot bits at the bottom, the transformation seems fairly involved, even if not so difficult.

Great looking figure and a very good review. Both modes look great, just a bit bland perhaps the lack of more paint detail is the reason.

I am not as impressed as I hoped. It's okay, but not amazing.

if someone makes addons for the figure, I hope they make covers for those forearms. you could probably make something that fits in the carved out parts without obstructing the holes. I just really don't want to putty that in and sand it :/

1) Put guns on forearms.
2) ????
3) Profit!

Even though I'll probably get this already, I would love to see a Cybertron repaint of him.

I'm pleased that the transformation is involved without being overly difficult, even if it is some VERY cheatsy engineering (faux cockpit, etc.). I can forgive that for the excellent robot AND alt modes, though. I can't wait for this to come out. He'll look fantastic on my Classics shelf, especially since he'll be more properly scaled with the rest of the Classics Autobots.

I really don't mind the fauxpit or the backpack on this one, so much as I mind say, Voyager Prime's faux windshield or Prime Smokescreen's faux hood (the latter mostly because the figure looks very... flat, I guess is the best word to describe it. There's very little depth to the chest and there's not much backing it so the figure looks like its chest has been squished)

Skyfire in robot mode, Jetfire in plane mode. Reminds me of Evasion Mode Prime in a way.

The robot mode is pretty cool, I like it without the accessories. Not sure about the nose cone on the back.

And I rather like the scale with deluxe figures. Should look cool next to Henkei Starscream.

I didn't know there's a Takara version planned, does anyone know when it's due?

Awesome objective review, Baltmatrix. I agree with a lot of your points and those of other reviewers. It would be nice if the cockpit (not on the chest) opened, and those spaces in the arms and inner thighs are dreadful. Chrome too much... agreed. Will definitely get though. Always thought the Classics Jetfire was too darn short! This guy is supposed to carry them places? LOL. Keep it up man, will definitely subscribe on YouTube to your channel.

I kinda find it amusing that after years of bitching at Hasbro for the lack of chrome on modern Transformers, when they finally start adding it again, people are complaining about it.

They just can't win.

Good figure, not as great as we all hoped for but good figure none the less. I will hope for a possibly better looking Takara version.

IMO the only major flaws are the exposed forearms as mentions and the fact that the rear landing gear doesn't retract...c'mon HasTak was that really hard to engineer? :VEHI:

I don't mind the chrome, personally. But I think the complaints aren't about the chrome per se, but how the weapons deviate from the more nuanced deco that was advertised. Oh well. He still looks great to me.

What I complain about is not the chrome itself. It's the fact that these red chore accessories just look WRONG on Jetfire. It would have made more sense if Jetfire himself had some chrome on him and/or the chrome on the accessories were broken in part by regular paint aps.

It's a fashion thing, really. Imagine if you have a vey suave black toxedo, but your watch, neckackes, earings, and hat, were all oversized and were in a very bright & shiny silver. This would look out of place and ridiculous.
Now, Elton Jhonn walk to you, in his fabulous suit, with glitter, sequins and **** allover it, but he's wearing very sober accessories. He's not looking better until you trade accessories with him. Voila, both ensembles are fixed and you both look great in your own way!

TlDr; Gen Leader Jetfire make a dubious fashion statement.

I think Hasbro is still "learning" with the vacuum metalized paint apps. Takara went through some similar growing pains with the Henkei line. Seriously, some of those figures just seemed to have chrome applied for the sake of it being somewhere on the figure. It's already getting better with Hasbro's chrome deco designs in some respects. Compare the random chrome applications to the likes of First Edition AoE Optimus Prime to the excellent use of chrome with Evolutions 2-Pack Classics Optimus Prime.

Wait for the Tomy version to correct the paint apps.
