My opinion hasn't changed on this figure, even with the impressive gallery. I don't totally hate it, but I won't get it unless it's clearanced or I find it cheap online. The Macross mold is much better, and even the Classics version is superior compared to the Generations figure.

The original toy is an amazing toy. But the Classics figure is extremely
inferior to the new Generations toy. I was never a fan of the Classics Jetfire toy between its oversized helmet and difficulty with posing its upper legs in a position that doesn't look awkward. The new toy, while it has some flaws, is far superior to the Classics version.

Kimosabe, you have to actually get a hold of it, transform it first before you judge. You won't be sorry RP. Really! Of course Tomy/Hasbro had to do some modifications with the transform sequence............it floors the henkei version but as stated in my post it's a mix between the Kawamori Valkyrie's transform sequence and the Mospeada Armos type. Fully transformed, the fuselage is almost seamless.
If I have a complaint, it's that we can't collapse the fist into the arm like the original Macross design. In the henkei, it's like Jetfire just flips his arms down (still to it's sides)while this version, the arms are folded into the mid fuselage.
Get it while you can........satisfaction guaranteed!

Yeah, my judgment is based on viewing the impressive gallery, I'll give you that. I haven't actually held the new figure, but I thought I got all the visual info I needed to make a decision. And I stand by my earlier statement of the Classics being superior. Of course, actually having the Generations figure in my hand might change that. If I find it for less than $25.

Fair thee well with your hunt then. But $ 25.00 for him? I doubt he will go on clearance.

The cheapest Leaders I've ever bought were Animated Leaders, which I got for $30 (at Walmart, I think), and the HFTD Leader Starscream that I got for $30(?) at TJ Maxx. I doubt that we'll ever see Leader Jetfire ever go that low.

I agree with that. Those figures you mentioned aren't in the how we should call it................. "AWESOMELY" designed bad@ss characters.
And my pal, despite owning an online specialty hobby store is simply getting floored by the number or orders he just can't fill up because Jetfire is such a highly requested item! 40 pieces sold out in one day!

I don't know if Jetfire will be available that cheap, but I've seen, bought, and passed on other leaders for that. I bought Animated leaders for $20. I bought AOE leaders for $26 a couple months ago. I saw ROTF Shadow Command Megs for $25 and passed...yeah, the same one that was selling for over $200 at one point. Almost bought it till I questioned WTF I'd do with it. The right answer woulda been sell it 6 months later for 10x the price...

Just checked ebay and the Megs you mentioned sells nearly $ 400.00. That piece of...........
? Anyway, Jetfire is a keeper in my book. I also noticed that at ebay he ranges from $ 48.00 to almost $ 100.00

My wife preordered him for my birthday I think. I am really excited about it. The Classics version is cool, but it never really completely did it for me as Jetfire.

The one thing I like better about Classics JF is the boosters. Even forgetting the uncalled for chrome, Generations JF's boosters just don't look right. Granted, I've only seen Genny in pictures so far, in person it could change.
I still love the figure and can't wait for mine to ship and get here, just the one thing I would complain about vs Classics based on pics.

The chrome is indeed distracting. Check the Tomy version pics I posted..........no chrome but extra paint apps.

I'll be holding out for the Takara/Tomy version. The chrome is just too out of place on the Hasbro one.

Maybe Tomy altered the look to avoid potential lawsuits from HG?

HG has no say in Japan, being a US-based licensee. The bigger problem is Bandai but the removal of the chrome may be for esthetic reasons only.

That's why I stated maybe. Btw, why would Bandai sue when Hasbro contracted them to use the mold years ago? It's not like Hasbro simply imported them (Jetfire, Roadbuster etc molds) under their noses? It was official and Bandai was very conspicious in the packaging and the manuals. Same with RB, Whirl and JF. They all look very much like their 80s incarnation and the only A-hole in the block most recently was HG with that Sky striker fiasco they pulled.
