46.5 is basically just an hour-long clip show of everything that happened since Godai's death up to the debut of Amazing Mighty. Mostly the fights. They're segued by some weird interactions at the restaurant.

Recap special, eh? I'm always in for that. Not now though. :)

Just started Agito and it really shows that watching Kuuga beforehand is a must, with "Unidentified Lifeforms" and "No.4" being thrown about. And despite having his ass kicked at first I'm loving G3 already. Maybe it's the blue color and all the machinery, I don't know. :x

Just to make things clear, I won't consider Agito a full sequel to Kuuga, more like set in a different "what-if" continuity, you know?

I finished Kabuto. I liked it. The over all story was good except how the Natives came in out of nowhere. The sub plots were dumb though. And I guess my favorite Rider would have to be a tie between Sasword and Gatack. I didn't watch the movie though. I got 10 minutes in it and then turned it off. It was it's own story and too different from the show. Any suggestions on which one to watch next?

Watch the Kabuto movie. It's arguably canon. And for 70 minutes it's a better story than the show which has no clue how to pace itself.

After that, watch Kuuga, Agito, and skip the rest of pre-W Heisei until better subs for everything come out. Tide yourself over with some Showa.

Slowly progressing through Agito and things are really getting mysterious with each Rider: Agito, Gills and G3. And who's that boy in black with the snake tattoo? (don't answer that, I don't want spoilers)

Welp, as I finished Jetman and Precure Splash Star, I started on Agito. It's very different from Kuuga, but I like it. We know nothing about Agito, and the first episode even tries to suggest that it could be either Shouichi or the dude that becomes Gills, the police are trying to downplay the threat of the Unknown at first, and even denying the existence of Agito. Fair enough, the first time around nobody but G3 saw him, and his camera broke.
I noticed a timeline hole if this is meant to be a sequel to Kuuga. Kuuga definitively took place in 2000, when it aired. Agito refers to the events of Kuuga as happening two years prior, but they go on to state that the year is 2001, when it aired. Someone should have noticed that during production.

Also G3 is totally a Metal Hero.

Just finished Episode 10 of Agito and things now really get interesting with Souichi's sister, Ryo's father, and Toru not having what it takes after all

Totally agreeing with you there. Which would he resemble the most?

By virtue of being a silvery beetle, probably B-Fighter Kuwaga. None of the Metal Heroes really had the trademark rider bug eyes....for obvious reasons, but still. That's the closest match I can think of, appearance-wise.

So, I got through ep 6 of Agito, which is Gills's formal debut. I'm looking forward to watching Ryou's struggle, it looks like a great character arc. Hikawa gets some background, apparently he saved everybody on a sinking ship except one person, and the police want to cover that up. Hmm, I wonder who that one person was? (it's hilarious when Toei thinks they're being subtle) Ryou's girlfriend was a ridiculously wooden actor and I'm honestly glad she's gone. Shouichi is pretty interesting when he's not trying to be all innocent and fun. When an Unknown appears and he has to struggle with becoming Agito, we see the real Shouichi, and that's cool.

How long until G3-X? :P

I couldn't tell you I just passed episode 14. :P And does every main Rider have to go through a near-death experience? First Kuuga and now Agito.

Well, I'm up to ep 23 or 24, so I answered my own question about G3-X. As for near-death experiences:
1. Yes
2. Near-death experiences by falling into shallow water are a famous trope of Agito's main writer, Inoue. Others include the inability to resolve misunderstandings for long stretches of time because people just don't talk. Fortunately Agito seems to be less offensive in those regards than some of his later shows.......Faiz, I'm looking at you.

Great...

I have to get this off my chest: I adore the neighborhoods in Agito. So many trains! :x

I've gotten through Agito 30. Trinity Form was nice while it lasted, now I chomp the bit waiting for Another Agito, Burning Form. and Exceed Gills. At least we're getting plot development while we wait.

By the way, when you get to ep 28, do not adjust your monitor. It's supposed to be 4:3, except for the op and flashbacks/forwards to other episodes the director for that episode did a weird thing. I dunno why the subbers didn't encode it in 16:9 widescreen with boxes on the sides since only 10 people still use 4:3 monitors, but whatever. Good Ryou focus episode.

Glad to see this thread's still going, it's been a while since I've been on the boards.

Since I last posted in here, my watched list has increased dramatically. I've now seen every series (but not all the movies, no Shin, ZO or J yet) from Black to Wizard, as well as thirty-some episodes of the original series from 1971.
I'm holding off on watching many of the showa era series until I can find someone who's subbed them, and completed them... I know a group that's in the process of subbing some, but if I start, I'll quickly get through their backlog and get to that point where I'm impatiently waiting for the next release, like I am with the original series.

On the toy collecting side of things, I've nearly completed my collection of the regular release Fourze Module Change Series figures! Only missing Meteor w/ Machine Meteostar, DX Power Dizer w/ Machine Massigler and Fourze Cosmicstates. I say "regular release" because there's no way I'm gonna ever have the cash in hand to get the Rocketstates exclusive, or the special painted basestates with all 40 modules set. Also, been collecting SIC Kiwami Tamashii figures, great figures, cool redesigns, amazingly detailed for their size, and reasonably priced, to boot... except Faiz... I dunno what's up with the KT Faiz being around $100 on ebay... you can get regular SIC Faiz for less in some cases, and that's like... twice the size or more, with far more features and accessories.

Anyway, I'm done rambling...

I haven't seen ZO or J, but I've seen Shin, and I have to say there's a reason he's not fondly remembered. This movie came out around the same time as Jurassic Park, which as we all know was a landmark in special effects. Despite that, the effects in Shin look positively campy. He is never more than a dude in a rubber suit, even though the actual transformation scenes are pretty graphic. The gore looks laughably fake, the plot is a joke, and the ending is really WTF. The best part is probably Ishinomori Shotaro's cameo early on. It's worth seeing once, but it's a bad movie.

In other news, I've made good headway on Agito. I'm up to episode 40 or thereabouts, and I'd be done by now if I hadn't had a busy work schedule last week. I plan to finish up within the week, at which point I'll have seen all Heisei kamen rider. Then I'll probably start on the original.

Well, it took me a little longer than anticipated, but I finished Agito. Great show. I could see Inoue falling into some of his more negative tropes in the last stretch, especially regarding Houjou, but it all worked out in the end. I've been informed that word of god says Ryou's new dog dies shortly after, so he really is forever alone.

So a couple of weeks back i decided to finally get around to buying a doubledriver-the super best version, no less-and it arrived today. I could not be more satisfied with the purchase. I also managed to get over my heartbreak and accept that Double has actually ended, and am around 20 episodes into OOO. Whilst I do like it, a lot more than I expected, I kinda doubt I'll try and hunt down the belt-there are too many medals to keep track of (and the fact you can see the chip through the tora medal irks me to no end)

21 canonical medals, plus cells. Not that many compared to Fourze's 40 switches or Wizard's innumerable rings.

It's still a fair nuber to pick up and hunt down, imo, especially with a relatively limited budget.
A question, however, about the doubledriver-with the actual belt strap attachments, on the one side there are a couple of buttons to press to release the latch, but the other strap doesn't seem to have anything like that? If i were to attach it is there actually any way to take it off without risking damage to the belt?

Bump for Kamen Rider Gaim discussions

Samurai I can deal with, but fruit? Ok... Rivaling Kamen Rider should be nice to see, I wonder if it will be like Ryuki. Right, time to catch up with Agito, I'm still stuck in episode 17.

Ok, I'm now at the half-way point of Agito (took me long enough  ) and now things are really starting to get interesting and to an extent, philosophical about human nature. And let's face it: Riders fighting each other is just plain fun to watch.

Hello? hello...hello... Anybody there? there...there... Echo! echo...echo...

Finished Kamen Rider Agito and tagged on Project G4 for good measure. And might I say, the story is more involved than Kuuga was. The fight scenes do suffer from it tho, sometimes coming too late and being too short IMO. Still a good series to watch. The movie doesn't suffer at all from those problems (aside from Ryou needing a tad more exposure), and G4 himself is rather tragic. Overall, Agito makes you think about what the difference is between good and evil, and about humanity itself. At least that's what I think.

Off to Kamen Rider Ryuki!

still waiting for TVN :) though they're getting closer to finishing Faiz
i also watched the first ep of Wizard, and it looks good at first glance.
hopfully will be able to do that Rider-marathon next year.
also, they've been announcing a new VS movie, this time it's showa riders vs heisei riders, with a lot of the original actors reprising their roles apparently.
