Kinect

So I got myself a Kinect today and though I've not had too much play time I'm impressed. The one thing I am disappointed with is the range of launch games, they all seem to be fitness or dance games with only a few exceptions. I'm no dancer but I did order Your Shape Fitness to try and tone myself up a bit.
So what would you like to see take advantage of this technology? Maybe some virtual martial arts trainer or an old skool 2D platformer?

Personally, after a hard day at work, I just want to sit on my arse and play games - moving around or doing mild, repetitive exercise is the last thing on my mind.

I think that Microsoft & Nintendo have overtaken Sony in the Console Wars. Let's face it, the Move is basically a wireless Wiimote & NunChuck with a glowing ball at the end. IT'S JUST A MORE EXPENSIVE WIIMOTE! With Nintendo coming out with the 3DS & Kinect being the first fully controller free add on, the Move won't get very far. Right now Shigereu Miyamoto & Bill Gates are high fiving.

While both MS and Sony are just hopping onto the motion-control bandwagon set forth by the Wii's stellar sales, I give Microsoft credit for at least trying to mix up the formula. Personally, I see the Kinect's potential as limited simply due to the lack of any form of button or controller input. But maybe I'll be proven wrong. Doesn't mean I'll buy one though.

As for Sony...

Found this image years ago and it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the Move.

You know what the Kinect makes me think of? The EyeToy. What's the EyeToy? It's Playstation's version of Kinect...from 2003. The PlayStation Eye came out a few years ago as well.

So Microsoft is ripping off Sony, Sony is ripping off Nintendo, and Nintendo is the only one doing anything original anymore.

Actually, the EyeToy was just a camera, and the kinect is an actual controller. so points to microsoft.

The Kinect is also a camera. Both of them use motion detection to control the game. The Kinect just adds bits of the Wii's technology and a microphone.

Rock n' roll! Thanks for the link!

Now MS just needs to hire those geeks and put them to work on Windows 8/9!
