knockout rims recommendation?

Postby warwik311 » Sun May 20, 2012 8:42 pm

I'm thinking that my first attempt at repainting a bot is going to making knockouts rims the right color. Can anyone recommend a good paint for the job. Any tips?

Love it.

My recommendation:
What you'll need is a bottle of Testors flat white, a bottle of Testors gloss yellow, paint thinner, and a 00 or 000 brush. You should be able to pick those up at any hobby shop, Michael's, or Pat Catan's. Do two coats of white (let the paint dry at least an hour between coats!), then two of yellow (three hours 'tween coats for gloss). There a pronounced lip where the tire meets the hub, so you should be able to keep the paint off the tire, though you can gently scrape off any paint if you go over.

this^ also use some tape to put around the rest of the wheel so the paint does not get around the rest of it. i just finished painting my knockouts rims. i used insignia yellow from modelmaster.

This is something I'd been wondering myself, but there wasn't much sense in asking since I STILL haven't found KO. :( Thanks for the tips! I'll make sure to remember this post, haha.
