When it comes TF series being in English, these are the only two where I couldn't continue watching. (Armada was barely tolerable for me.)
Glad to hear that you're open-minded. However, while I cannot say the same for Energon, RiD got way better as it went on. It's best to view that show in three story arcs: Episodes 1-13 focus on the Autobots vs. the Predacons, episode 14-26 focus on them dealing with the Decepticons and the rogue Autobot Ultra Magnus, and episodes 27-39 focus on them tangling with the power of the titanic Fortress Maximus and nigh-unbeatable godlike Galvatron.

Though, Energon was just terrible, but I cannot deny that it did have some very few aweome points, like the one-on-one fight between Optimus Supreme and Unicron. 8)

I would have to go with Animated. I don't really know it that well. I am getting some of the digest comics to check out more about it, but the overall look is not to my liking. I know there are other TF versions out there that I probably don't even know about, but Animated is the one I at least have seen something of to comment on it.

Watch the cartoon. It'll give a better outlook than the comics would.

Pretty much anything in between Beast Machines and Animated. I didn't like Animated at first but after I watched a few episodes it got pretty good.

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
Armada. Starts as Pokeformers, then it becomes quest for the three holy weapons that do utterly nothing later in the show, later the show is about "just let's kill as many minicons as possible" and in the end, it's fighting Unicron, who is just as exciting, dangerous, and fast as an iceberg.

Thanks Sabrblade. I'll have to check out the cartoon. It seems like a lot of cartoons that came out in the 90s and even today start out rough and then find their footing as they go along.

I know that Beast Wars started off a little rough for me, but then later on I really loved watching it.

I wish that IDW would try relaunching that as a series, but go back to a new beginning because while their comic mini-series for Beast Wars was good, it relied too much on fans of the show and figures to gain readers. New readers would get los very quickly it seemed.

With Animated, most of its fans were hooked by the first episode (since it was actually the first three episodes edited together as a TV movie special). What got most people captivated by it were its fan nods to past series, its voice acting, its Decepticons being super powerful juggernauts, its Optimus not being a boring Mr. Perfect, and more.

Cartoon series: Armada, Energon, Cybertron. Each one was worse then the last.

Comics: Having actually read all of them (and most of them when they first came out) I'm going to be slammed for this but the early IDW stuff up to All Hail Megatron. That was the turning point. Before that there were some good minis like Megatron Origin and the Spotlights but the episodic 6 issue limited series format was boring and the stories just weren't fun. Again it must be said that the vast majority of the Spotlights ruled.

Now you saying that has me even more excited to check it out. I love nods to the past and I like the idea of a more dynamic Optimus....plus your heroes are only as good as your villains, so increasing the threat of the Decepticons sounds good to me.
