LInkin Park Returning for Transformers: Age of Extinction?

This will come as little surprise to most considering their involvement in the previous three live action Transformers films, but Linkin Park's Chester Bennington has hinted that they may be returning for Transformers: Age of Extinction. Benningtion was recently interviewed by Sixx Sense where he mentioned that given their past relationship with the franchise that it makes "total sense" for them to be involved this time around as well. You can listen to the entire interview on Sixx Sense by clicking here.

Was just thinking the other day why we hadn't heard anything about their involvement. I'd be very surprised if they weren't involved. Plus their involvement always tends to get fanboys knickers in a twist, that's always good for lulz.

dear god i hope not im so tired of them being associated with transformers, its time for someone new & someone better. Bay & hasbro keep saying that this movie will be different but i just keep seeing more of the same, heres your chance to change that. Why not give some up & coming band their big break or find someone whos been out of the game for a while & is trying to get back in, Red Dragon Cartel would be a great choice and the name even fits with the motif of the movie. Granted id like to see them paired up with a better movie but with all the zombies that will be running out to see this it would be great publicity.

Typical Hollywood wankfest, making sure everyone gets in on the act to get a decent cut of the money... But then, I suppose the music is so important  . After all, who needs a plot that makes sense? Certainly not the previous 3 films.

It's 3 months to release, and they're just now announcing this? I figured that not only would this be a done deal, they would already have at least a rough cut of a song. I'm not a fan of the band, but "What I've Done" and "New Divide" were pretty good. "Iridescent" kinda sucked, though. Even if it fit the mood of DoTM.

Actually, Linkin Park's song were few the only things good in ROTF and DOTM. If they are back, it good. At least this 2 hours won't be a total waste of time with them.

Been following LP for years, listening to their progression and how their work has changed and matured (which most fans or music listeners in general don't seem to get, they just get pissed off when something doesn't sound exactly like THEY think it should) and while the songs they did do fit well with the Movies, even though in one case they just they the track off a new release into the mix and it just happened to fit for Transformers, I don't think they should continue their association with the franchise.
Yes, Transformers are all about change and adaptation but LP has changed too much to continue with the TF franchise and likewise, the franchise has changed to the point where they need too not have LP tagging along.
I'm not thrilled about TF4 even being made to begin with and neither am I am impressed with LP's work after the "A Thousand Suns" album so they may actually still be a good fit for each other(see: "Beating a dead horse") but it just seems to me that if the TF's are going darker in the tone of the movies and ramping up the action (cheapening the franchise, imho) then they need to go with someone like Avenged Sevenfold or Disturbed for a headlining soundtrack contribution.
These simply aren't a "Thinking Mans" type of movies and you don't need to involve a band that has shown some maturity and intellectual progression over the years in such a project.

All day, every day, all I do is think. Your argument is invalid. And the movies have shown maturity. The first movie was basically a kids movie. Two kids had a secret and tried to hide it from their parents and the entire world, basically. ROTF was more on the lines of... "teenagerish" I'd say. **** got real and brought out into the forefront and no one could hide from the threat of Decepticons and the existence of the Autobots anymore. And DOTM was more adult-ish. With actual consequences taking place in the result of harboring the Transformers on earth for so long.

And AOE is a new beginning. A chance for the grown ass TF movie franchise to re-invent itself. Just like a newly formed adult getting a job that pays enough to actually buy his own house and allows him to do whatever the hell he wants to do next, forging a brand new public image for himself.

I don't really know how I feel about this. While I do love Linkin Park and their previous involvement in the movies, AOE really could use a change from previous installments.

You do realise that more than one band makes the soundtrack right? That since the First film they have only contributed one song per movie? So each sound track had anywhere front 12 to 14 songs, so in total that means that 3 songs out of 34? So if you don't like there music skip it and listen to the 31 remaining songs.
Several bands within the soundtrack were up and coming. Several had been out of the game for bit and had there chance. Get it? Had there chance. Linkin Park is a world wide known name and has had great success with there music. Their a good band. You don't have to like them, but like it or not their music has played a pivotal part of the movies success.
"If it aint broke, then don't fix it".
I guess you can say that their to the movievers what Stan Bush was to the 86' animated movie. I for one am glad their going to be part of the new movie.

I think it would be great for the Franchise if they continued on the soundtrack for AOE.
I also think it would be fine if they didn't. The music for the previous films were great. :APPLAUSE:

Edit: "What I've Done" Just started playing on Pandora..... :APPLAUSE:

I was just going to do that

Personally I'm a fan of Linkin Park and their inclusion in the movies was a welcome one from me. Even some of their newer stuff I think would fit AoE, they even have a new album coming out around the time of the movie's release.

It's funny, last year the OHL team here used the New Divide music video before the start of the game but cut the parts with the Transformers and used clips from the team instead.

Linkin Park has really fallen away since their first album, well over a decade ago, a lot of what they've made up until DOTM has been mediocre at best, but Iridescent for DOTM was a very melodic song that could fit so perfectly into the movie...Except they used it within the movie in awkwardly small chunks, and in the absolute wrong parts of the movie, rather than larger chunks in the more emotional parts of the movie.

I don't actually doubt LP in making the right atmospheric music for the movie, I doubt the creators of the movie to use the music effectively, as they have failed in the last several movies.

How the hell did it play in the "wrong parts" of the movie?

I would say that I misspoke in my previous post, but that it wasn't too far off - The main song 'Iridescent' had the exact timing/message of the 3rd movie splayed out well, but when it actually came to being played in the movie, they spread it out into awkward/wrong chunks too small and ultimately diminished whatever impact it was supposed to have on the movie as a whole.

Linkin Park Not Collaborating with Steve Aoki for Transformers: Age of Extinction, May Still Feature

Quite a while back we reported on Chester Bennington of Linkin Park claiming that it 'made total sense' for the band to be working on Transformers: Age of Extinction, seeing their past relationship with the previous films. In a recent episode of Tweet Out, on Geek Nation, however, band member and director Joe Hahn was asked whether Linkin Park will be working with Steve Aoki on the movie, and gave an ambiguously negative response. Does this mean they won't be returning? Will Imagine Dragons take over for the first installment of the Transformers new trilogy? Or does it just mean they will not be collaborating with Aoki, but still feature? Check out the answer in the embebbed video below (06:25) and speculate away in the Energon Pub!

1.- I didn't see anything negative about that response. Seemed more like he was analyzing the question to give the appropriate response.
2.- I don't see him flat out denying Linkin Park's part in the movie. Could be that they're just that they won't be working with Steve Aoki on this project.

He said 'nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoo'. That's a negative response.

But yes, that does not mean that they're out, just that the answer to *that particular question* is 'no'. That's what I wrote in the news piece. :D

I liked "What I've Done" and "New Divide" from the first two films, but I didn't care for "Iridescent". Eh, 2 outa 3 ain't bad!
