ok i got news for u all

1 - it ISNT Chms who made the ko battle tanker. Apparently its someone other ko company.....this alone has put me off alittle since it isnt chms however it IS the same ko company that made the City Commander kos. Hopefully this should mean it should just be slightly loose in afew places which can easily be fixed

2 - it isnt all pink. Its ment to be close to the original but not 100% paint wise

ive asked about the quality but havent gotten an answer but will say what gets back to me

Kapow Toys have the original version listed back up to £80! >:oP

Multiple Chinese sellers on Ebay knocking out the high quality KO (according to Robot Kingdoms comparison) delivered into the UK for around £30/£35!

Now owning a Battle Tanker upgrade can be easy for everyone at a good price....
but tracking down a G2 Prime in the UK has become a nightmare!

I can only guess that certain smaller UK Transformer retailers are gonna hold back their stocks of the G2 Prime for a while as the demand for him will increase with said KO being in arms reach.
Once everyone who wants one are happy with a KO Battle Tanker retailers will squeeze a few G2 Primes out at an inflated price, probably so they can break even with all the official MakeToys Battle Tankers they have in their stock rooms?

So I can only see the next step in the KO Battle Tanker saga being a KO of G2 Prime (especially in Scourge deco) being offered up over the coming months? :-?

If the price was going to go up for G2 Optimus it would have before the Maketoys Tanker came out. I would also have said that KOs of it would be unlikely but with the mold being used for Botcon this year, it is a distinct possibility. If their isn't one by July, there won't be one.

The original MakeToys version is quite expensive for a lot of people, so the demand for G2 Prime would have been low, but now everyone is aware of the decent KO being available, the G2 Prime price has shot up or stock may be being held back ready for the obvious demand.
Makes sense really... ;)

really? because i saw 2 on ebay yesterday go for less than £12 with postage......

alot of people hate the figure unless he has the tanker

im assuming the same will happen with this figure over time now like what happened with the White classics prime all of a sudden costing over £70 just because of the city commander kit which you can get the ko of for less than £30

Nope, as I have been checking Ebay on a regular daily basis and have not seen even a second hand one for less than £25?

Exactly! KO Ultra Magnus and KO City Commander can be picked up cheap as chips now, so with the KO Battle Tanker being freely available for a good price, its only a matter of time for the G2 Prime to be knocked off in my opinion? :-$

But how many years later is it from City Commander? G2 Optimus and Battle Tanker are still considered new product and the KO still hasn't even been received by the people who first ordered it yet, though I will have mine within the week. There just wasn't the same frenzy over any of this like there was for City Commander or even Protector (which still hasn't been KOed yet!) or look at Hardhead. His figure languished over here until Headrobots announced their upgrade for it and it's price hit the roof while it was still on clearance in most stores! Now, Hardhead is still expensive but the Headrobots set isn't. They don't always balance back out.

So I was never interested in the Battle Tanker set. The KO intrigued me for the price, and I really considered getting it. I started to like the set more and more. But the KO headsculpt is hideous. I can get past the chewing squirrel cheeks, but what about that pointed nose that's sticking out the faceplate?!?!
So eventually I ended up getting the real deal.

Now... who said that KOs are ruining the 3rd party market?

He made his choice. As I have said all along: the KO is to make Scourge out of and I do intend to get the real Tanker down the line. Basically, I have a G2 shelf and right now and the Classics twopack Megatron is squaring of with Laser Optimus. If the Asian market G2 Megatron from Bludgeon looks worth it, I'll need something to bump up Prime. I'm not going to get it until I'm sure I need it but I definitely want it.

I got the KO Battle Tanker in the mail today! It has real good plastic and the plastic colors are spot on to the pictures of the real one but the silver paint apps are a mess. The LED for the sword is super weak, like ridiculously so. I didn't think they came that dim. The new crotch piece for Laser OP doesn't get all the way flush together with the back aft piece but it's on enough that the upgrade waist stays on so there's that. The plastic, while sturdy, has a lot of little extra nubs and bits (Drift's sword had this kinda badass hook at the tip) that need to be snipped off but not sanded down. The packaging is really cheap, like it was designed for nice thick card stock and they went with the thin cheap shoebox stuff instead. And if the plastic inserts were any thinner, they'd be imaginary. I actually like the weird, gilled faceplate but that's because I'm turning it into Scourge so it's okay to look a little ugly. It looks exactly like the pics Robot Kingdom posted so I didn't take any new ones. Honestly, having this on my table and painting it black, I really do want to get the real one now. The KO will do for making Nemesis Prime but that's about it.

I recommend it and a black can of spray paint.

Lol, the cardboard sounds exactly the same as the original, that's made from cheap paper too.
The new crotch piece from the original also doesn't fit nicely on OP.
A hooked sword does sound kinda badass.

I found the original's crotch piece fit great on both Primes I tried it on (one Prime suffered from the neck breaking problems of the original head).

I guess all the parts for on Prime nicely and that there's no loose joins, then?

I just got my KO tanker in the mail today. For the price I'm very pleased with it. I actually thought the packaging looked rather good, just a little washed out, especially the insert card with artwork of Prime. I'd frame that thing if it didn't look like it had been left out in the sun for too long ;)

As for the tanker itself, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the plastic and the the tightness of the joints, all firm without being too tight. The only major problem I saw was the waist armor has a misapplied green paint app, but a few minutes with my paint kit fixed that. The LED is nearly non-existent its so dim, but I wasn't interested in the light up feature anyway. I was really turned off by the head in the pics, but in person I actually like it. Mine actually had good paint apps for the eyes, and the head looks much more fitting than the original. I removed the original by taking the head apart and held the plate with the ball joint with my finger under it when I put the new head on. A little slight wiggling and it popped on pretty easily, though I admit to sweating bullets for a minute for fear of breaking the neck. The Drift sword is a huge improvement for poor Drift. That floppy rubbery one he came with can go in storage now and I just need to add a blue dot to each side of the hilt to jazz it up a bit.

This thing is a pretty great option for making a custom and I can't wait to see what all people do with it. We've already seen Xaviercal do an amazing Toxitron with the legit Battle Tanker.

dont waste your time guys - the company has already said they will make a scourge version of the ko battle tanker

its the same company who made the ko city commanders who make these things so obviously repaints are a no brainer

Ignoring my disdain for KO third-party armor sets in general, there are number of reasons why saying don't bother, they're already planning to do this, doesn't work.

1. Not everyone is that patient. I've seen quite few customizers tackle future planned repaints/retools that are already said to be in the works.

2. The extent of a repaint of the Battle Tanker would, at minimal, be a fairly small task of turning a few small parts black. Just get me a small can of black spray paint and there you go. If you wanna be a detail nut then it may take a bit more, but overall I believe the difference would be stunningly minimal.

3. Some pessimistic minds may not believe those plans would come to fruition, especially given what was stated in the points above.

All and all though, I could care less either way. Much as a classic-ized version of CR Black Convoy/RID Scourge would be, I tend to find the original somewhat more satisfying for it's size, plus the only figures out of that series I would want to see redone are the Combatrons/Commandos, since most of the figures out of that series were quite decent.

theres blue/silver on scourge so unless your good at pannel linning....

also since theres a botcon version of G2 classics prime now it wouldnt suprise me at all if they made a ko version for that too

were not gona see the repaint for awhile anyways as there busy on the ko protector right now getting the proto finished up

I refer primarily to the tanker itself as I say this, as I am aware the base figure would require a load of work to repaint(arguably marginally less if you had the United version), but let's have a look.
Image
Image
Gauntlets need only be turned black, no detail work needed.
Head would need some detail work, but not too much more than it already had.
Pelvis... negligible, G2 Prime didn't have a black crotch piece either.
Boots, just turn the blue bits black.

But really that's all that would be needed from the battle tanker itself... 30 minutes of work, tops. I suppose they could go the extra mile and add chrome to the trailer itself, but at KO quality I don't imagine it being that worthwhile.

It actually is really easy. There are no real panel lines that need to be done, just a bit of teal on the shins. Hell, even the parts that need to be chromed on the tanker disconnect from everything that don't end up shiny. The real fun is painting the Optimus to match it. I have a few other tricks I'm planning but I will eventually sell it. Making them is always more fun than having them!

The KO is really good quality so believe me, it's worthwhile to make it chrome. And 30 minutes? For just the arms and feet but to do it well and to make it last? And that Optimus really doesn't come apart easily. That torso is nothing but pins blocking screws.

I am not referring to the base figure itself, I am well aware what an issue it would be to repaint, that's NOT what I'm talking about!

To clarify, the plastic is not what I'm worried on the KO Battle Tanker, I meant the chrome paint. In my experience KO companies generally don't do good paint, and knock offs with chrome are some of the worst offenders. Like I said it's not necessary though, chrome to me is little more than a happy bonus, and far from needed to get the base feel of an updated Scourge, just the fact that he's black.

I thought that you were saying that you thought the plastic quality was so bad that it wasn't worth painting. I'm using an spray krylon so I'm not worried but if the KO Black Battle set is as good quality overall as the regular, it should be fine.
