Maketoys Battle Tanker KO

Saw this post on the Maketoys site. Google translate isn't the greatest but the gist is that there are KOs out there and you're better off purchasing from a well-known store than random eBay sellers:

From a copy of the "tanker upgrade" our product has been confirmed.
Our product is recommended that you buy at the store handling, but not limited to "upgrade tanker." If you do not have Purchase history to place of purchase does not correspond to if there was a defect in the product, such as failure and the initial response in such a case of "heads Rehabilitation" Since we have been corresponding through a dealer all . Please note that if you purchased from a location that is not the root of including regular auctions, because these could potentially copy goods.

Buyer beware!

I thought this was old news? I ordered one for $35 plus shipping two weeks ago for a custom RiD Scourge. I'm looking at an additional set on Shapeways to make it taller. I'll do a little review here before I paint it up. I don't have the original to compare it to but I 'll be honest if it's a piece of crap.

They got this out pretty quick. The original isn't even sold out yet, is it?

I'm curious to know how good / poopy it is.

Maketoys have updated their site with news regarding their Battle Tanker trailer for RTS G2 Optimus Prime, it has been KOed.
This confirms the rumours that have been flung around for the past few weeks. So if you're interested in buying a genuine Battle Tanker, be wary of ebay listings especially those that look too good to be true and seek out vendors you trust.

You can click here to view a google translated version of their site or read the translated version here.

Yea, it's pretty old news, I knew about this for some time, these were apparently started before the original was relased!
But this is the only way to post it without linking to a store.

I found it on eBay but looking up Maketoys Tanker with it set to cheapest first. I got the last one that was available from that seller at the time. I'll post pics of it when I get it.

have any pictures shown up of the actual Ko itself?

i MEGA want a ko version if the quality is decent. i think its insane to pay 90+ for a trailer which makes g2 classics prime slightly taller and gives him lots of kibble

This is just getting stupid. Maketoys put a lot of work into this thing and it is one of their premier efforts... and well before it is even sold out, some jackarse is already KO'ing it? I really hope that the KO is a piece of crap. Otherwise, everyone's just going to flock to the KO, Maketoys isn't going to be able to get a proper return on their investment, and we might just see the end of a promising new third party developer.

I don't like KO's. But at least with Hasbro, they're big enough that they probably don't get hurt by them too much... And with something like Fansproject's City Commander, at least the original sets were much more scarse (if not sold out completely) before KO's started showing up much. But this, such a fast KO of a product from a relitively new company still looking to establish itself... That is just such a dick move.

if its a decent price and decent quality then i could care less to be honest... i WANT to buy the offical maketoys battle tanker but £90 is ALOT for something i will display on my shelf and hardly ever touch

£40 seems at least reasonable if the quality is ok

I'm with Yotsuyasan on this. Quite frankly seeing a knock-off of a third party transformer item has to be one of the most crass things I've ever heard. And to have one this quickly is just plain horrible given that Maketoys started with this set. I may not think dropping 100 bucks on the official set is the most worthwhile thing I could do with my money, but I'm not about to go after a cheap replication just to save a few bob... I take advantage of the BBTS sale instead.

so are these out? Is there any way to tell them apart? I know the pic is hot pink, but I have to imagine there'd be little point in that and the actual KO will come with he proper colours, or a close approximation. I could see an all-black one doing fairly well with people who can't wait on Hasbro getting around to doing a proper Scourge.

why would i pay andy £70 when i can get the ko for £45 with free postage from other sites?

only reason andy has even lowered the price on this now is coz he knows everyone will buy the ko

Jury's out on the KO until we hear something about quality.

I'm perfectly fine with paying full price for a quality product. It's all well and good if it looks nice in photos but if it's total crap in-hand it's a waste of money completely. And, from what I gather from that garbled babelfish translation, it looks like they KOed the original, Prime-destroying head, and not the head that actually worked.

But jury's out until someone gives it a whirl.

Nope, it's an Easter Special.

I didn't order one because I want a Battle Tanker, though I do want one. I ordered it because I want to make a RiD Scourge out of one and a $50 KO was the better option over destroying an original. I don't care if it's red because the first hing I'm going to do is spray it with black primer anyway. Well, after a little quality review of it. I doubt it'll be worth even using as a Tanker set. I'm just hoping it isn't that waxy cheap plastic.

I also want someone to KO the Protector set for a couple of custom ideas I have. It's not that I don't love the Protector set, I really do, I just don't want to destroy it to make what I want.

He sometimes posts on facebook special deals, and this one was posted as an easter special, it is also cheaper than getting it from the US, unless you're talking about the KO, or someone trying to pass it off as an original. Plus it'S here faster than from the US and there is no threat of inflated taxes on top of it to make it even more expensive.

scourge custom and the extra weapons do make it appealing to me. wouldn't mind another one of those awesome big ass swords, even if it doesn't light up (not having to be attached to the battery pack would be very welcome.

I haven't done any TF customising, but RID Scourge isn't too taxing now is it? especially if I only want him in robot mode. that said...I've got plenty of other things I want to buy, so unless it turns up somewhere I usually buy from, I may well pass.
