They really are pretty big, aren't they? Almost the size of the new Voyagers.

It is a time-consuming and scary process transforming them for the first time, but it realy is fun and rewarding. Best 2 hours I've had recently!

Just got mine yesterday. It's so magnificent I can hardly stand it. The quality is higher than I expected, the engineering is great, and the whole set looks great in every mode.

It's sort of a shame this will forever be compared with Hercules. I don't have Herc, so I can't compare the two. But I think that in an alternate reality in which Hercules had never come out, fandom would have collectively fallen over itself to heap praise on MakeToys and declare it the new undisputed king of the 3rd party toymakers. I think this really sets a new standard.

I've had Hercules, and it's either you like the "classics" styled Hercules, that matches the more blocky designs of classics, or you like the more detailed "MP" style of Giant.

Other then that, they are two fraktastically amazing creations, the world will forever cave under their feet...

Until they see Uranus!

I don't own Hercules but I've seen it in person and I MUCH prefer the look of Giant. Hercules is cool but almost more Unicron Trilogy to me. Giant goes a lot better with the Fansproject offerings, and while both companies aesthetics are maybe a little too modern compared to Hasbro's figures, I feel they look better overall.

In my mind Maketoys is still an offshoot of Fansproject anyway, so they can share the crown. >:oP

Oh, to those who may have not read all the way back in the thread, be VERY careful when inserting/removing the screwdriver handles from Long Haul's bucket. It's a really tight fit. I didn't break mine but I stressed one of the handles.

Had to pop mine out from the other side using a dull pencil. Learned my lesson from Thundershred's blades...

Dull pencil, good idea! I used a small key but was worried about the key causing damage itself.

I look forward to writing up a review of this guy, but first need to finish the series of Optimus Prime reviews I recently started... Something to look forward to, I suppose. But my innitial impression, to reiterate, it that it is awesome.

I love my girlfriend. One of her first questions was, "Is that to scale?"

But as we all know, since when has Devastator ever worried about scale?

I don't quite follow you, unless you're just making a very exagerated effort in pointing out my slight accidental misspelling of the name? Which doesn't seem very constructive, so I'd like to think there was some other point that I am missing...

When Devastator is not himself, then scale matters.

So I was taking photos of Masterpiece Optimus Prime (the MP-01/04 mold) for a review I'm working on when, in a complete disreguard for scale, Optimus decided to show that there were no hard feelings for the last photo I shared where Devastator was trying to rip him apart.

See? Now they're friends!

Huzzah! My Giant finally arrived yesterday. Very pleased with how well the whole combiner holds together. My one issue is with the way that the cabin half of hook gets pulled apart slightly by the weight of right arm. A minor gripe really. Overall I am very pleased!

Oooh, THS-02 does scale very nicely with him. I suspected he would, and would have used him myself in the earlier photo I shared, except then (a) Optimus wouldn't have scaled well with Jazz and Trailbreaker, and (b) my THS-02 is currently in truck mode, and I really didn't feel like transforming him. :P I may have to when I get around to writing my review of Giant... Of course, I do have a review of THS-02 planned before I get aroud to Giant, so the thought occurs to me that I can just leave him in bot-mode after I photograph him for that. Excellent!

In the meantime, here is Giant menasing a cheesecake my girlfriend baked yesterday.

Why? Because it should taste devastatingly good!

I'm not on Term Giant as well. He's definately one awosme Non-Transformer! I don't think he's perfect, but he's damn close. He's going to sit on my desk for a while.

Pretty much all of the photos people have been posting since getting this guy (myself included) have been of the combined mode. Well, I was finally curious to see how these guys looked, as seperate guys, with some of the other Classics 'Cons I had. Since before my Giant had arrived, I'd had many of my other guys in their alt mode... so I finally transformed some of them into robot mode so they could all pose together. And I thought I'd share the resulting photo with y'all.

Shockingly... I'm slightly disappointed with the individual bots. They look great and all, but they're just a LOT bigger than what I was actually hoping for... they all just tower over every deluxe in my collection. I can't imagine if I had bought Herc. Haven't seen anyone else complain about their size, so maybe I'm the only one who sees this as an issue... it's a minor nitpick though & overall I'm beyond pleased with the set.

I am amused by your post, since a common complaint by (often pro-Hercules) people seems to be, "But Giant is so small!" And here you are saying that they're too big for you (although you do say it is only a minor nitpick).

I will agree that I was surprised at the size of these guys when I got them. Based on all of the people bitching about small size, I was expecting something much smaller, maybe closer to Scout size. So it was nice to find them to actually be the size of large Deluxes, and I have to agree that (in my opinion, at least) Hercules's individual bots would look much too large when put with other figures.

Just got Giant in the mail a few days ago and love him. He's not perfect - the forearms are way too small (the elbow joint is not int he right place) and his body is very thick and rectangular.

Still, he gets so very much right.

I'm in the middle of reviewing my Giant, and so far have reviewed 3 of the 6 individual figures, you can see the reviews (plus my site redesign, yay!) below.

http://teletraan2.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Bonecrusher
http://teletraan2.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Scavenger
http://teletraan2.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Mixmaster

My general feeling is that some of the figures are unnecessarily 'gappy' - they almost feel stretched out. If they were slightly shorter as bots then perhaps they would look more cohesive. So I kind of agree that maybe they are a wee bit too tall. But, the general awesomeness of the set massively outweighs any niggles I have had thus far.

So how come no one is going nuts making upgrades for this thing like they did Herc?

A few things I think would be fun, though completely unnecessary:
-something to fill the gap in Wheel Loader's leg-mode
-cone-shaped drill arm attachment
-robotic brain for inside Giant's head
-better articulated hands

Because Giant is pretty awesome the way he is, and doesn't need a bunch of extra stuff to fix him? :P

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few things for Giant eventually... but my innitial comment is only partially tounge and cheek. Heck, TFC themselves had to make an upgrade kit to improve Herc.
