Got my set and finally had a chance to mess with it yesterday. Build and paint quality are awesome for these figures-no surprises there. The gestalt was a little fiddly at first but once I got him squared up and messed with him a bit, I must say that I'm VERY impressed. Not many faults and lots to like!

And lastly, I'm liking the rage head. It's not perfect and I expect better from other third parties, but it's a nice add-on and alternative to the standard head.

Bring on Computron I say!!!

I don't have him, but I'll put my educated guess in at ~11".

Good guess. 11 inches to the head, 12.5 to the tip of the shoulder.

How many of you have both sets or plan on getting both? I've heard with some of the minor improvements done for the green set it would make sense to me to have them combined and the yellow set as individual robots. Anyone else doing this or vice versa? :VEHI:

I have both sets, although I haven't opened the green one yet. I think I'll keep them both in gestalt mode, but we'll see.

I've got both sets, but haven't had a chance to open Green Giant yet. I am interested in doing just what you describe, but haven't yet decided which set stays individual and which goes full gestalt - even with the improvements to Greenie, I think it's oging to be a personal choice for anyone who will have both sets.

I just got my Giant yesterday and spent 2 hours just getting him out of the box, combined, and transforming him from combined to vehicle mode. Awesome so far.

I have a couple questions. Sorry if these have been answered already but I don't have time to read the whole thread right now.

What's the official storage for Bulldozer and Excavators' weapons in vehicle mode? I currently have them pegged onto their sides, but it doesn't seem quite right. I figured out every one else's (Dump Truck's is AWESOME), but the instruction book doesn't really go though weapon storage and I had to guess from pictures.

Also, what's with the rectangular pegs on the sides of the arms/generators? I'm guessing a couple of the weapons will peg there, but I'm not sure why. It would be super awesome if the weapons could form fuel tanks for the generators or something, but I doubt that's the case.

One more! Is it possible to switch faces in the helmets? I like the extendable transparent visor but I'm not really big on the rage face. Mainly the toothy Leno scowl is bugging me a bit.

I am led to believe that yes, the two faces are interchangeable between the two different heads. TJDuckett's video review mentioned it, and I've seen the new head with both grandpa face and normal faces.

Hmm. The faces on mine seem really tight in the helmets... I'd hate to break anything, I may just leave them how they are.

Paul053 mentioned in his review (below) that the faces were switchable. I'm not sure if he actually tried it, though.

Pegged onto the sides is the official method. What you see is what you get. Does it in the yellow set, as well.

I'm assuming you're talking about the thin tabs on the sides. Those tabs fit into the thin slots on the sides of Mixmaster's drum. They form rocket packs for him. Also, there's a flip down visor on Mixmaster, it reveals rockets like the G1 toy.

The square pegs on the back of the generators (where Devastator's hands flip out), can take those pistons from Long Haul and become jackhammers. The gray handles swing out for the figures to use them as jackhammers. In Devastator mode, the hands can flip in and you can attach the pistons to his forearms, but turn the silver pieces around, one's a Philip's head screwdriver, the other's a flat head. He can use them as weapons.

Thanks for the answers! I knew about the jackhammer thing and the rockets under the visor on Mixmaster, but the rocket packs are definitely news to me. I was wondering about those slots on the side of Mixmaster's drum.

No prob. I can't remember if that tidbit was in the instructions (yellow's the prototype) or on a photo blog...

Also, Devastator's chest shield/Long Haul's exhaust pipes, also doubles as a handheld shield. Long Laul can't hold it, unfortunately. Mixmaster and the others can.

His rifle, the shield, the rocket packs and his visor? AWESOME looking robot of death.
Also, on Scrapper and Mixmaster, there's buttons. Those will extend their vehicle modes for Devastator. Gives the ankles a bit more range. (Makes him taller, too, of course.)

Mixmaster's are on the sides near the front of his drum. Scrapper's is singular and it's just below the silver piston. (Look closely, can't miss it.)

Nice, I should try that with Mixmaster. 8) I did notice the chest shield forms a hand shield, found that out while trying to figure out weapon storage. Long Haul can sort of hold it, but only at an angle because of his huge fists. I think the extending joints were already extended the way he came in the box, because I noticed Mixmaster's, but not Scrapper's... will have to investigate further. I still haven't had a chance to re-combine them!

Just realised that I have been moaning about the lateness of Giant on the KO thread. so who knows what's going on? All I get from Kapow is that Maketoys are having 'issues', and no concrete information on when they will be getting their stock. Which sucks, obviously. I paid up front in full, too.

Does anyone have any more information regarding this?

TFsource said on FBI that MT only shipped out a small batch this round.
I'm guessing Kapow just might have to deal with long customs delays, as TFsource had a 10
Day hold in their shipment.

Next batch isn't due until late Dec.

The place I got mine from (Metropolis Comics and Toys) said the delay was due to some QC issues Maketoys noticed in the set and they had to reopen them all to correct it before shipping to the retailer. On top of that they probably only have limited manufacturing capacity so they might be having trouble keeping up with demand.

I actually feel sorry for Maketoys, they really aren't having much luck. I can wait for a great toy like this if I have to. Oh well, at least a bunch of opportunistic criminal a**holes haven't stolen their moulds and flooded the market with knockoffs... oh. #-o

seriously, I hope those guys get herpes.

I agree with your tiny, tiny lettering.

'Tis a bummer if I'll have to wait longer. (I preordered it a bit on the later side, so if TFSource only got in a small shipment recently, I'd not be surprised if I have to wait until their next shipment.) But on the plus side, since I had a few other big purchases recently, it will be more time to recover. Must keep that glass half full!

LOL. BTW was going to ask you, no reviews in September. WTF man? Have you run out of stuff to review or is that thing called 'real life' getting in the way :P

Personally, I'm really itching to review Giant, but will try to stay patient >:oP

Nice to know I was missed! Yeah, I feel bad about that. 'Twas a real life getting in the way thing. I was hoping to get a review up last weekend so that I could at least get one in September, but didn't quite get it finished. I at least took all of the photos I need for it, so hopefully I'll have it written sometime this week. To wet your appitite, I'm going G1 Prime! That will be followed (in no particular order) by Smallest Transforming Prime, Hybrid Series G1 Prime, and MP-04, then hopefully by the time I'm through all of those I'll have gotten my TRU MP-10. :)

Of course... When I checked my e-mail just now, I had one informing me that something had shipped... So, so much for recovery... but I suppose that is something else I've got to look forward to reviewing. I anticipate splitting it up into four articles when I get to it, three that are for pairs of the individual parts, and one final article looking at the combined mode and then offering final thoughts.

So... Alas, disapeared for a bit. But hopefully I'll be able to get things back on track, 'cause I certainly have a bunch of things (with a nice mix of oldies but goodies and exciting new stuff) to talk about!

And I shall also look forward to your thoughts on the big green guy, as well.
