The Next Citybot will be Pandinus! The Pandinus is under development and we are revealing some of the conceptual sketches. The initial idea was to develop a bulky and muscular character that can transform into a giant scorpion and a ruined city. It features a pair of giant claw-like arms and a huge scorpion stinger. Further information on gimmicks and an alternate mode will be announced later.

The Scorpion mode is shown below. It shares the same claws and stinger with its robot mode. Other gimmicks are still under development.

looks good. maybe a bit movie-ish for me though. Perfect Effect's version will probably be my Scorp of choice, because I imagine it'll look better with Warden and the FP Headmasters.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

Beefy. The chest/abs area looks a lot like PE. I wonder if this will be a headmaster. Alas, I'm pretty sure this is going to be priced out of my comfort zone. Plus, I like the Energon mold I currently have.

Still, MakeToys produces some beautiful products. I will enjoy watching this one come to fruition!

This might be nice, but its gonna suck if they make it a small as their metroplex. Make it nice and big like Hasbro metroplex so it can go with classics. Unless its really G1, ill probably stick with the botcon version. Im not interested in the PE version, as its too small and probably turns into a tank. Maketoys does do good stuff. Just a bit too small in some cases.

Make it the size of Hasbro's Metroplex? I know you don't care about cost, but that'd be a lot to swallow.

Well, there's no rush to choose, unless it's for Hasbro's. I want to see more of both this and PE's.

I suppose this means Maketoys is making a Metroplex as well eventually.

Their Metroplex has been know for a while:

I'm sure they announced this as a counter to PE's Scorponok announcement.

Yeah maketoys is making a tiny metroplex called utopia. It looks good but its as small as the G1 toy so its really a stand alone piece if you care about cartoon scale like I do. I was always under the impression that scorponok, fort max, trypticon, and metroplex were all roughly the same size by G1 cartoon standards. I always hated that the G1 toy scorponok was so tiny compared to the G1 fort max. They are both supposed to be the same size so they can go head on like in the cartoon. Another G1 toy scale failure which is why I detest vintage toy scale and prefer the cartoon scale. I dont want to see the 3rd parties make the same mistake. Its true I dont care about cost. But wouldnt you agree Hasbroplex set the standard for city bots in classics scale ? There was a rumor Hasbro was going to retool metroplex into fort max, so the last thing we need is a shrunken scorponok repeating G1 toy scale all over again.

I also like Hasbro's Metroplex size, but you do realize that may run up to over a thousand dollars or, more likely, more, right? Exactly how much are you willing to spend on one of these things?

Think The Aesthethic on MT Scorponok looks a bit similar to Revenge of the Fallen Ultimate Devastators toy.

Just because HasTak created a Two foot tall city bot. Doesn't mean this should be the new toy scale for all newer city bot toys. I'd still accept and buy newer city bot toys at the Leader and Supreme scales.

Creating Two foot tall 3rd party city bots is not a good idea. Due to the exspensive price tag on the toy. Wouldn't mind Hasbro doing more in this 2 foot scale as the toy in the States will only cost $100 to $120.

City bots toys don't need to be the same toy scale to each other. Since they were all different scales in the Generation One toy line, Comics and cartoons.

My top dollar would be 400. Anything more would be a fail profit wise for maketoys. What puzzles me is how many people would drop 1000 or more for frenzy/rumble to throw together a bunch of junk parts and paint it. But nobody wants to drop over 300 on a real deal version of the same fharacter. Im not saying you particularly, im just speaking in general.

Well ... how many is that exactly? Surely not as many as people who'd buy 3rd party products in general. After all, customizers take one toy at a time and a lot of time to nail it down.

Plus, consider: they get their say on details. A customiser can make a paintjob exactly as the customer wants. That can't be said of a 3rd party company.

Well, anyway, Giant alone cost about $400 and he's nowhere as tall as Titan class. A 3rd party titan class robot, with all the detail and complexity we've come to expect from 3rd party companies, could easily be over $1000.

:BANG_HEAD: No,You are wrong on all accounts. Please at least attempt to try to do some research. Its not hard in this internet age. You now have free options of reading Wiki pages or watching older cartoons on you tube. :-?

:BANG_HEAD: No, The city bots in Generation One Twenty Five plus years ago were not made in the same scale.

In the Marvel TF Comics Fortress Maximus and Scorponok were both drawn a tiny smidgen bit bigger than Average. There are comic issues showing Scorponok and Shockwave drawn in the same scale fighting each other. There is a issue that shows King Leader Grimlock and fort max drawn in the same scale fighting each other. Trypticon in issue #27 was the city bot drawn than the biggest in the comics. Metroplex was never in the US Marvel TF comics.

In the 1985 to 1987 Transformers cartoon series. Omega Supreme the first base city bot was shown the same scale as Devastator. Rebirth didn't have Metroplex or Trypticon in the Episodes scenes. The Japanese Headmasters cartoon series shows Fortress Maximus and Scorponok a much bigger Massive scale compared to Metroplex and Trypticon.

The 1985 to 1987 Transformers toy lines had all the city and base bots in different toy scales.

I always felt todays customs are tomorrows 3rd party figures. Im sure all those guys who dropped 1000 on an articulated chopped up G1 predaking are kicking themselves in the ass. And then theres the custom painted omega supreme that hasbro ended up doing anyways for 99 bucks. What a joke lol. Besides I hate chipped paint and rubbing. I think once you hit the 500 dollar mark on 3rd party items, youre paying for the design, not the actual amount of plastic used. TFC can justify a 600 price by splitting up a combiner and giving you one limb every other month for the people who gotta have it first. But when it comes down to a single purchase, every 3rd party knows not to shoot for a higher pricr. Warbotron is a good example of more plastic for less money compared to other TFC and MMC combiners. Too bad nobody wanted the size increase though...

I can't wait to see this guy in plastic. I think MT's offering will tower over Perfect effects and BotCon's as it is being marketed in their city series line. As it stands, I'm in for all three companies. I may wait for MakeToys to recolor this as Black Zarak though. The BotCon one will tide me over until Perfect Effect releases theirs. I think PE's will be highly superior in articulation and in the headmaster gimmick department(as it should being a new figure and all.) Then MakeToys will provide me with a bigger scorpion transformer with a slightly different design to capture Black Zarak as he was in SGMF. Ah, in a perfect world.... =P~

That is my hope though.

Looks neat - very hulkish, if that makes sense. But I'm looking for something that will fit in with Warden and the FP Headmasters, so I doubt this will be for me.

A bit of an unusual step from Maketoys, usually they don't announce something until they've got something in plastic to show off. Granted we've had the tease from Perfect Effect about their Scorponok but the disappointing thing about both reveals is we really haven't seen all that much.
Are they really competing with each other though?

Makestoys is saying this toy is Fourteen inches tall in robot mode.

Love that MT is making this big toy. As their 3rd party prices are cheaper than some. If it's priced around $250 or less, I'd consider buying it

I don't think so.

PerfectEffect's Scorponok aims at mimicking the rivalry between him and their Fort Max that we G1ers liked so much, but they're doing it in a scale that makes sense within the modern scale as depicted by IDW.

MakeToys's Scorponok is going to recreate the hulking citycon that existed in G1. Will there be a similarly scale Fort Max coming from them? I would think so.

Bingo.

Own the entire TF Marvel G-1 and G-2 comics collection. I'd love a PE Scorponok that is Nine to Ten inches tall from head to toe in robot mode. So it can be in scale with MP-10, MP Grimlock, MP Soundwave. Also love for this to be in scale with all the Leader scale toys from Rid, AEC, Movie verse, TFA and TFP-BH.

Best part about a 3rd party Scorponok being around Nine to Ten inches tall. Is the 3rd party price will not be that exspensive. Although I am a bit worried that PE is releasing this toy. Their PE Fort Max was Voyager Size and it had a exspensive price tag of $150. Some say the the $150 price was high due to the oversized gun it came with.

PE Scorponok is going to scale nicely next to the 2004 Cybertron Leader Scale Metroplex toy.

The price tag on Warden was not expensive for what you got. I kept the stand, large cannon, tank treads & missle pods in the box. It still feels like a $150 figure when I pick it up. The only thing that Warden can really be compared to properly for cost:quality is Soul Of Chogokin stuff. He is miles ahead of 3P stuff in my opinion.

If it isn't a huge city bot I might as well stick with Botcon Scorponok that I already paid for. While I enjoy my Stronghold figure, Ive had enough of "Fort Max". It's time to bring back the real Fortress Maximus G1 style. I hope Maketoys pulls it off.
