I don't think so.

PerfectEffect's Scorponok aims at mimicking the rivalry between him and their Fort Max that we G1ers liked so much, but they're doing it in a scale that makes sense within the modern scale as depicted by IDW.

MakeToys's Scorponok is going to recreate the hulking citycon that existed in G1. Will there be a similarly scale Fort Max coming from them? I would think so.

If it isn't a huge city bot I might as well stick with Botcon Scorponok that I already paid for. While I enjoy my Stronghold figure, Ive had enough of "Fort Max". It's time to bring back the real Fortress Maximus G1 style. I hope Maketoys pulls it off.

Don't think 3rd parties will create any Two foot tall city bots. Import sites orders will be too low to satisfy the factory order demand.

What about BTS Nova Lord ? It may not be 2 feet tall but I assume it's up there like a foot and a half. (BBTS says 16 inches) And $250 isnt a bad price for a city former that scales with classics. I need to see some color test shots though before I commit.

Im thinking more like $300. All Im saying is that BTS proved that it can be done for under $300.

BTS hasn't made a name for itself based on it's quality. It's a poor example.

Doubting Thomas still thinks $300 is still a unrealsitic low price for this. $400 plus is what i'm guessing a figure like this will cost.

How much could it possibly cost ? Everyone here seems to think its going to be combiner priced. But its NOT a combiner. They cant release it in pieces as an excuse to jack up the price. And dont expect an engineering marvel either. The head comes off. The arms flip up and the legs fold up somehow to form the scorpions butt. We arent talking combiner engineering here.

Is it possible that it'll have a city mode? Wouldn't that make it on par with MT's not-Metroplex? Isn't that going to be in the $400 range?

I agree with the good Doctor, but my motivation comes from wishes that these things will be cheaper. We'll have to see.

It is a part of the city series MakeToys is doing so I'm assuming that it will have a base/city mode.

I think maketoys is putting all their eggs in one basket by doing a city series. Getting off scorponok for a second, lets talk trypticon. I think most fans would want a trypticon that scales with their Hasbroplex. But if it looks good people might buy a smaller out of scale trypticon just because it exists. The itch to have both classic rivals the same scale might help sell their smaller metroplex. But it might also backfire on maketoys and cause less people to buy their trypticon. Lets face it, alot of collectors are on the cheap side (no offense to anyone) so they might skip the whole line altogether because they cant buy them all. So maketoys is undertaking a risky venture with out of scale city bots. I myself might pass on them as well in hopes that it wakes up a sleeping giant in Hasbro.

I don't think Maketoys is making a mistake making citybots. How is that putting all their eggs in one basket? They made Gears and Swerve and are also producing Computron. Lots of diversity there.

I think fans have proven the opposite of being cheap. I think we've proven we're stupid with out money. That's why we're getting all the amazing and amazingly expensive things we're getting. Plus if MT is doing a citybot series I can see that nudging fans into buying into it even more. As fans we want sets. Not just one one-off guy, but a rival or the group he's associated with.

We don't really know if Hasbro will do another Titan class citybot. I bet we'll see Metrotitan before Tripticon. And even then there's no telling whether they'll make a good Trypticon.

I can't see a mass release of Metrotitan. Maybe they'll do a small run, online exclusive similar to 25th Anniversary Unicron or G2 Bruticus. Who knows.

I say that because MT Metroplex scales with nothing. It's basically a stand alone figure. Why commit to a line of these city bots until they have tested the waters with the 1st release ?

This whole city bot scale thing is more absurd than the usual scale argument that has gotten old in and of itself. No existing Metroplex, nor any that will ever exist, is even remotely close to scale to anything. 2 feet, 14 inches, same thing. It would be awesome if I could read these posts without this same conversation in every one. I can't wait to see this topic surface again if/when we get another Unicron.

Hasbroplex scales very well with legends figures and is big enough to look cool in a classics collection. MT version not so much. And sometimes you can beat a dead horses body so hard that it comes back to life. Third party guys do read fan sites sometimes for feedback. Take Kronos for example. How many horses died in the process of getting where he is at now ?

Actually, I think it is the instructions on shampoo, though the shampoo instructions are in reverse. I believe it is: wash, rinse, repeat, though Phoebe sings it is "Lather rinse repeat, lather rinse repeat, lather rinse repeat, as needed." (And Tegrin spelled backwards is Nirget.)

Back to the topic at hand... This could indeed be really cool. I haven't seen enough pics of MT's Metroplex, but if these could be used with the legends figures, they could be really fun. But then, we need some legends headmasters to go with Scorponok, methinks...

If its roughly the same height as G1 metroplex as some have suggested, it wont scale properly for my classics tastes. Maybe yours, but not mine. And I dont need comparison shots to picture it in my head based on figures I own around that size. Unicron is a real grey area. But im not gonna lie an upsized version of the hasbro mold would be awesome...even a KO without the gimmicks.

We have people guessing it'll be the size of G1 Metroplex. Guessing. Without comparison pictures we really don't know. It's much too early to say he doesn't fit. Maybe not for you, I guess, but I'll need pictures. Numbers without context aren't too helpful.
