these are the Protectobots.
you mean you want to cross scramble the MT Technobots and Protectobots? I'm not sure I'd even bother, but I'd certainly not complain if it were possible.

I cancelled out of the TFC not-Protectobots a while back (though I'm still totally getting their not-Groove just because that alt mode rocks) so there's still a Defensor sized hole on my shelves waiting to be filled. If the combined mode for these guys looks good (and they get the frickin' chest right, unlike some of their OTHER recent efforts ) then I'll probably bite, especially if they do them in a gift set so that I don't have to wait forever with a half-combiner sitting around collecting dust forever and by the time I complete him I'm way less excited about him than I was when I got the first figure (yes, I really resent having to wait a year or more just to finish 1 figure like that, especially if I'm forced to buy the first one or so before I've even seen the final version (including paint apps etc.) of the combined form just to avoid the first limb or so being sold out everywhere).
That ^ was one hell of a run-on sentence, top that .

I'll reserve judgement until I see what the MT version does with the hands and feet (The thing that annoys me about TFC's ProtectoNots is the fact that the feet basically do bugger-all outside of combined mode).
One thing that does annoy me about the MakeToys version is Groove. He shouldn't be a motorcycle. It's just silly, even by the already-ludicrous standards of scale in Transformers. There's a motorbike the size of a helicopter, goddamnit! That's just dumb! I much preferred TFC's Groove, with his Cybertronian cycle-car thing mode. I don't care if it's GEEWUN accurate- the G1 version got it wrong.

Well, to be fair, TFC's is not really based on Cybertronian tech... I believe it's based on the Dodge Tomahawk concept bike, that had the Viper V10 motor in it.
Which, by the way, I find to be completely insane!! Technically, it's a 4 wheeler as the front and rear wheels split when banking to maintain stability. It's a fascinating piece of technology.

my scale hangups aside, this all looks amazing so far. but as others have said, wheres the lights on streewise? (who totally looks like the sixth member of intimidator btw)
TheGrognard wrote:I think these guys are going to be the same size as Giant/M3/Quantron as a gestalt.
The reason they are a different height than the M3/Quantron bots is that they're using an alternate method for the elbows rather than the hip/knee method of M3/Quantron.
In Green Giant, the arms were discrete units, remember? Between the combiner joint/upper arm being essentially the backpack of the two armbots, and the entire forearm being the off-bot kibble, there wasn't a lot of stuff tying the armbots to a specific size. With M3/Quantron, the arms are totally self contained in the bots (besides the hands) but this means there's scale issues to worry about, since the bots are basically going to be the entire length of the arm units. Since the legs of the arm bots are totally unfurled in arm mode, the arm bots are going to be kind of shrimpy compared to the torso bot.
With Guardia, I don't think they're going that route. They're going the MMC Predacons route, where they are basically using an ab crunch and the hips for the elbow. Because the arm bots are less extended, they can be a bit taller in robot mode.
So that's why the Guardia dudes are the same size as the Green Giant bots, but Guardia will still scale with M3/Quanton.
I hope that explains it... it makes sense to me in my mind but mebbe I didn't write it well.
