Marvel Universe Figures?

So, I was checking these guys out the other day, and they look pretty neat. Now, I don't own any yet, and I was debating if I wanted to. As I would then want to get many of them in the same size. So, it'd be a commitment to a bigger over all collection over time.
I've been trying to find a place that's got pictures, at least, really organized. By wave, or something. I see some sporadic reviews, I was hoping for something more comprehensive. Maybe seibertron spoils me. Trying to figure out which ones good or not. Before I just go out and buy the first spider-man or ironman I see, as there's many versions.
How do these guys feel too?
If anyone has some of these, it'd be good to know how they are before I dabble too much into them.

Not too big on this line, but MWC does some pretty good reviews. Some of the Marvel Uni ones are centerstage;

for those interested, I was tipped off to this site

which has pretty much what I was looking for.
Seems to be the closest I'll get to a marvel universe figures version of seibertron.

I own several MU figures and I enjoy them. I will say, though, that they are often not quite worth the MSRP. My main issue with the toys is that the vast majority of them have ineffective ankle joints. They're often just swivel or single point hinge or even a combination of both. However, without some sort of pivot joint for "rocker ankle" motion, they are unable to stand securely without a display stand or they can only stand well in very limited leg positions.

Now that being said, rocker ankle joints are slowly being implemented into the MU line. The first example I saw of this was in the WWII Ultimates Captain America figure, the SDCC exclusive figure. Then the Bleeding Edge Iron Man in wave 12. I believe wave 13 has more figures with ankle rockers(Cable, Cyclops, Apocalypse). Namor and possibly X-23 from wave 15 look like they have rocker ankles too.

Ankle joint rant over.

The figures feel like they're made out of a more malleable plastic. Perhaps a denser formulation of PVC. That isn't a bad thing but you will find from time to time that parts of the toys are warped in the package so you'll have to reshape them using the hot/cold method.

The figure sculpts are often quite impressive considering they're at 3.75" scale. Paint application is normally pretty good too and the accessories are often nice.

I do recommend the MU line but not without considering their somewhat high price and my own personal criticism of the ankle design in most of the toys.

You're not the only person I've heard complain about the ankle/standing issue. Thanks for the review.

The only one I own so far is Juggernaut. Still looking for a decent Wolverine, Colossus and Deadpool.

I don't own any yet but I am very excited that Marvel is finally going to give some love to Darkhawk. I will be getting both versions of Darkhawk for sure.

I've got lots of these, most I have kept sealed though. My favorite is the (transparant)flaming Torch. Also, Dark Wolverine is such an obscure character and his toy is very cool.
Recently picked up the Astral Strange and Mystique. I buy them retail and refuse to get them online. There are only a handful that have been released that I have never seen in person. I like them and they get addictive to buy.

I love this line! the're are alot of good figures, but a couple of stinkers to. I would say start up with 2 or 3 figures and see how you like them from the're, i can help you out when it comes to picking out which figures you should get and which you should'nt so dont stress about that ;) and if you see Apocalypse, Grab him!

Also, i highly recomend this site for MU figures, its the best one for the line

Target had a nice sale going a while back so I did pick up a few guys. Spider-man 2099, iron-spider, scarlet spider, x-men uniform wolverine, venom, hobgoblin.

Venom totally sucks, but he was free, but the lack of knee joins really sucks. I ripped out his awful tongue too, that was obscene.
The others are fine I guess. Of course I'll want a regular spider-man eventually. Though, it seems they keep making those, I'll be able to get one. Hopefully with great articulation.
My goal now is to get some of the 90's x-men guys, and villains. I'll keep an eye out for apocalypse.

Sounds good. Also since you want 90s X-men, get Cable as fast as you can caus he is an extremly rare figure. As for spiderman, the serise 1 mold is a very good and well articulated mold, but you should watch a review or 2 to see what your impresions are, i also would recomend to keep an eye out on reviews for the figs.

I saw a Cable the other day......

I like this figures alot, and I've picked up a few of them. At first I was just getting Iron Men since the Extremis armor was in this series, and then I started picking up more and more. I grabbed the modualr armor Iron Man and the Iron Spider, black costume Spiderman (to serve as Dark Reign Venom next to my) Dark Hawkeye, Dr. Doom and the Iron Patriot, Moon Knight and Apocalypse, Yellow Jacket and Green Goblin, the Target two pack with Cap and Crossbones, Capt. Britain and Union Jack, Ghost Rider and Thor, and there's probably a few others that right now I just can't recall. I like them alot, but they're clearly meant to just put on your shelf. Overall I like the quality of them, and even thoguh they feel a little light and, I don;'t want to say flimsy, but I guess flimsy, they always have seemed sturdier to me than figures from the Clone Wars line for example. If I have to list a complaint, I wish the MU figures were the same general proportions as figures from the Marvel movie lines. They are much slighter and slimmer than say, Iron Man movie figures.

You should get the comic 2-pack venom w/ dark Wolverine for this. He represents everything you are looking for and is slightly taller and beefier than spider-man. He's also gotten a purple tint to him in places

I agree, I wish they would be around the same size. I was hoping to do a head swap with the Spider-man lines Venom with the crazy tongue and put it on the one in the pic. The ball joints for the head are too different though and just aren't compatible.

I know that you know this DISCHARGE, but you are 100% correct about that Venom. That is exactly what I'm looking for. Is that comic pack available in stores, or is it like an older one that I'd have to find online? I'm interested in the Dark Wolverine as well, but he's not that important of a character to me, but I would like to field a full team of Dark Avengers. I bet he looks good.

Well if your lucky you can find it in stores, you probrably will have to get it online though, BBTS or amazon should have it for a good price. same for Iron Patriot and the Sentry pack.

Actauly you can still find the Sentry comic pack in stores you just gotta look around a little.

I've seen that one, withe Spiderman. Is there a single carded Sentry? I'd really like a Sentry but am indifferent to Spiderman.

Dagon- You should have little problems finding the 2-pack with D Wolverine and Dark Spider-Man(venom), I saw one at the local Wally World yesterday.

Also if anyone is looking for the monochrome X-Force team and finds it buy it. I recently saw them and put off buying a set for one day and the two that were there were snagged, prob by the same person(not me :( ).

Sadly no, if you want to get Sentry without spidy then your gonna have to go on ebay or make a trade with someone to get him loose.

Managed to find the Darkhawk wave at Target, so I picked up him and X-23. I can't believe they actually made a Darkhawk figure. :)

Cable was a hard figure to find. I bought him for $20 a few months ago, not a bad price at the time considering he was around $40.

I had Duane Swierczynski sign he, he did a great run of Cable comics recently. Then at Comic-Con, I had Cable creator Rob Liefeld sign it.

I picked up a Cable in the hopes that it was the one that eBays for $40, but alas, it was regular Cable. Fortunately, it's a really nice figure, so I have no complaints about owning one.

Also, last night I found Darkhawk. Darkhawk is a very cool figure.

Yes, Darkhawk is FINALLY OUT :KREMZEEK: ! I've been waiting years for them to make a Darkhawk, and overall he is a very good figure. The wings are a little iffy and you can't really pull off too many poses with them, but they are removable so it's no big loss. Darkhawk was really only ever seen with his wings spread during the classic series when he was gliding or flying, so that's ok with me. Still though, there's not much else they could have done with a 3 and 3/4 figure without sacraficing posebility unless they went with thin plastic or cloth wings similar to how 5 and 6 inch Banshees were done.

Picked up Iceman today and saw the rest of his wave(Magneto, Absorbing Man, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark Iron Man and underwear Namor).
Need more villains. Wish they would make Annihilus, Kang, High Evolutionary, Doc Ock, Carnage and throw in a Sauron. Also wish they would make some figures from the Age of Apocalypse.
