I own several MU figures and I enjoy them. I will say, though, that they are often not quite worth the MSRP. My main issue with the toys is that the vast majority of them have ineffective ankle joints. They're often just swivel or single point hinge or even a combination of both. However, without some sort of pivot joint for "rocker ankle" motion, they are unable to stand securely without a display stand or they can only stand well in very limited leg positions.
Now that being said, rocker ankle joints are slowly being implemented into the MU line. The first example I saw of this was in the WWII Ultimates Captain America figure, the SDCC exclusive figure. Then the Bleeding Edge Iron Man in wave 12. I believe wave 13 has more figures with ankle rockers(Cable, Cyclops, Apocalypse). Namor and possibly X-23 from wave 15 look like they have rocker ankles too.
Ankle joint rant over.

The figures feel like they're made out of a more malleable plastic. Perhaps a denser formulation of PVC. That isn't a bad thing but you will find from time to time that parts of the toys are warped in the package so you'll have to reshape them using the hot/cold method.
The figure sculpts are often quite impressive considering they're at 3.75" scale. Paint application is normally pretty good too and the accessories are often nice.
I do recommend the MU line but not without considering their somewhat high price and my own personal criticism of the ankle design in most of the toys.
