Masterforce Overlord's alternate "large jet" mode ... what is it?

TFWiki wrote:Overlord's instructions do not feature the additional large jet mode seen in the animated series and manga, as it (like Sixshot's "Wingwolf" mode or BlackZarak's "Dakatsu" mode) was created by the production staff after fiddling around with the toy itself. As such, it's entirely possible to put the toy in this form, although it doesn't rest evenly on a flat surface.

As many times as I've watched Masterforce, I guess I don't know what additional "large jet mode" to which tfwiki.net is referring. Most likely because I'm not that familiar with the Overlord toy other than from pictures.

Do any of you know of where there's a screen shot of this online or a picture of the toy in this alternate configuration that is not in the instruction booklet?

Looks like you just plug his Tank section to the back of the plane section.

Didn't realize the tfwiki page had this image until after I looked at the source from the google search.

Has anyone gotten this mode to work? I took a look at it and it seemed like the pegs on the back of the plane were too far apart to attach to the holes in the tank.

It was never meant to properly work. Like Sixshot's seventh "Wingwolf" mode and Black Zarak's "Hydra" mode it's a "fan mode" by the animators after playing with the toy.
Top 5 Priorities:

1) BW Neo X-7 Elphaorpha
2) BW II VS-18 Powerhug vs. Autocrusher
3) Universe 2003 Night Slash Cheetor
4) RiD Landfill (regular, not the yellow)
5) BW Convobat (red) & Megalligator (purple)

Also looking for any clear Arms Microns, like Shadow (Gora & R.A.), Hellflame and Shining (O.P. and R.A.).

Preparing to move to the US!

I'm aware of the mode's origins. What I'm asking is whether anyone knows how the production staff put everything together. I can't match the toy to the picture.

It's actually a pretty stable mode, and doesn't look too bad.
The pegs on the back of the plane (the thrusters) are the ones that Overlord's 'legs' click into. The space between the holes in the tank is no problem, seeing as the whole tank splits in two separate pieces: Overlord's legs!

If no-one beats me to it, I'll see if I can provide a good picture of the combined form in toy mode tomorrow (I'm at work right now and this evening I am going out with friends).

Oh yeah, I was going to do that but forgot all about it! Thanks for the reminder: I promise pictures later tonight (I'm in Europe, so that's like 10 hours from time of this posting)!

Finally, the pictures of Overlord's 'large plane mode' combined in toy mode! As I stated earlier, it's a reasonable stable mode, although it misses proper landing gear (normally the pins at the back of the regular plane form the rear landing gear), and is dependent on the stiffness of the joints of those pins (although I've noticed they usually are quite stiff).

I also took some pictures of the two tank halves switched around: it's not how it's shown in the Masterforce cartoon, but looks pretty good anyhow. The square indents in the tank halves fit with square pegs on the plane, allowing the tank halves to be placed at stable 90 degree increments, without being able to spin on their axis.

I hope these have answered your question!

Thanks for the pictures, but now I feel stupid. That configuration is what I tried, but I thought there was some way to keep the tank halves together, maybe. Clearly that's not the case, and looking back at the Masterforce image, it looks like the cartoon may have shown them separated, too, although that angle makes it tough to see clearly.
