Rumours are floating around that the Optimus Prime in the MP-01 is better than the Prime in the MP-04 set.
The rumour has it that the quality control wasn't as good when it came to MP-04 Optimus and thus, his paint application isn't so great. Further more, the paint on the MP-04 Optimus supposedly peels / chips / flakes off.
Is any of this true?
Thanks to anyone who can help!

I've only got MP-01 but I want MP-04 as the masterpiece line is the only one I'm choosing to collect.
I've not heard any serious complaint over paint applications, so I agree that you should make a decision on whether you want the trailer or not.
He's a great figure so you'll be happy with either version.

MP-04 by a mile. I don't have him in robot mode, he's all about the truck and trailer.

I'm of the opposite persuation. I dont think Optimus Prime has ever been 'all about the trailer' in fact he hardly ever uses it. In robot mode there is very little ponit in even having the trailer, it just takes up space. Personally I have owned MP-01 since release and am very happy to do so. IMO MP-04 is way to expensive for the sake of the trailer, espcially when a) MP-01 comes with a cardblard trailer anyway, and b) there are better third party trailers available. If you really waht MP Convoy with a trailer buy MP-01 and one of the better KO trailers.

I upgraded from MP01 to MP04 a couple of days ago, and love him! In truck mode, the trailer just makes him look so much better and makes up for some of the cab's shortcomings too. Yes, leaving Roller out is utterly cheap and halfarsed, but it's still better than the alternatives, one of which is an overpriced trailer that doesn't even open, and the other is a still further overpriced G1 KO trailer. Only the MarksProjects trailer is likely to be better, all things considered, and that costs a small fortune if you even get hold of one. As for expense, MPO4 is only £30 dearer than MP01. Consider that you'll pay at least £30 for even the non-opening trailer, and suddenly MP04 doesn't seem so pricey.

Sorry bro, I think you mis understand me. I bought MP-04 just to have him in Truck and Trailer mode. I also have Magnus and both Hasbro versions of Prime. I also have the none transforming Justitoys Trailer. I just really like the look of Prime in complete vehicle mode as a centerpiece to my collection.

I've had 20th prime since he was first spotted, got him down off one of the high shelves at wal-mart back in the day. Ever since I'd had him he's only been transformed to cab mode twice, and left that way for maybe 1 minute each time before being changed back to robot mode. It's the robot mode that makes the toy so I've never felt the need to get the mp-04 or any of the ko trailers. I don't think the cab mode is bad at all, though it probably does need the trailer to look better and maybe that's why I've never left him like that for very long.
