Masterpiece Grimlock Concerns

i have a few concerns/questions about MP Grimlock. So as some of you know who frequent the B/S/T forum, i've been looking for Grimlock for some time now. A few things come to mind that make me kinda on the edge about saving up and buying him. Here they are in numerical order.

1. Does he feel cheap? Like does the plastic feel like it will last awhile?
2. Does he have alot of hollow spaces?
3. Are there any particular ''points of stress''?

Thats it. Please tell of any problems you've had with yours.

thanks!

I've got the Tak version and he certainly doesn't feel cheap. After many transformations he has no stress marks and it never feels like I will break him.

The only hollow space in in the upper torso of the T-Rex mode, but that is rather show accurate when you watch him transform in the cartoon.

The only problem I have with him is that they didn't design his weapons to fold up to take advantage of that space :D

Overall he is a very nice figure IMHO.

Have the Hasbro version and I can answer all those questions with a resounding no.

Try getting the Takara version. Worth the pain and pleasure! Just watch out for battery leaks(he is quite old by now)

MP Grimlock is like MP Prime (01 and 10, both) - a serious tank compared to Starscream and Megatron. Tough as nails, and utterly awesome.

I was wondering the exact same thing the other day, AdamFett. Really glad to hear that MP Grimlock's as solid as they come.

Ain't nothin wrong with MP Grimlock. They nailed it with him. You can get some pretty dynamic poses with him too. I've had him balancing on one leg no problem.
I would like him to be tighter in the chest area but the slack is so minimal that it really is of little consequence.
I have the Hasbro version.

Do you know if the slack in the chest area also exists in the Takara version?

I believe it is but i don't have first hand knowledge. It's not really a QC thing inasmuch as it's just a necessary (but unfortunate) variable due to transformation tolerances.

But don't quote me on that. ;) by no means is it a deal breaker though.

He flails around a lot in mid transformation but he's sturdy, as everyone else said. I wish his shoulders had better articulation but his legs and neck are great.

I love my MP Grimlock, the great thing about him is he displays equally awesome in both modes, and unlike some MP figures, he's a lot of fun to transform. I still have a sneaking suspicion that Takara might release a bigger version now that scale is the big thing, but nonetheless, great figure!

I have the takara version. He is fantastic. I display him in bot mode. He looks very intimidating on the shelf.

I wouldn't bother with the Takara version, unless they're the same price and you have a preference for the packaging & waiter accessories. Otherwise the Hasbro one is nearly the same and comes with the crown accessory which the regular Takara edition did not. If you can get the Hasbro one for cheaper, I say go for it!
