Do you know if the slack in the chest area also exists in the Takara version?

I believe it is but i don't have first hand knowledge. It's not really a QC thing inasmuch as it's just a necessary (but unfortunate) variable due to transformation tolerances.
But don't quote me on that.
by no means is it a deal breaker though.

He flails around a lot in mid transformation but he's sturdy, as everyone else said. I wish his shoulders had better articulation but his legs and neck are great.

IKR. Good thing. Grimlock will be a B-day present to myself this year. Hopefully.

I love my MP Grimlock, the great thing about him is he displays equally awesome in both modes, and unlike some MP figures, he's a lot of fun to transform. I still have a sneaking suspicion that Takara might release a bigger version now that scale is the big thing, but nonetheless, great figure!

I have the takara version. He is fantastic. I display him in bot mode. He looks very intimidating on the shelf.

I wouldn't bother with the Takara version, unless they're the same price and you have a preference for the packaging & waiter accessories. Otherwise the Hasbro one is nearly the same
and comes with the crown accessory which the regular Takara edition did not. If you can get the Hasbro one for cheaper, I say go for it!

maido san fetish hehehe That's a subculture in anime where French maid style costumes gets your energon levels up to max
Though in Grimlock's case, he's just wearing an apron........even more sexier

I've got the Takara version in signiture picture below. He's usually decorating the bar, along with Binaltech Jazz w/ Martini reprolabels. Haven't had any problems with mine. The version to go with depends on how you will display him the most. I display in dino mode mostly. I did get my hands on the Hasbro crown though!
Either version is awesome. I would go with the one whose accessories fit you best.

What do the batteries do? I just opened mine and they didnt work, put new ones in and still nothing. Dont see any leaks. Oh well - but what lights/sounds are there (Hasbro version btw)?
Thanks.
