Metroid: Dread?

Hmm, I've heard rumors about a so called "Metroid: Dread" game coming out. IGN said it was coming, now nothing! :-$ But then, there was an Easter Egg in Metroid Prime 3 Corruption:

Perhaps a game after Fusion? We definitely need one!

What do you think?

According to the Metroid Wiki, there's been very little official information regarding Project Dread. (Which is a totally cool name that I'm going to call it until we get some official information) Yoshio Sakamoto doesn't deny that the game is in development, but is still very tight-lipped on what it is. Anything you may hear about it is just rumors.

Perhaps Nintendo is hushing him up? They did that to a Pokemon Forum a while back. :-$

EDIT: Perhaps a Metroid game for the 3DS?

I don't think they can. He created Metroid with Gunpei Yokoi, and he directed Super Metroid, Zero Mission, Fusion, Other M, and supervised the production of the Prime series. If Sakamoto isn't saying anything about Project Dread, it's either because he doesn't want to, or because there's nothing to say.

Who knows? (Aside from the people who may or may not be developing it)

Oh yes they can. If you're working on something Nintendo, Nintendo can hush you up real quick! :-$ We probably have to wait for E3 next year. The 3DS will be out *Probably shouldn't get too close, it could eat you!* and so will the games for it.

EDIT: Off Topic!: Hmm, I wonder what would happen if someone quoted someone so many times, I wonder if you couldn't be able to read the quoted post? :-?

No, they can't. This is a video game company, not the CIA.

Quote pyramids are frowned upon here. I've seen massive ones, though. It's impressive, at first, but you see one Pyramid, you've seen them all.

Quite true. They are not the CIA. But they do have lawyers. 8)

They do. And they can't sue because one of their top developers decided to announce a game he's supposedly been working on for five years.

Hmm, I wonder if Nintendo would be so bold and make the game developers sign a non-disclosure form to make sure none of the fandom gets a hold of Project Dread news etc., perhaps this is the reason for using all of the secrecy?

The guy who didn't deny Project Dread's existence, had said himself, that Nintendo was NOT making a 2D Metroid game for DS, not making a 2D game, that only means one of two things:

1). Its not coming at all and Nintendo is feeding us a bunch of junk rumors as a disguise for a different game in development. :-$

2). That they are making Project Dread a 3D game. =P~

Those are the reasons I could find.

Nintendo has never been that secretive before.

"The guy who didn't deny it" is Yoshio Sakamoto, the series producer.

1. I doubt they'd spend five years throwing us red herrings just to distract us from their own games.

2. Metroid Prime: Hunters.

EDIT: Also, if they were trying to keep him quiet, they wouldn't have let him say "I don't deny Metroid Dread is still in development."

I know thats his name, I just forgot. #-o Nintendo is made of a bunch of n00bs so they do have their moments of awesomeness and fail epicly later on. Metroid Prime: Hunters was not Project Dread. http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Metroid_series
As you can see, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption comes after Metroid Prime Hunters. And Metroid Prime 3 Corruption is where the picture is from.

It has to be a new game. And its not Metroid: Other M.

Oh and there is a first time for everything, even being secretive. ;)

n00bs? People who have spent over 30 years working in the industry and are responsible for bringing the video game industry back after the 1983 crash, and were responsible for bringing games into the mainstream even BEFORE the Wii, are n00bs now? Do you even know what the word means?

#Sideways# wrote:Metroid Prime: Hunters was not Project Dread. http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Metroid_series

Ugh, I meant Metroid Prime Hunters was a 3D game for DS. I'm not saying it's Dread, I'm just saying it fits the description for what you're assuming Dread is, even though we have absolutely no information to work from.

#Sideways# wrote:As you can see, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption comes after Metroid Prime Hunters. And Metroid Prime 3 Corruption is where the picture is from.

Why does Corruption's place in the production timeline even matter? Dread and it's rumors started in 2005, two years BEFORE Corruption was released and one year before Hunters.

Yes I do happen to know the definition of noob:

...n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own.

*Urban Dictonary*

It matters a lot. Corruption had the picture in it, which came after Hunters in production, so, it is still in production. *If any.*

Then why did you use it like that? Nintendo is always trying new things and rely mostly on first-party developers, how do they fit into that description?

#Sideways# wrote:It matters a lot. Corruption had the picture in it, which came after Hunters in production, so, it is still in production. *If any.*

Corruption is irrelevant. The first mentions of Dread came long before Corruption. All Corruption did is hint that Dread MIGHT still be in the works. If they said they were working on a 3D metroid for DS, depending on when they said it, they were probably referring to Hunters. Which has nothing to do with Dread and thus Corruption's mention of Dread is irrelevant.

Also, they never said they were making a 3D Metroid game for DS. You simply assumed that was what they meant. Though that's all we can do in this thread, we're arguing over something that may not even exist. It may not ever exist; Miyamoto admitted that the long-awaited Super Mario 128 was canceled, they used whatever they could salvage to make Super Mario Galaxy. The rumored Zelda game based on the Gamecube test footage never came to light, Half-Life 2: Episode 3...not really Nintendo but it's taking a reeeeeally long time and we still don't know what we're going to face.

I called them n00bs, because of something that they did that made me angry, its in the Pokemon TGC world. They were going to have worlds in Orlando, Florida, but when Niintendo sent over one of their "Eyes-and-Ears" (In his private airplane thank-you-very-much!!) he wore a suit and tie the whole time. Not shorts and T-Shirts like everyone else, he decided that Florida was too hot and humid for World Championship. So, they moved it to San Diego, (San Francisco?) California! So, they won't be having Worlds in Florida probably ever again. :BOOM:

No, it is completely relevant! It said that "Metroid Project 'Dread' is near completion." so, when you assumed that Metroid Prime: Hunters was Metroid: Dread, You were wrong, Metroid Prime: Hunters was made before Corruption, not after, if it was after, I would be right along with saying Dread was Hunters. But its not. Hunters is not Dread. If Dread is not in production, why not just tell the world, "Its not coming!" and be done with it? Nintendo is doing something shifty here. I can feel it.

Hmm, and your getting quite the disbeliever. Quite suspicious!! Are you a Nintendo Spy? :P

EDIT: They said that they were not making a 2D Metroid Game for DS, so, if it even is in production, it would have to be in 3D.

You think they're n00bs because they didn't have a Pokemon trading card tournament in your area?

Do you even read my posts? I keep telling you I never said that. I was pointing out that Nintendo said they weren't making a 2D Metroid game for DS, when you said it must have been a 3D game and I pointed out that if that were true, they may have been talking about Hunters because they never said the game was Dread.

You get it now? I'm not saying Dread and Hunters are the same game, and I'm not saying they were ever meant to be the same game. I'm saying that when you assumed they were talking about a 3D game for DS and assumed it was Dread, they may have been talking about Hunters.

Dude, no you can't. Nintendo isn't shifty. They just don't have anything worth talking about. It's just like Half-Life 2: Episode 3, Valve been working on it for years, but we haven't heard anything.

Color me crazy, but hasn't this been around since or even before the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? The name "Project: Dread" is mentioned in one of the logs of the game.

It's the card game, dude. It's the least important thing about Pokemon. And interesting fact, the card game isn't even directly handled by Nintendo.

Before, actually. The first rumors of it came from Game Informer in 2005, two years before Corruption.

 Well, I'm glad someone else is posting in this topic other than us!

Yes, I know that it is the card game, sure. but it is a lot more important to me than anything else about Pokemon other than than the games! *Black & white does look pretty darn cool huh?* And yes, Nintendo does have some say in the matter of the card game, because it is their copyright! :MARIO:
