I purchased a bare-bones Metroplex that came with nothing except instructions and the shoulder guns. I would need all of this stuff to complete him. I'm contemplating getting rid of him instead...

What a strange purchase. Did you buy it new, and it was missing stuff? Or did you buy it used, and hopefully you got yourself a hell of a good deal on him?

If new, hopefully it isn't too late to go back to where you bought it from and say, "Hey, I need to exchange this!"

If used, that's rather a strange purchase, unless someone really wanted extra stickers, a second large red gun, and a second Scamper. That Scamper is the real sticking point here, I should think, as everything else missing is fixable.

Since you at least have the shoulder guns, you could go for the Before and After Six-gun, and have a complete Six-gun and Slammer. You could theoretically just content yourself with the two red guns formed by Six-gun's legs for guns for Metroplex.

As far as stickers go, the Reprolabels apparently completely replace the stock stickers. Or, if you really wanted some of those stickers, apparently the Eness ones come with a reproduction of them in addition to their added stickers. (Of course, the Eness ones are much more expensive!)

If you must have a gun similar to the large red one you are missing, I suppose X2 Toys has you covered.

Bare minimum (the Before and After Six-gun/Slammer and the Reprolabels) you'd be looking at about $118. But $83 of that, for the Six-gun/Slammer combo, is getting you stuff that you wouldn't have had anyway, and stuff that I'd consider an essential purchase in order to get the two of Metroplex's minions/buddies/whatever that Hasbro didn't include.

Of course, as stated, that still leaves the Scamper problem... Not really sure what can be done about that, short of finding some other black Legends class car and repurposing it.

I am just curious, did you buy this knowing it was incomplete? Or was it a case of opening the box and finding crushing disappointment inside? If you bought it knowingly, for Zarquan's sake, why would you do that? It better have been super cheap! If you were taken for a ride, why didn't you just return it for an exchange or refund? (Or did you buy it somewhere less then reputable that wouldn't allow you such an option?) I just can't fathom buying such a large and expensive figure, who is a relatively recent release and so still not too difficult to track down new in the box, and settling for anything less then complete and unbroken...

Actually, I do have Scamper. He was hiding in the right chest with the ramp in it. And yes, I bought it for $50, knowing it was bare-bones. I was going to use it for a custom job. But when I got it and handled it, I kinda changed my mind. So that leaves me with the choice of either trying to sell it cheap to someone who would use it for parts or getting all the stuff in this thread that goes with him. To be honest, I really don't care that he's missing the stickers, the gun, and Sixgun. I got him mainly for his imposing size. It would be good if he was all decked out like he should be, but I'm not losing sleep over it or anything. I'll probably get the extra stuff piece by piece. Furthermore, I never got as far as his level in FoC. Once I pick up the game again, and get to that part, maybe I'll warm up to him some more. I've always been partial to Fort Max. :-(

This isn't an accessory, per se. Rather, it is a whole new alternative... but in the interest of having this thread be open to all things Metroplexy, I suppose it is worth pointing out what Maketoys is doing, as is being discussed in this thread.

Image
Image

No info yet on pricing, and no pre-orders available yet... so no point in updating the top post quite yet... assuming I even do so for this.

I'm mentioning it in this thread as, in my capacity as the person who started this thread, I feel I should make mention something if it is related to Metroplex. But on a personal level... I don't really see the point of this. I really prefer my third party purchases to be of a sort that either augments an official figure (such as the other Metroplex items being discussed in this thread) or something that fills a hole in the lineup of characters that has not yet been (and there's not been much indication that it will be) filled with an official figure.

But this... This is just setting up something that will compete with an officially released figure, and a fairly recent one to boot. This is the sort of thing that on a personal level, unless the official figure is fairly universally seen as a complete fail (such as the case with Classics Devastator) I find a bit distasteful.

I get what you are saying, Yotsuyasan, and I think you are completely right. Here's my take on it and why I am really, really interested in it, just to offer another perspective.

First, let me say that I am really happy with Has/Tak's Metroplex, and I would not sell it. It's not perfect. There are a few things I wish could have been done differently (like a swivel at the knees to make a more G1 toy like city mode, and a way to lower the upper torso in carrier mode to give a more streamlined look). But it is big. Really big! It's hard to just sit in front of my computer or watch TV and fiddle with it.

I could be completely wrong, but based on the level of detail and the size of the screw holes, I'm guessing this will be about the size of G1 Metroplex. I'm also guessing that that translucent figure (Mini-me Metroplex, Powermaster OP, Sixgun, or Slammer?)is about the size of Kremzeek that came with MP Megatron, which would lend to a similar size. (I have no proof. I'm just trying to throw out an educated guess.) If that is the size, and the cost is not too much (I'm throwing out the $100 as wishful thinking, I think) then I will probably get this. It would be a great fiddling size. It looks like fun to transform.

Image
Besides, this looks really, really cool. :KREMZEEK:

(And in searching for this pic, I went to the other thread and saw speculation that completely blows my price and size arguments out of the water. If YotS Omega is the size and $400 is the cost, I will have to admire the pics from afar. If those are vastly over-estimated, I am supremely interested!)

I'm way into the TFC six gun. Love those over sized arms.

I don't really know how caught up i'm really gonna get into all the Metroplex upgrades and accessories but i say keep em comin cause i might take the bait on a few of em if the price is right and if they're cool enough.

So far i'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on TFC's Six gun.

Well, to each their own. Personally, those arms were the first thing that turned me off of the TFC one, to the point where if that had ended up being the only option, I may have decided to go without. I was so glad when an alternative appeared. And when it later turned out that that alternative would come with a Slammer as well, well that was just icing on the cake that I was already quite prepared to stuff in my mouth.

(Metaphorically, that is. If it was cake. I'm not about to shove a Six-Gun in my mouth!)

If they are the ones mentioned earlier in this thread, then they are a 3D-printed item that gives the knees an extra swivel that allows for a more G1 look to Metroplex's city mode. Out of the box, you can only have the legs splayed out from Metroplex's hip joint. With the extra swivel, in city mode the knee can be put at a proper angle to bend.

While not from any of the big reviewers, if you do a search for "Megamoonman review" on Youtube, you'll find a few reviews. The knees seem to have gotten favorable reviews. I'd post some links, but I'm a bit too tired to search right now and should go to bed! Probably will do so when I am done writing this post.

On one review, the reviewer did point out that the standing Metroplex had a little extra wobble to him that wasn't there previously, but it didn't seem enough to effect his ability to stand. (The reviewer demonstrated this by shaking Metroplex. Indeed, he wobbled, but he didn't fall down.) Since I get the impression that 3D printed products are subject to having slight variance in their production, I couldn't say if this wobble was universal or if that reviewer just got some slightly loose knees. But no one else I saw complained of it. Indeed, a few reviewers commented that the new knees were tighter then the original. Where as with the original knees, if Metroplex was picked up and held in a lying position, but without the legs supported, the knees would bend under the leg's own weight, with the new knees that did not happen.

I'm impressed enough with them that these may be my first 3D printed purchase. (Along with the ramp extensions by the same guy, as the stock chest ramp is pathetically short.) I've been nervous to jump on the 3D printing bandwagon before now, but these seem like they may be worth it. Still wish they could have been manufactured in a more traditional fashion, though, as that could have made me interested in the hands from the same guy, as well. (The hands do not look as good manufactured this way, and while I love the theory of them, they were the part that in the reviews came off as somewhat underwhelmingly executed. But the flaw seems to be in how they are produced rather then in the design.)

Also, in case anyone missed it, there's also a video review up of Before and After's Six-Gun!

I guess this thing is worth mentioning:

Image

The figure itself is a third party figure named after one of the most laughable James Bond movies and based on Micromaster Countdown. This in and of itself isn't directly related to Metroplex, but apparently the turret he comes with is designed to plug onto Metroplex. Seems a bit silly to me, since Metroplex already has three integrated turrets that smaller figures can man. (One in his arm, one in his chest, and one made from his head.) But to each their own, and some may appreciate this add-on. (Although if I had interest in it, I'd rather they just make a good figure that scales well with Metroplex, and not add on cost by including an unnecessary extra turret.)

I'll update the top post when more info, such as price and possibly a pre-order, is available.

A discussion thread for this item can be found here.

Well, I finally filed my taxes, and was rather pleasantly surprised how much I was getting this year! So I placed the massive Reprolabels order I'd been planning on (which includes Metroplex's stickers), and I signed up for the TFW2005 boards so that I could inquire with MegaMoonMan about his knees and ramps. And once all of my pre-orders are in at TFSource, I'll have the Before and After Six-gun. Unless something else too astounding to pass up comes out, that should take care of my Metroplex needs.

May be a while before I get everything, but once I do I'll post some pics of my pimped-out Metroplex! (Maybe I'll even write a full review, and finally get back to my long-neglected review website!)

As being reported in this thread here, it seems there is another Six-gun coming, and much like the Before and After version, this one comes with Slammer.

One small problem, however. (Emphasis on small!)

Image

That's Six-gun in the middle, and as you can see he's practically Legends size. Maybe a small Scout, if we are being kind. I suppose this might fit the needs of those on more of a budget. (Assuming, that is, that the as of yet unknown price is less then the $80-$90 range on the current Six-gun choices.) Based on the other pics in the above linked thread, looks like Six-gun basically breaks into little turrets that you can stick in some of Metroplex's various holes.

The figure on the left in the above photo is their Slammer. Surprise, he's got a robot mode now! Overall, their Slammer looks good. And the robot mode, while unnecessary, is a nice touch. But for my personal tastes, I think I will be more then content with what I am getting from Before and After. (Unless this set is amazingly cheep, like $10 or under, in which case I may get it to swap out the Slammer. But I will be astounded if it isn't at least twice that much, probably more.)

As always, once there is an idea of price and/or pre-orders are available, I shall update the top post to include this offering.

Well, I have my Reprolabels, and I have my MegaMoonMan parts. Metroplex, who was already (in my opinion) a decent toy is looking much better!

Image

Those Reprolabels were a pain to get on! I've had some label sets from them that were tough to apply in the past, but at least they were still tough in a fun way. This set just got to be a chore. But you cannot argue with the results! The labels look great on him!

I did however use a different Reprolabel for the faction symbol on his chest (not that you can see that in the above photo) as I didn't like having the red mesh background behind it. I also used the stock Metroplex labels in a few areas, mainly a few spots where there were no corresponding Reprolabel and the stock sticker didn't overly clash with the look. (Also, all of the circle stickers on Metroplex's backside, as again I didn't like the red mesh for those.)

As far as the MegaMoonMan parts... I cannot comment on the hands, as I didn't get those. The ramp pieces look a little rough close up, but function well enough. The knees are literally a pain to install (stripped some skin off of the palm of my hand, rubbed off by pressure applied to the screwdriver I was using). Somewhat frustrating to install, as the legs were annoying to reassemble. But not impossible, and the results were well worth it.

Really a shame that city mode is the one mode that, where I regularly display my Metroplex, there isn't enough room for. I thought it was an okay mode before. With the stickers, the longer ramp, and the new knees everything looks amazing!

Once I have my Sixgun and Slammer, and my Classics Metroplex is complete, I'll shoot a bunch more photos of everything and share them all!

Thanks, heh. Suppose the problem could have been solved with better screwdrivers... In any case, skin heals. (And it mostly has at this point... just a bit sensitive still if I press on it...) A cool Metroplex is forever.

What, these old things?

Been ages since I've read them or bought a new one. (And heck, never really read the prequel novelizations... Mainly bought them to give Outbound Flight context on the shelf, ha ha.) I hear Zhan has a few more... As long as they aren't chronologically after Survivor's Quest, maybe I'll pick those ones up someday. (Survivor's Quest seemed a good stopping point, and from what I hear the storyline went kind of crazy after that.)

One of these days, though, I want to start at the beginning and just give them all a chronological read. (It'll take a while, if and when I do!)

While not unexpected, it was still a bit unsettling with the upcoming new film to be told, "Yeah, you know that extended universe that you've been loving for decades? Yeah, nope. Not canon. Have a nice day." Even if I like the new films (I'm cautiously optimistic) they'll have to be like the best pieces of Star Wars fiction ever before they become my canon.

Ahem... (*cough*) So... yeah, Metroplex. Metroplex is awesome! Hooray! Metroplex, bonsai!

Very nice! I had all the novelizations (including movie novelizations and the prequel stuff) up to the next series after the Yuuzhan Vong. I think the Vong war really took my interest away from the extended universe. I loved the Zhan stuff, and the X-wing Rogue Squadron series. The Darth Bane stuff was pretty interesting, if you wanted to get into Old Republic stories and the Sith. Out of the Prequel stuff, Shatterpoint, with Mace Windu, was the best. It was better than any of the prequel trilogy! Plus, I could just imagine Samuel L. Jackson in the role in the book. Bad ass.

And yes, we'd like to talk about Metroplex more, but I think some of us are waiting for the next accessories to show up. C'mon B&A and UT!!
