Yes I know, you've just read the title of this thread and gone "Well duh, you're an idiot Burn, we already know this! Why must you remind me of how much Michael Bay childed my rapehood?"

Because i'm a butthead. Plus we now have a definitive breakdown of how much Michael Bay loves boom booms and how those boom booms translate into money.

Kyle's Geek Blog About Cool Stuff has actually sat down and gone through all of Michael Bay's films and counted the number of explosions, deaths, and applied a dollar value to it all. Click the link to see his breakdown via a number of graphs.

Or, if you suffer from a short attention span like myself, you might like the very handy infographs as prepared by Frankenspace.

You know what really pisses me off about this? Now people will only care about money and not the "Lore" that TF really bring. yes, i know that it's money that keeps TF alive and well, but who cares if it envolves selling your soul with something less than 10% of the total audience of these movies care about right?

And screw Micheal Bay! yes, i understnd that his movies basicly saved TF from going under and brought TF into public view that brought in new fans to keep TF going for years and years to come, but who cares? It doesn't have the "Lore" that G1 had!

And who cares about bringing in new fans!! I'm 30 and Hasbro owes me thier soul for watching since my wee days of childhood! I think its selfish to even think about wanting to expand this franchise to something different!

And who cares about action and explosions!! I'd much rather have every transformer have sit down moments with Dr. Phil and discuss their feelings!! Thats what TF are about! Feelins, not fighting!

And the new movies are nothing but GM comericals! Yes, i understand that they brought in loads of money to help fund the movies, especaily the first movie that several other auto manufactuers didn't want anything to do with the movie, and the vehicle designs were fantasitc but who cares? If Bay cared about fans he would have had exact G1 duplicate vehicles for the movie! I would have much rather had Ratchet and Ironhide as plain jane minivans with no detail whatsoever!

And prime as a Long nose perterbuilt.... I pooped my pants when i saw this, and then there are the flames.... Oh dear god the flames!!! Oh the horror!! I pooped again!

Damn you Micheal Bay!! Damn you for making improvments and not taking die hard, FT till we die fans feeling into conciderations!! yes, i know you listened to us in terms of giving us a better and darker toned story. More character development, and break through visuals. I know we still wined more than a 2 year old during gabba gabba, but that seves you right mister!

Shame on you for making me poop my pants!
Decepticons... Com in get yo ice cream!.... And then get yo ass whop'in!!

Most of his movies have been fun. Including Transformers. The Rock is in the top 5 of my all time favorites, and the highway chase scene from Bad Boys 2 is just f**king awesome. "They're throwing cars at us! How the hell am I not gonna see that?!" Pearl Harbor was not fun, I guess that was Bay's attempt at drama. And yes, his TF movies were fun. Even RoTF is watchable. I wouldn't mind him directing TF4, as long as the story is as good or better than DotM.

It wasn't intended to be fun. It was a good film, I thought. Sad.

Yeah. Perhaps I should rephrase. I didn't go see it expecting it to be what it was. I was expecting a Michael Bay war movie.

Bay has actually become more Bay with TF's. All the numbers (deaths, 'splosions and money) skyrocket from TF1 onwards. I want to see more death, 'splosions and money made on TF4. Go Bay.

Pearl Harbor is the only film of his I've seen that I actively hate, though this is more due to the fact that the film played a little too fast and loose with history and I'm an admitted history nerd. The romantic plot tumor that bogged up so much of the run time was Randall Wallace's bastard child and Bay was in no position to say "I won't direct that part," so he was stuck keeping it in.

That said I do believe he's the only director in Hollywood who can do Transformers justice on camera and I seriously fear the day he quits directing them. Directors when putting something from TV, novel, or otherwise on the big screen tend to think a little too outside of the box and gut what made it great in the process (see: The Last Airbender, GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, Dungeons and Dragons). While Bay changed things he kept it close enough to the spirit of the series to make it enjoyable for new and old fans.

Unless you're an insufferable fanboy, and we do indeed have plenty of them roaming about. :BANG_HEAD:

My only minor peeve is his use of those "welding sparks" type explosions that obscure some of the details of the TF's in certains scenes, such as when Skorponok detaches from Blackout's back.

That said, it could be the CG guys who chose to do that, probably to save themselves some work [and therefore, money] from having to render the process of Skorponok detaching itself.

Bay's explosions, I do love. But those "welding spark" type ones, not so much.

When people say "general audience" in such a way it's usually a thinly veiled insult. It's generally not a matter of opinion that he's best for the job, it's fact. If you handed it over to any of the directors people usually wish for the fandom would live to regret it no matter how much they celebrated Bay's departure.

There you are again, making "uninformed" judgment calls on the motivations of others.

When I say "general audience" I mean "general audience" as in those that regularly attend movies based on pre-established series but are not fans of those series on a regular.

You and many may feel he's best for the job, others do not, either way it is INDEED A MATTER OF OPINION.You may feel that other directors would fail and bring regret to the fandom, and you might be right, but many within the fandom already regret that Bay ever got the job.

I myself have a hard time picking a different director for this franchise.I wont deny Bay his credit on making popular films, including these, but he doesnt tell great stories and his stories dont have great continuity.

True, Transformers as a whole has continuity issues, but I would have expected a bit better from a big screan adaptation.

Either way you cut it, it should be possible to make a film that pleases both the fanbase and the general audience.
