Your fellow Seibertronian and podcaster ScottyP made an interesting discovery while visiting his local comic book shop, Micro Comic Fun Packs for IDW Publishing. There are four themed packs - Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, and Drift. Each includes a mini-comic (which is a full length issue, just shrunken down), sticker, mini-poster, and temporary tattoo. They retail for $3.00 each.

The actual comic issues included are:

  • Grimlock pack: Spotlight Shockwave
  • Optimus Prime pack: Spotlight Orion Pax
  • Drift pack: Spotlight Drift
  • Bumblebee pack: Spotlight Bumblebee

Never know what you'll find at your local shop, drop by and see what you can find. These where found at Capitol Comics in Raleigh, NC.

The idea behind these is cool, love the tiny format for comics.

Out of all of these the Grimlock pack is the best, Spotlight Shockwave was fantastic.

The Spotlight choices don't always make sense though, why not include Spotlight Optimus Prime in the Optimus Prime pack? It's a much better story than Orion Pax. And Grimlock actually has his own Grimlock focused Spotlight.

They're alive and kicking. But if someone only uses online services for everything, they probably don't even know they exist.

It has been a very long while since we last heard of the IDW mini-comic 'fun packs', but it seems they've now moved from local comic shops to bigger stores - such as the Target in San Jose, CA, where Seibertron.com member cdavid3 has found them for $2.99 each! Still interested in these? Head out for your weekend hunt and grab a couple.
